The thing the 2005 P&P has going for it is that Jane actually looks almost prettier than Jane. They cast Jane kinda badly in this version. But otherwise this version is pretty amazing.

I'm a man and I love this version as well, but I don't get the virtually orgasmic reaction a lot of women have for it. I have the sneaking suspicion that it includes some sort of subliminal, gender-specific drug in the soundtrack, a sort of hidden girl-narcotic that would be safer if applied only in a proper medical setting.

This is my absolute favorite P&P! I'd say the next best version is the one with Elizabeth Garvie and David Rintoul. Garvie (tiny bit) better Lizzie than Jennifer Ehle. ...but Colin Firth is DEFINITELY the ONLY Mr. Darcy in my mind!! :D yay

Everytime I watch this movie, it brings to life all that Jane Austen described in the book. So elegant and as though the characters and scenes take place while J.A. pens the story. *makes you want to fall in love*

THIS is the only true version you guys. it's SPLENDID. elizabeth is spot on, not like that skinny keira person, ugh. and darcy... the way he looks at elizabeth is to die for. haha even though i'm totally into slash, this is just lovely and real and true. oh, and the book was amazing

Even though I am "fiercely" American, the American remake of Pride & Prejudice does not even approach the beauty, acting and magnificent score of this production. I wore out my vhs tapes and am working on the DVD version of this. The characters have been etched in my heart forever...it really does play like a good book. S. Orlando (Ukulelegirl)

Yes, even dear Mr. Collins in this version was closer to the description in the book. Every character. The best P&P adaptation. All Jane Austen fans would agree I think.

Every year around christmas I watch this beautiful BBC production. Tomorrow I am meeting a friend, we cook together and then its P&P time again. Im so looking forward to it, I just love love love this great movie/series...

It is just the perfect Christmas movie. I am so grateful to my English teacher who introduced us to the movie first. We never would have found it without her. We wrote her a card this year, telling her we still watch and love this series and made a tradition out of it. I think she will be happy about that.

So totally true! I read and re-read the book and BBC adaptation is right on accurate. The Bennetts portrayed with proper elegance unlike their shabby depiction in Keira's version. Colin forever!

Read it it is so much like the movie... or the other way round ;-) I still laugh at the notes of all the words I hadn't known when I first read it. I thought I would never understand it and then discovered it was so beautiful. Jane Austen was a genius. I wish I had a Mr Darcy here. He doesn't have to talk just his eyes... *sigh*
