I remember this promo, too! It almost seems like a precursor to the skit they did in "Sword and the Dragon", involving Schlitz beer and piers. lol Joel chilling out in the background is the cherry on top to this ad!

They didn't have Comedy Central in my area (Cleveland) back in 1992. The only way I could watch MST3K at the time was by visiting relatives out of town which was usually in Washington D.C. or Nashville.

the "Death and Taxes" theme is a pretty intellectual idea for a TV network back then... bet u 10 bucks no cable network today would trust their audience to get it today...
