  • Layoffs are a factor in economics. The problem I see with the economy is that employers need skilled labor. Unemployed workers (who have the right attitude and work ethic) can't get the job because they don't have the skills. Education is expensive. It is a double-bind. You need money to go to school but if you're unemployed or part-time employed you don't have the capital. Banks are unwilling today to make loans to students and unskilled jobs don't pay enough to go to get the training.

  • Giant Corp's make money during the boom through inflation (greed) then make money through layoffs and Corporate welfare all the while controlling your wages.

They then shine light on their economic victims welfare (unemployment) and cuts to education while lobbying for corporate welfare such as capital tax breaks, incentive tax breaks, investment tax breaks and etc.

This is the corrupt system that breaks the backs of our civil economic system our forefathers planed for us.

  • This was produced by Nazi scum.

  • actually the only reason why i would vote for obama is just because i want to see a black man in office, no other purpose. There is no real choice, it doesnt matter which color you pick, were all still going to be fucked. voting, pff what a bust

  • that was posted 7 and 1/2 months ago and we're still in that phase...

  • i don't get it

  • MY nuts itch

  • I thank you for the info, but I don't quite agree with your phrasing and examples to get the point across. Society should take into consideration the use of it's language and expressive approach in order to further it's collective agenda. Just an opinion, and thanks once again for the info!

  • The president cant help you... only take more of your money. Rich people that create jobs are the only people that can help you... only if the uh.. president doesnt take their money... vicious circle eh?

  • she is refering to how the short-run aggragate demand curve and the short-run aggregate supply curve are at an equilibrium below the long-run equilibrium (recession), firms will start to fire employees which according to classical economics, will shift the aggregate supply curve to the right thus lowering prices and increasing quantity supplied moving back to a long term equilibrium.

  • you learned new words today... good for you!!

  • yes learning is a good thing you should try it. makes life a little less.. retarded.

  • how about sucking dick to feed your family huh is that good IS IT!! ISSS ITT!! AAHHHGGGGGG

  • Why is it all these "experts" say that unemployment is a good thing? I heard that same dribble in the '80s. I think it's just something they say to pacify the masses and buy time . If it's that important, how about the economists volunteering?

  • Layoffs also make companies run more efficiently so they can employ more people in the future. She is right, there is more to come. Most of these layoffs are in bubble businesses anyways. For example:

    You own a restaurant.

Employ 20 people in a normal market.

Then the circus comes to town driving up business.

    You hire more people.

    Circus leaves.

You have to cut away extra employees.

There is your answer for the economy in the last 10 years!

  • Watch Gerald Celente and Peter Schiff. They would differ from this woman. There will be another real estate crash around February or March. This time it will be with commercial real estate. Celente says this is just the beginning of . . ."The Greatest Depression".

  • have your mexican employees spayed or neutered

  • We need to "lose" these pathetic service sector jobs and these "liberal arts" majors and paper pushers and start "producing" more consumer goods, things we can sell and "earn" money..we need to "earn" BEFORE we spend...the governemnt "spends" $3 TRILLION every year...they "produce" $0 every year..and it keeps getting larger..how can we all not glaringly see the obvious..our government is far too large to be sustainable and is going to starve us all before we can possibly continue to afford it

  • @gladiator1010 fuck you stupid tea bagger - read a fucking book

  • Okay so wait... in the 80's the unemployment rate peaked at 10% and now its only at 6.4% and yet now the economy is supposedly the worst its been since the great depression? So what was the 80's? Just a test phase?

    I don't get it!

  • The figures she used was wrong, as she did not take the differences in populations between the 80s & now into consideration, hence, the figures she cites are misleading.

  • yes the 70's and 80's where peeks in layoffs, but...umm... THIS AINT THE 80'S BITCH!!!!! XXD HOW CAN THE LAYOFFS BE A GOOD THING?!?!?!?!?!?!? i suppose when your so high on the smell of your own shit like is you dont care what you say

  • Did u even listen to anything she said? She is just saying that there is an end in sight now that we've reached the next phase. In my experience only retards call someone a bitch cause their the dumbasses who cant understand them.

