  • I'm dying to get into NYU. It seems like the obvious choice but thats just me I guess...

  • choose NYU but it is so expansive. confused me as well

  • I hate your videos. They are so douchey. I'm a Unc student so I hope u chose NYU

  • I know what happens, the answer's NYU :)

  • UNC

  • @1989bryam this was like 2 years ago...

  • UNC. great academics, great campus, best bang for your buck

  • Exactly my problem too. UNC or NYU! If I could choose, I'd choose NYU, but the money is just a big big factor.

  • nyu nyu nyu

  • NYU! I wanna go to NYU!!!!!!! ^_^

  • if you are gay, and/or if you are liberal, then NYU is the place for you.

  • @csillag4 haha same can be said for UNC

  • you're cute!! so which did you choose??

  • where did you end up going?

  • @sushirocks2 he went to nyu

  • is everyone gay at nyu? i am straight and i might apply there for fall 2011 and want to know what to expect...thanks

  • @moe761 wow

  • @violmaster94 wow what?

  • @moe761 For the sake of culture and being a respected person in society I will reply: Your comment is very arrogant. Not in a bashing way but very very arrogant. I think you have good intentions but its all in the way you present it. Here's a better way: Are there a lot of gay people at NYU? thats it. Why would you need to prepare yourself for being immersed in a gay community???

  • @violmaster94 you didnt answer my question...and get over yourself, being is not normal and i would hate to be surrounded by gays at college

  • Comment removed

  • * being gay is not normal

  • @moe761 WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?

  • @moe761 You're fucked. I sincerely hope NYU doesn't want you.

  • @moe761 is everyone gay? should that even be factor to your decision process? If you haven't realized yet, the world now has a large gay community, especially nyc. NYC is filled with open minded people. So if you have a problem with the gay community, then don't apply to NYU. It's in the heart of the village, where a lot of open minded people hang out. There's a big punk and gay scene in that area, which is no problem. But, NYU probably wouldn't want you.

  • NYU dude, no questions asked

  • NYU, it's a lot better. Duh. And you video blog. Youre cool.

  • unc

  • YOU ARE SO HOT. I hope you went to NYU. I'll see you there.

  • I'm making the exact same choice! I was so surprised to find this video. Right there with you, buddy. (Well, where you were last year :P )

  • This too shall pass..........................

  • Nooo no no, not unc

  • What was your high school GPA?

  • you. are. hot.

  • Ahhh!

I really want to go to nyu.

I'm a sophomore in high school so yea lol I have a awhile

but like. What did you do in high school to prepare you for NYU

like gpa wise and extra curricular activities and stuff.

What do you think I need to do to make the chances of them accepting me likely ha?

    Pleasssse Reply to thissss

I'd really really realllllllllllllllllly appreciate it!

  • @aliadrenalin statistically speaking, it seems that NYU accepts you for ECs and test scores. The average unweighted GPA is pretty low for a school ranked as high as NYU; however, the SAT and ACT average test scores are great. In short, maintain an unweighted GPA above 3.67 and get a 1440 + on your SAT.

  • You know what? Tuitions for private universities are ridiculous in USA. I love being in my country - at least you get good education for low price. Choose NYU.It's in NY.I'm sure you'll love it

  • NYU YES

  • im sort of in the same situation except im trying to decide between NYU which is in my hometown or occidental in LOS ANGELES!

  • @Shortie3174

DUDE. i was deciding between nyu and oxy too. i was a prospy a few weeks ago. the place is awesssooooooome. i'm going to nyu because i'm going for arts stuff and oxy seems a little underfunded in that (although they have programs with other art schools). im in nyc too. you prob made your decision already though haha

  • @LotusHacker

    i chose NYU too haha

  • i am in exactly the same situation right now and i'm wondering where you decided to go!

  • i am in exactly the same situation right now and i'm wondering where you decided to go!

  • Dude go to NYU its the best the dorms are awesome there is a subway outside each dorm building classes are great go to NYU

  • Haha, he's been there for months dude.

  • im going to nyu go there!

  • NYU! I'm going there! :DD

  • NYU is expensive

  • Save NYU for gradute school. UNC is among the best, and as a state resident, you will get a decent financial aid package.

  • NYU

  • Kid don't go to NYU.

