I remember this promo, too! It almost seems like a precursor to the skit they did in "Sword and the Dragon", involving Schlitz beer and piers. lol Joel chilling out in the background is the cherry on top to this ad!
They didn't have Comedy Central in my area (Cleveland) back in 1992. The only way I could watch MST3K at the time was by visiting relatives out of town which was usually in Washington D.C. or Nashville.
the "Death and Taxes" theme is a pretty intellectual idea for a TV network back then... bet u 10 bucks no cable network today would trust their audience to get it today...
Great to know some of our men and women in the military could appreciate this. I grew up in a base in Korea, so I never knew about this till I started college
Is that language supposed to sound like swedish, or is it just "rabble"? XD... it sounds more like a parody of German or something. (Jah, I'm a Swede)
One of the best plugs I've see for a TV offering! LOL XD

Ah, back in the day when Comedy Central's target audience had seen a Bergman film, let alone heard of him.

Death and Taxes? Sounds like something a Tea Partier thinks about every day. Oh yes, I went there.

@customcartoons It works with the MiSTies, 'cause you kinda have to be pretty knowledgeable to get all the jokes.

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be Swedish (parodying Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal")
