@MrGoodatDrawing haha, well coming from a guy who's photo on his YT channel is of your legs only!! I'm sure your comment is from personal experience. :)
I mainly work with pencil. I much prefer hatching and crosshatching over the shading technique many pencil artists use, where you shade with the pencil held under your hand. It's slower, but I feel like I get more control over the texture of what I'm trying to draw. Shading is nice for fast sketching though.
@TheKeyWestian I recommend the Pilot G-2 07. Really great Ball point pen. Works great with hatching/cross hatching and stippling techniques. Careful not to touch it immediately after marking on the paper. It takes a few seconds to dry and may smear if you sweep your hand past it.
At my school we read a book with cross hatching in it. The pictures are amazing! At first i was like what is this sketching? Until my teacher told me what it was.
the end picture was kinda bad.. but ur drawing skill is amazing. You'll fo sure get far with that. just: do never stop, just cuz ur bored or if you think its stupid
Great work! After years of using paints, I just discovered the fun in graphite and charcoal! I viewed a number of your videos and can see how you're growing as an artist... Don't let life distract you from taking the time out to draw!....Thanks for the tips!
@RuNeSCaPeR133 I recognize that pen anywhere, they were my favorites while I could find them. It's a uniball, I'm fairly certain, though regrettably I haven't seen one in a while.
@RuNeSCaPeR133 I'm pretty sure it's a uniball, I'd honestly recognize that pen anywhere. Though I unfortunately have not used one in ages, they were my favorites once upon a day, back when they were readily available.

absolutely freakin incredible .. makes cross hatching look easy .. it isn't .. we definitely want more from this fine artist .. maybe a tutorial on cross hatching techniques and tools. This video is a Master Class. Thanx !!!
haha... um you can use colored pens i guess. That's actually a good idea. This entire drawing is just thousands of lines though, not sure how color would turn out.
Cross hatching take a very long time, but they are sooo much fun to do and they look so great at the end.

cross hatching is so simple and it's an ugly style...

@MrGoodatDrawing YOU are simple and ugly, not cross-hatching :)

do the cross hatching strokes always go the same way or does it depend on the object?
davidure09 1 year ago
@davidure09 it doesnt really matter too much which direction there going, just try to keep 90 degree angles or diagonals or it will look sloppy

Ugh! In my art class our teacher is making us use the Old fashioned pens, a small jar of ink, and water. -:/
I hate it so much. You cant just lightly touch the paper to get a lighter value. Bleghhhh.

Have you ever tried using a Rapidograph pen set? Adjusting the size of the dots you use makes a big difference.