They are a bunch of thieves!!

  • NYU all the way, the dorms are fantastic and the name will help you go far .... but it depends on your major, that's why I chose it anyway!

  • UNC is ranked higher than NYU, and NYU is way cheaper, which one did you pick though?

  • ????

You mean NYU is ranked higher than UNC, and UNC is cheaper.

  • @tommytom9 lol I have bad dyslexia

sometimes. I meant UNC is cheaper lol, I

don't feel like researching into it right now

but I know off the top of my head UNC

ranks 2nd in Best Pharmacy Schools

way ahead of NYU, additionally by memory

I can say confidently that it surpasses NYU in several other "Best Schools of"

categories. You can look it up yourself if

    you don't believe me.

  • @esca8652 As does NYU surpass UNC in several programs, its just that NYU has is more well known partially due to its location.

  • i would have choosen NYU

  • If NYU doesn't work out for any reason, you can always transfer to UNC. There's no shame in that.

  • NYU

Prepare to starve to death and go broke. :-)

  • @ImNotYourFriend212 not if you get financial aid

  • NYU

  • NYU.

    live a little :)

  • Bcuz........ I Went to nyu

  • NYU! i lived in that area n u would love it!

  • give it to meeeeeeeeee

  • Have you seen?

    Because I went to NYU

  • Comment removed

  • runpoochrun-No thats not my story. I am an old straight dude with most of my life behind me. I have seen carl talk on his videos about these sorts of comments from some people. I got 3 grandsons around Carls age and watching him gives me a better insight reflecting youth life. I'm closing by saying I really think you need to think before speaking and spreading foul shit around that shows you have no of Carl's qualities

  • U N C !

  • NYU

  • UNC :)

  • Carl last week I started watching your videos. I am trying to catch and have seen some of them out of order. I am an old dude straight married with grandchildren. I just what to say that you are an outstanding human being with God given inner qualities, strenght and understanding that is really impressive. I wish and hope the best for you. Good luck with your choice. If you want the Stage isn't NYC the place?? if it is NYC Please be careful of their gay scene. UNC IS COOL SO IS THEIR BB

  • Why do you even write such negative things, it is bad enough to think it, but why even share you negative thoughts? no one agrees with you, just stop the negativity, no one cares what you think.

  • you should go to UNC because you'll get a great education

  • go unc

  • So, have you decided what school you're settling on?

  • Actually, jk I just read your little 'about me' section on your page, congrats!

  • unc!!!!!!

  • Moscow is more expensive than NY. :P

  • UNC! is your area, affordable, AND the school is not that important when you personally are smart, motivated, mature!! enjoy be happy.

  • i live in nyc its great and amazing but its really expensive with taxes and stuff. i would most definenitely choose nyu.

  • Which UNC?

  • new york city sucks so bad

  • 1:15 HAHAHAH

  • Ha, my dad was in the same EXACT situation - UNC or NYU. NYU gave him a full scholarship but he still chose UNC... even though you've already made your decision by now (since it's past May 1st),

    i'd still like to say:

GO TO NYU. Haha, i got in and i'm going to Tisch for Film & TVnext year. should be awesome. so yes. go to NYU. plus you're gorgeous.

  • i live in new york and it sucks, taxes are mad high and theres a bunch of other stuff to beware of....unc is my dream to go there. but, its your choice man...

  • What'd you end up choosing?

  • NYU trust me. that is my dream.

    -G

  • And why, pray tell, is this shithole of a school your dream?

  • get a life.

Yep. Looks like someone's a bit hypocritical.

  • i repeat. get a life.

  • hahahaha pwned

    xD

    nice.

  • UNC ALL THE WAY DUDE

  • NYU!!!! i live in new yourk all my life and everyone thinks it sucks but its amazing and dont let anyone tell u otherwise. and pepole say nyu is full of snoty rich kids but its not!!!!

  • NYU !! but since u grew up in norh carolina it's a big difference trust me I grew up in Queens ny and then moved to charlotte nc. And i's different bro but you could always get used to it.

  • HEy Carl :)

I have the same problem .

