This is one of waylons best songs.Country used to be the white mans blues now its just phony pop music.Pretty people with cowboy hats on.I hate it.Waylon was a part of my childhood.
I sure miss u Waylon, Thanks for all of this great music u left with us to share in your Honor!!!! RIP! Nobody did it like, and i mean nobody!!!! #1 on my list! Rebel Music
ust for the record, saw an ad by BP with this video trying to make out like they're human. and again, just for the record, i ain't buyin' it. i still think BP sucks. the only good thing about the crime they committed against nature in the gulf of mexico was that none of their board of directors actually got into the water there. that might have precipitated a crisis from which the gulf could never recover.

my Heart is heavy right now, i need comfort.. so here i am. daughter was flown out to N.D last night.. , so i need a picker upper ! Waylonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn !
Waylon is my GOD!! The original, and only REAL Outlaw, who did things his way, or no way at all! Unlike the girly-boy wannabes who call themselves country boys. I, and ALL proud Rednecks, Rebels, and other "misfits" respectfully bow at his alter!!
I worked with Waylon on a television special in the mid 1980s. I was a young kid & I was in awe of him. True gentleman & a great musician. We'll never see the likes of him again. A true showman!
Ov er the years I had heard of that song but never took it seriously till I was learning the song yesterday and it really blew me away. This was among Waylon's great tunes I theroly enjoyed. This is now among my favorite Waylon Jennings tunes.
Never paid much attention to Waylon..then one day I wanted to listen to "Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys". From that moment on I was hooked. Great music, Waylon !
todays country music has lost "the hook" that was usually done by a great steel player or guitarist or even just an a arranger that understands the jonre. pretty girls are nice and guys in ripped up jeans worked for awhile but they need to get back to basic country "twang". this "urban cowboy" lyric driven crap is dead.find some "pickers" and lets start making country music again !!!
I never get sick of this song. I worked out of state in the middle of North Dakota for 4 months in 2008 and rented a bedroom in an old farmhouse in a town of about 200 people. I luckily brought this album along and I'm surprised I didn't wear out the cd player in my truck. We worked 80 hour weeks pouring concrete and the only breaks we got were the few days when it poured rain. You can bet I listened to this song on those days!
I found this 45 recently, and it blows my mind, listening it analog, with loud speakers, blasting, and knee slappin, hot dang, this is what C&W IS!!!! HOLY FO*KING SH*T is this GREAT! Thanks! Thanks!
This is a great song no doubt , however Ralph ( pick it moon) Mooney does some of his best work on this track Waylon was great himself and he also had the best backing him up
I saw Waylon a bunch of times in the 70's and 80's.. met him a few times.. always a really nice guy in person.. although his drummer was always a dickhead to fans..
let me see if i got this story right. lol didnt he obtain his guitar while writing this song????????? im trying to think if that is when he started playing that white and black electric guitar??anybody know please correct me. lol godbless.
It's a shame I'll never see him in concert now. The closest I'll get is an impersonator I saw one night in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada. When I heard this song on the radio, quite a few years ago now, I thought it was so good I'd go and buy some of his music. Waylon was awesome; we lost a great talent when he passed away.
thats what hapens when you have one group of friends saying " youre very impressionable arent you?" ,,,,and the others, including one that supposedly loves you saying: " its only gonna get worse"...well it did.
"that woman of mine she ain't happy... till she find something wrong & someone to blame... if it ain't one thing it's another one on the way"... killer lyrics. can't get enough of the steel guitar either. my new favorite waylon track.
In my opinion this song is one of the BEST C&W songs ever. Recorded in '73 (I Believe) & it STILL sounds incredible. Waylon killing the lead & Moon romping the steel ,It doesn't get any better. Nashville pretty much sucks today. Waylon is King & always will be!
I'm a hugh Waylon fan. I recorded on of his songs and posted it as a response. Working Without A Net. Please take a moment and check it out and comment if you like. Thanks, Sherrill
Heard this song on my University of Montana radio station last week. I had to stop the car and write down the name of the song so I could here it again; it was that good to me.
Heard this song while I was a long distance trucker back in the Nineties. I decided right then to buy some of his music ASAP; still like listening to him. It's just too bad I'll never see him in concert now. The closest I've come to that is seeing an impersonator at a local bar. He wasn't bad actually but it wasn't Waylon.
Waylon with his kick ass baritone voice and the master Ralph Mooney on steel. Why do we have to listen to 4 minute pop country crap while this awesome song only lasts 2.5 minutes?
One of my all time favourite people from Texas. Dear Waylon, I miss listening to your music on CJET radio Smiths Falls which played all the country greats.
waylon jennings didnt write this song.. he just plays it better than anyone else!

The steel guitar should be named after the person who played it in this song.
It is the only reason why I love this song.

The steel player on this is Ralph Mooney, or "Moon". Before joining Waylon, Moon was Buck Owens' steel player for many years and many many hits.