  • end in sight? i dont see that michigan is still in the shitter, like a third of the pop in mich. are still unemployed, yep the end is in sight

  • @carolyn2501 video was made 2 years ago, so where is the end in sight? Its worse now than it was is still getting worse. Listening to what someone says doesn't mean they are right or even honest. Try listening to a president once.

  • Are there any jobs that can't be sent over to China????

When you have a completely Fake economy for 25Years..How can layoffs be good? Plus the world will no longer lend us any more money for our Fake economy!!

  • What she means is that the sooner layoffs peak, the sooner ther recession ends. By holding onto failing jobs, you prolong the recession. The economy is shrinking to a size that requires X amount of jobs. Right now we have to many. THe layoffs are inevitable and the sooner they take place, the sooner the recession ends.

    Look at Peter Schiff videos.

  • UNLESS of course, we're going into a depression, shot up by another terrorist attack.

  • exactly - tahnks to bush, we are screwed

thank God we have a smart, good CHRISTIAN president in one month, instead of a cokeheaded murdermonkey who giggles when he hears about how innocent people are bombed

  • Layoffs in themselves don't solve larger economic problems. Reforms to spur job growth, innovations in business, and other traditional spurts to the economy do that. This video was a waste of time.

  • That video still didn't explain why layoffs are good. We're in a different stage of the recession? Ok...so why is that good?

  • its as she said a lagging indicator, it means while uve seen alot of bad news, unemployment as a lagging indicator means we've been in a recession for awhile, which also means were closer to getting out of it, then years ago when there was more jobs. recessions are a perminent part of our economic cycle so it means where closer to out of the tunner, sorta speak.

  • Except the governemnt tries to save bad companies from going bankrupt which cause even more bankruptcies and lay-offs especially cause we are now the biggest debtor nation in the history of mankind and would NEVER go COMPLETELY broke..but hey.."lay-offs" are good, if we stop working at burger king and go out and start "producing" things and "saving" again..but how can you when your governemment-controlled-currency is almost worthless?

  • inflation is reducing buddy.

  • Because america is meeting the mother of all margin calls right now that is requiring massive amounts of dollars temporarily...you can't really think you can print $7 trillion worth of bonds in a couple years and not have massive inflation somewhere down the road, people are being forced out of every market imaginable and the derivatives stock option margins are especially cash-intensive

  • exactly... besides we dont give a shit about the corporate companies cutting expenses by laying people off. We care about those who are being laid off and have no way of taking care of themselves or their familes! It looks like its a downward spiral, people with no jobs = people with no money which equals fewer custoemrs to buy stuff and keep the economy and commerce afloat.

  • The reality is our commerce structure is unrealistic...the entire world has been sending us their savings thinking they were investing..this showed up as credit...they then sent all their goods that they produced and accepted "dollars" because we were the reserve currency..simply because oil is the "real" reserve currency and everyone trades oil in dollars. Anyways..this economic model is un-realistic..we can't pay it back and spending more is not going to help

  • I'm not worried about layoffs though cause President Obama promised us all a job.

  • Obama don't want to be called President Obama. He wants to be called, Der Fuhrer. Got it?

  • or Comrade Obama or Brother Barrack Hussein Obama.

When People that voted for him start to complain it will be funny.

  • Grammar fail.

  • But possibly less complaining than an 80 year old president who has a heart attack. Then we're stuck with Palin...

  • Yes..and your job..is to occupy this cell

  • "and that is how layoffs are good"

Wow she looks sooooooo HOT when she says that.

  • HELL no shes damn ugly

  • Your Stupid

How are Lay Offs Good Again?

  • good analysis. ternel she means its good in that, its at least starting. its the same way jumping into a pool and getting past the "its gonna be cold" stage is good. were going to start suffering, we have always known that it was coming.

  • I can has layoff too?

  • Wow...

I have to disagree because of this one HUGE assumption:

You are assuming layoffs are going to peak in the near future. As you said in your own example, unemployment started to tick up in the 70's and didn't peak till the 80's. By your own example we are in for about 10 years of layoffs.

Layoffs are only good when they slow, not when they start. Its the difference between the unemployment rate and the marginal rate. We want the marginal rate to go down and right now it is going up.

  • I don't believe it