What i think you need to think is ,is the course at nyu or unc better for you , in the long run , which one has a better chance for you the pursue your carrier ?

i have this horrible disition to make as well. but it depends which one has a better course.

i hope you understand that sorry its not better explained for you =P

    hope it helps u :)

    love me

    DerrickXx

  • NYUU!!!!!!!!!! all the way! congrats!

  • Go to NYU. It's totally worth it.

  • Hey Dude, We just moved back to New York from NC. NYU is the place for you.

  • NYU XD

  • hey stiggity, if you're gonna insult a school at least use the correct spelling. It's 'douche bag' not 'douscebag'. And I think he should go to NYU. You know travel around a bit, see the world. New people, new surroundings, it'd be cool.

  • Don't go to NYU. You'll become a mindless liberal douscebag.

  • i live in new york.go there.lol.jk.go where ever you feel will make you happiest.

my sister is going to North Carolina State!!!That is in the same state.lol

  • i vote unc! it's one of the best public universities in the nation, great academics, great athletics, great weather, great people..i could go on and on. as stated, there are pros and cons to each choice. i think in the end you'll be happy with whichever you choose, though it'd be awful to think everyday, "what if?" so just go with your heart! (cheesy, i know)

i wish i were in your situation 'cause i would without a doubt choose unc 'cause i'm a true blue carolina girl! best of luck! :)

  • cal i hope you can really help me with something um im thinking about going to a pre ib school do you recommend it or anyone who sees this comment i would really appreciate it por favor te lo ruego

  • Don't worry. There's no wrong decision. You'll do fine either way. NYC is a pretty special place to experience, though. Good luck with your decision.

  • Mate, I am an Aussi, I have been to NYC and I loved every second of it. I have spent a lot of time in other people's countries (big cities and out in the countryside), and NYC is "the" most amazing city I have ever visited, once you see the place you will never want to leave!

    Good luck mate!

  • new york city is amazing. its so busy and crazy but its a good kind of busy and crazy. you really need to visit because you may find out that you really like the city (as did I). I had my mind set on going around my home, but when I went to visit NYU (and I got in to class of fall 2009 :P ), it was amazing. yeah tuition this year is 54,441. they gave me a ton of aid..so i dont have to worry about borrowing any from banks thank god. but anyway, just visit, because it may be something you love.

  • GO UNC

  • Carolina is a great place for meeting folks, being yourself, being gay and of course, the job networking is fantastic. Go with your gut, but I hope you select Carolina.

  • i love nyu and won't leave now that i'm hear. but if you're AT ALL worried about the money, don't go. you can't count on financial aid to meet your requirements. they're a private institution so they will give you only what they feel like giving you. New York is incredibly expensive and it's only your undergrad. don't put yourself through the stress of the financial burden if it's even the slightest of a concern

  • You definitely need to visit NYU before deciding. I actually had the same exact conflict as you until I visited. Up until then I was like "ohhh I could definitely live in the city, bla bla bla" but after visiting NYU I realized that I could never actually live there. It has a great program but there's not a campus- it literally IS new york city. And unc is probably cheaper for you :]

  • As students at UNC-CH, we just wanted to say after everyone saying "go to NYU" we say.. GO TO CAROLINA! You don't REALLY know UNC until you're a student, trust us. It's amazing, we're good at everything [academics & sports], there's low crime rate, and IT'S CHEAP. Hey it isn't called "Heaven on Earth" for nothing. :)

    -Maria & Christy :)

  • go to NYU

  • Comment removed

  • NYC isn't the most expensive city in the world at ALL, but def most expensive in America

  • Go to NYU. Better school and the contacts it has will pay off. NYC is ok, kinda rude and dirty, but fun.

  • I go to NYU (and can't afford it either) and my advice for you is to just weigh the decision and decide which is best (I know, so helpful). NYU has loads of resources you just can't get anywhere else, but it is incredibly expensive as you said. Just visit the "campus" and see if it clicks with you -- that's what got me.

  • Hey Carl, I hope you enjoy your trip to NYC. Be sure to carefully consider everything while you are there. I speak from personal experience...I moved there when I was 20 and was outa there in less than a year. You have REALLY, REALLY WANT to live there. I am sure wha tever decision you make will be the correct one that is best for your future.

  • Oh jeez, NYU is a slam dunk.

  • My niece went to NYU and she loved the school and fell in love with NYC where she remains ten years after graduating.

