  • it really pisses me off that people can play 2 melodies in their head/hands at the same time, and i still type with two fingers

  • Holy fuck this track is hot.

  • sooooo great, soul is carved up and built up then again

  • Awesome!!! One of my favorite songs!!

    This is amazing!

  • i am utterly blown away by all this, an incredible four parter. discovered at age 53!!

its like having been on an epic journey, i am altered by it.

free jazz figures in parts, so much is in there.

it seems we have four incredibly talented soloists that have formed a combo for company !!

    wow. an incredible soundscape.

btw, the book on the keyboard (to fill in the gaps) looks to be Gunter Grass 'The Tin Drum' ,I've a copy here, I should sit down and re-read it.

  • What a voice what a genius. Everything I have heard from Peter Hamill is of high quality,I am glad he chose to make music instead of making money .

  • Hammill had a pretty voice-crack at 4:15... never mind :-) it shows that he is just a human.

  • listening to this actually cured my headache

  • All things are a part,,,, all things are apart. That is pure poems, like Rimbaud.

  • Funny????? did you understand the lirycs??????

  • is there anywhere to get this uninterupted?

  • @767fife - Yes. Godbluff Live 1975 DVD has the entire performance from a Belgium gig of the Godbluff tour as well as this uninterrupted footage of A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers and Theme One. It's good quality and can be ordered through Amazon. I've enjoyed it immensely!

  • @ZasmineXYZ

    thanks

  • Thanks for post! Great song of a great band!

  • four parts of QUALITY. MEGA!

  • Peter Hammill is so funny lol

  • i strongly recommend you to google Wilf Turnbull.. He writes unintentionally funny letters to pop stars and wrote to Hammill about this song AND HE REPLIED. It's hysterical

  • this is the greatest music video I have ever watched. Praise be to all connected with making this film and to the uploader. I am speechless so I'll shut up now.

  • Like Dylan Moran at 4:58.

  • Drowning in VDGG excess here. They play with such conviction and the madness is captured in all its glory here. Uneasy listening at its best.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • wow

saying that was an amazing performance is an understatement.

  • i am left speechless

  • This is a great, great video! Where do they find this stuff and where is it hidden? Still in great quality too.

  • nnn-dada-nn-da-dn-dun-dan!!

  • the epic final!

  • Best download ever!!!!!! thank you. It is people like you who make this world a more bearable place to live. Keep up the good works.

  • less a song than an experience

  • Switch ''on'' (2:41)...

The GREAT piece by the poetic Hammill..

  • "All things are apart".... does the narrator commit suicide in the epilogue, I wonder?

  • That's up to the listener to decide. It could also be "All things are a part", which suggests that the narrator gets over his problems.

  • Actually, it should be both verses, "a part" and "apart".

  • Can see where Guy Evans earned the moniker of being a "hyperactive" drummer!

  • I met with Peter Hammill, backstage, before a solo concert at Le CEGEP de Limoilou, Québec City, sometime in 1974 if I remember well. Thanks to my friend Denis Huot, who owned a music store on St-Jean Street then. It was the In Camera Tour. Hammill was hypnotising a dog backstage just before his recital. That was amazing to watch. When we got presented to each other by Denis, I just couldn't find a word to say and Peter just told me: "Please enjoy my show, my friend, and I'll be happy..."

  • I believe it was in '76,because Generator only did 2 gigs in North America, one in Montreal, the other, which I attended, was at the Beacon Theater in New York City.If you can get a hold of a recording of the New York gig,you will hear me yell "BRING OUT FRIPP!",to which Hammill replied,"FRIPP'S BEEN TRYING TO BRING OUT FRIPP FOR YEARS,AND EVERYTIME HE SUCCEEDS,IT'S BEEN DISASTER FOR THE WORLD!" LOL

  • @vf152Diceman Hahaha. Nice nice

  • OOPS,MY BAD,SO SORRY.You were refering to a Hammill solo show, which he did several in North America.I was speaking about the whole VDGG,the original lineup(minus Nick Potter on bass)

  • @Linstrumentiste I am the dog which Hammill hypnotized on that day, and I can say that that was the most memorable moment of my life. I've been hypnotized by many artists ever since (for whatever reason), but it was never like that again. Lady Gaga, Bieber, Radiohead (fuck them, they couldn't hypnotize a fucking squirrel!) You're right, mate, Hammill was one of a kind!

  • lol peter hammil at 2:27

  • wow, peter hammil has a cool voice........

  • fantastici!

  • Those were the lyrics

  • Best thing on YouTube

  • Those were the times.

I somehow miss the final Fripp's guitar riff in the studio thing but this is still a really remarkable experience. Three fantastic musicians plus a godlike songwriter/singer make for a alien experience.
