Nah dun' worry man. Strats have (along with single pickups in general) such a unique sound that is hard not to love. Don't be intimidated by the kiddies going for teh br00t4lz and their humbuckers (even though I play metal myself >_>). They will eventually (hopefully) gain a deeper appreciation for everything else musically related. I know I did :D