  • wow thats great...I think going to college in NYU will teach you a lot of things. There are various opportunities and resources.I'm an international student from london and I'm still waiting for a notification letter from NYU but its great you got accepted.

  • NYU, i love NYC, never been there b4, but i watched sex&the city... all seasons and every episode...

  • happy 4 u <3

  • im sure you will make the right chioce in the end. you know UNC and know ppl the area, its nice to have familliar things when things build up, but NYC, its NYC :-) and im from united kingdom lol. new york :-)

either way Uni is what you make it not where its at. im sure you will not mind either one you choose :-)

    richard x

  • go to nyu its an amazing collage

  • CONGRATULATIONS!

  • NYC will look good on your Job apps.

  • nyu is too fuckin expensive...and the sweet tea(if u find any)...is gna be wack compared to the south...stay in da durrty durrty bb!

  • UNC (changed my mind)

  • New York can be "dangerous" for stupid people, careless people, paranoid Nebraskan tourists, and Little Old Ladies (though some of the LOLs who live there could knock a guy flat & brag about it over tea the next day). For everyone else it's a matter of staying alert and developing the basic skills of urban living. The people most scared of living in New York have likely never done it and would probably be almost as scared of living in Fresno.

The most important tool for city living is brains.

  • Don't be afraid to start new go for NYU!!!

  • It depends on your major!!! If you are into business admin... NYU is worth a chance. But you have to study hard and work hard. You can find internships easily in NY, NJ or CT for summer. Now if you are into Engineering UNC is good... If you can support yourself with student loans for education in either university, then NYU has a better chance in getting the exposure you need for a good income potential. Only drawback, Cost of living is high in NYC... Good Luck...

  • NYC is an amazing city (but it's true, it's reallllly expensive), but if you're looking for a "central campus," like one with a grassy area surrounded by the school's buildings and dorms, then NYU isn't really a great choice. It's campus IS Greenwich Village, and there is no central "college space" if you know what I mean.

I dunno anything about UNC, but I just wanted to make sure yoy know that about NYU. (if you didn't already--which you probably did)

    hope that...helped?

  • NYU!

isn't the whole point of college to experience new things? i think going to NY will give new a new perspective on things :)

  • who is this 'ausieBum80' ur a gay..!?

  • wtf does this have to do with 'gay'??? LOL.. youre really cute anyways

  • Hey I think both schools would be awsome I know they are both on my top 5 collages I want to try to get into.what kinda grades I wonder do u have to get into those schools. Nyc is amazing I must say any gay mans dreama my uncle lives there and I love going to visit him. Any ways good luck to you and I hope u enjoy your school of choice.

  • NYU would be my choice. More challenging academically and great cultures and a different view of life. My wife lived in NYC and knew opera in the first grade.

  • I'm in DIT :P haha i know..."Random!", but I just thought I'd share that fact.

  • sounds like youre in NC already, tuition is what for instate residents .. less than 8k a year without considering board?

If money's an issue then your choice seems pretty obvious to me.

  • you're so hot.... you're gay or straight???

  • UNC :]

  • NYU man. New York is awesome. I've lived in NY my entire life and the breadth of experience you will acquire here is second to none especially in the arts. NYU is expensive but they are pretty good about financial aid too. Life in the city can be expensive or not depending on how you like to live. In college I shared a studio apartment so it was actually pretty cheap but I was willing to do that. If you have questions about NY, message me.

  • UNC..... for sure! i got my acceptance today! UNC is an amazzzzing place!

  • UNC! Haha I totally just applied and got accepted to UNC. I just moved to North Carolina and I love it! You should totally stay!

  • dont do NYU, the city will eat you up and it will be much harder for you to do good with your studies. I'd go closer to home.. just my opinion.

  • NYU!!!!! nyc is sooo awesome. ogmomgomomggggg nyu. personally, i think its awesome, but it depends on what you like.

  • UNC UNC UNC UNC UNC!!!!!

  • jamenfun ... diversity is right. Not only diversity in culture, ethnicity, background, etc., but teaching quality. Several professors I have had here are amazing. But most from the econ department (which I'm majoring in) have trouble speaking English and/or don't seem to give two shits about the students. Furthermore, the sports facilities here suck (compared to a lot of other universities). If you think you'll like it because of NY, guess what? Even NY gets boring after awhile.

