  • love the breakdown its like a heavy metal band

  • Mike Smith on the organ is the lead vocal-- he died in 2008.

Of course this is a lip sync here.

  • Dave'srumming is hillarious!

Ginger Baker said he was the worst drummer he had ever known!!

He was a pretend one right?

  • DAVE CLARK WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE WHAT A SMILE

  • DAVE CLARK WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE

  • Thanks for posting this one of "oldies but goldies" songs.... at least I,ve seen this video clip.

  • dave clark 5 was my very first rock concert and seen them in Symphony hall Newark, NJ, i was sitting in the 5th row center

  • Heard them live at the Mosque Theater in Newark New Jersey. They sounded great, that is when you could hear them over the screaming girls. Shindig did not feature live acts. Most teen music shows didn't because if the cost. They got paid a lot more for a live performance.

  • Heard them live at the Mosque Theater in Newark New Jersey. They sounded great, that is when you could hear them over the screaming girls.

  • I got their 2 CD best of remastered set a few years back and its great. They sure pumped out a bunch of great tunes. My very first record wast he Dave Clark Five. I still have it.

  • ITS a shame these were not done live but thats the way it was

  • The bass player always looks like he is darning a pair of socks.!

The DC5 always mimed their songs!

They could never replicate their studio sound live!

  • @CANARVONKID = LOSER

  • @tmt182182 Wow I must have hit a raw nerve eh?...So go through life with your head in the sand, I won't be worried one iota!!

  • @CANARVONKID

    What is your talent?

    Nothing most likely.

    MASTERBATION perhaps??

    8===============D

Now maybe I hit your nerve BOY!

  • @tmt182182 Now I get it.

You've got the hots for Dave Clark, and can't stand any negative words being said about him!!:)

Thanks for given me 4" more than you have!!:)

Oh and by the way, check your spelling.

It's sad when a 56 year old man cannot spell!!

Maybe it would be better for you, if you used the word wank?

  • The DC5 weren't a studio creation. They formed to raise money for Dave's football club. As musicians, they were far from incompetent. They wrote nearly all their songs, including their hits. MIke Smith was an excellent vocalist. And everyone used studio musicians. The Beatles for "Love Me Do" brought in Andy White. Kinks used a session drummer as well. The bottom line is the DC5 made great records and looked great performing them on TV.

  • This is worthless. Shindig is famous for its live performances, yet these incompetents are miming to their records. Why? Simple -- anyone who heard them in concert in the mid-60s knows that they were truly awful live. At least they could have attempted to perform live and had support from the Shindig/Wrecking Crew musicians like the Beach Boys and The Byrds did. There's no excuse for this fakery.

  • The fact that you know who the Wrecking Crew were tells me you are very knowledgeable about music. This was a good band but as you know, many groups were studio creations, The Monkees, even great musicians like Otis Redding used studio musicians. Hal Blaine played drums on 30,000 recordings. The Beach Boys Dennis Wilson never played a lick-yet would you disparage what The Baach Boys did in the studio? Its a tough call- I just try and enjoy the music-the rest of this gives me a headache.

  • DC5 fantastic! So they were a "studio creation" Who cares. They Rock with the best of their era and deserved to be in the Hall when it opened....instead of some of the garbage they did induct. I'm glad all over...

  • i remember this band from when i was a kid. wow, they were awesome!!!

  • great band.....!!!

  • DC5 AND The Hollies not in the hall of fame??-F JAN WENNER!!!!

  • DC5 were a studio creation, lip sync for each and every television performance. They don't deserve the Hall. The Hollies do deserve to be in.

  • sorry you feel that way.they sold over 100 million records.and hopefully the hollies will also get in the hall of fame.

  • perhaps the biggest jan wenner injustice of all; CHICAGO is not in the hall of fame!!

  • I saw them live @ The Montreal Forum when I was 7, along with Gerry and the Pacemakers.

    Thks 4 posting!!!!

  • Lucky you, I could only enjoy their music on radio as a kid in the Philippines. I love their music very much, especially "Because".

  • I can still remember, they were great live, but the teenage girls were screaming so much!!!-that you couldn't hardly hear the music!!

    Nonetheless, a memorable experience!

  • Wowee, wow WOW! DC5 at their best from smoove (yes) to R'N'R. Thank you for posting. A Smasher!

  • not putting them in the R&R Hall of Fame was like ignoring a 3000 pound elephant in your living room.....ridiculas that it took this long

  • At least you were in college I was 7 when I first heard this song and have loved it ever since. This is definitley one of the greatest bands of all time. R.I.P Mike Smith and Rick I had forgotten how good looking this band was back then.

  • Danke !! Even now i love it . Great voice and sound !!

  • I was so into the Beatles back then, I did'nt realise how good this band was. (Kind of like realizing the greatness of Elvis, much later.) DC5 rock!

  • Been a long time since I've heard some of the DC-5's work from the early sixties. Its clearer to me now why even back then they were my personal favorites to come out of the "British Invastion" era.

  • My favorite group of the British invasion. Mike Smith had a great rock and roll voice! Yes, their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall was way over do. RIP Mike and Dennis.

  • They were so adorable!

  • The DC5 was screwed out of being inducted in 2007 because the freaking chairman wanted to put in a rapper instead. Now in 2008 the rockhall committee covered their collective asses and finally put the DC5 in. It still pisses me off that common sense didn't prevail sooner, but they are deaesvedly in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,a place I love dearly. Thanks for the video.

  • Loved DC5..had a set of red sparkle drums but changed to guitar real quick when playing like Dave was just a dream..RR Hall of fame is great..but they should of been there alot earlier..RIP Mike...

  • Glad they finally made it into the Rock & Roll Hall of fame!

  • The drummer was Dave Clark!

  • Oh Thank you !!

  • My fingers slipped... Well anyway, as I was saying, I mean, typing... I love this song "Because" by the Dave Clark Five. Brings a lot of good college memories. Thanks for sharing this video clip ~