  • NYU!

    handss down!

  • I am telling you to choose NYU, seriously. Think about the education you would receive, their staff and professors are diverse and not just culturally but professionally. My brother gradutated Salutatorian from NYU, and I can't even tell you the opportunity that is there after graduation. The life experiences you would receive in NY would be unparalleled than any other plase ESPECIALLY UNC. Of course it would be more money, but really their commitment to excellence you will not find at unc.

  • u sound like me...i applied to nyu and got accepted too...but im from a really small town in roanoke, va,,,,like ure town kinda...theres nothing to do...and i have aspirations of getting out in the world and hoping to be as successful as possible so i thought nyu is the best place for me...BUT when i got there it was totally different for me and i think it was to big of a change all of a sudden..like theres no mountains....no southern hospitality from the ppl there...and NO SWEET TEA! haha

  • NYC is only a 45 to hour train ride to the mountains

upstate or the Long Island shores. You can get any

type of tea you want and even have it delivered to

your apartment at 11PM. Money is an issue here and

one has to sacrifice a lot to experience the city. ie. tiny

apts, etc. Just be sure you absolutely love the city first.

I moved to NYC because I always wanted to live here since I was 14! plus I totally hated small town living.

Going to the mall is not my idea of living.

  • If there is a way to make it happen (with the help of maybe Grants, Loans etc) I think you should choose NYU. You will always regret it if you don't....especially if your shirt is any indictation of what you want to do in the future. NYC will LOVE you, and you will love NYC! The opportunity is amazing there. Go while you are young. Saying you will go sometime in the future puts you on a long list of people that have said that and never made it.

  • pick nyu it will bring you closer to meee. '

i say that in the least stalkerish was possible. lol

  • A dergree from NYU is a great thing to put on a resume. Plus you will love NY what a fun and diverce city. Go experiance something different and new while you are young. NYU all the way.

  • DO NOT ATTEND NYU.

I go there, the reason being that it was the only school I had time to apply to.

I wish I had applied to more schools.

    NYU is MASSIVELY overrated.

  • I made a similar decision when going to college. I had to choose between a state school where a lot of my friends went, and a more well-known, more expensive school far away. I chose the state school with some of my friends, and I've never regretted it. You do make all new friends, but knowing a few people helps a lot, and I was able to come out of school debt free. You'll do well whichever you choose I'm sure.

  • NYU Is a great school and will pay off in the big picture of life. I know NY is a BIG change and hard to deal with. But if you can do it. NYU all the way.

    Thats my 2 cents...

  • I think NYU would be a new experience and you can look back and say that you experienced life in both areas.

  • Stretch out your feelings... if that doesn't work out then find a close friend and get shit-drunk... it probably won't help but getting drunk is fun anyway. Seriously though, you know UNC... NYU seems like more unstable a setting for you. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide.

  • unc fo sho.

    theyre beassttt.

new york is a great city but the college isnt as beash as UNC.

go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc! go unc!

  • the one that gives the best education is the one you should go to . . . cost then comes next and every thing ells will fall in to the plan ;)

  • I would suggest that going to NYU would be immersion in your GLBTQ experience rather than commuting to it, if that is important to you. For a postgraduate degree afterwards, Princeton, Cornell, Johns Hopkins or UNC would be well within you geographical and comfort zone depending on your field of study.

  • you do know you can go to NYU for a full year and then transfer back to UNC. It might be troublesome with the application process, but at least you would get the whole NY experience. =]

  • go to ny :)

  • I think it all depends on what you want to study. Which college has the better course! But I would say NYU all the way! Its great to get out of your home town etc. I had the option of going to the Uni in Plymouth (UK) to study Marketing, which is an hour from where I from but I went to London and studied PA and Ive never looked back so I definitely recommend moving away. But im sure whatever you decide will be the right decision because your a intelligent guy and have lots of respect for you! x

  • I guess it's about what you want out of college life. I have the choice to either go to Chicago or a state school and I really didn't hesitate in deciding to go to Chicago. I want to see and experience a world I'm not familiar with.

It's perfectly fine to want that support structure when you go off on your own for the first time...it's just want you want, I guess.
