I've seen Phantom many times on Broadway, have seen the movies including the musical version, and must say I was blown away by this performance. I'd feared that it would be a concert as was done with Les Miserable, but was thrilled to find it a filming of a live performance! Lavish sets, score and more just as seen on Broadway with the exception of the chandelier. (I prefer this version as it was more believable.
Why is it the score is the fourth element advertised? It's a sad world we live in where scene changes are thought to be a more important aspect of a musical than the music itself.
@Tohruuu No, I have to disagree. The 2004 movie adaptation was an incredible change to the original stage production and I don't think anything else can ever top the Andrew Lloyd Webber version like that movie did. I recently bought the 25th anniversary at Royal Albert Hall and though I loved it, I wouldn't even consider that close to anything running on Broadway even. Too many unnecessary changes and it was a bit too "rock 'n roll" for my taste.
Thank goodness it was shown here in the Philippines, though no longer live telecast but it was spectacular! Planning to watch it again before the last day of showing on the 18th.
I can't WAIT to see this musical on Wednesday! I've been obsessed with The Phantom of the Opera and Erik's story for about a year now, and I've been awaiting a professional production of the musical! LONG LIVE ERIK AND HIS LEGACY!!! KILL THE FOP!!!!
Omg! I was so afraid they weren't gonna broadcast it in my state!!! I just found out they'll do it in the theater in my town!!!!!! Yes, yes, YES!!!!!!!!!!! I just died of a poto overdose! I can't wait to see this!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 :D :D :D :D :D
Seen this in London last year and I have loved it ever since I was 12 and thats me now booked to see it at Aberdeen cinema in Scotland and preordered it on DVD too. I soooooo can not wait !!!
I'll be there for two performances. I'm coming from TN, and I have spent a fortune on good seats. My only regret is that Gina Beck and Rebecca Lock won't be participating as they have other commitments, and that Simon Bailey, the Raoul in this Vid with Gina as Christine, won't be reprising the role of Raoul, though he will be playing the role of a soldier in Act I, and a fireman in Act II. At least we do have our amazing Ramin karimloo as Phantom. Whoever is Raoul will not be any better than SB
GUYS. THERE WILL BE A DVD *AND* IT WILL BE PLAYED IN MOVIE THEATERS.
This was confirmed on the Facebook page! Look online to see where it's playing near you! For anyone living in Orange County- it will be playing in Tustin!
I absolutely adore this musical. I have ever since I first saw the 2004 movie and then moved on to love the original cast. I saw Phantom on Broadway in January. Fantastic music, costumes, and performers. Happy 25th <3
@Annoushka2000 don't think they're screening it...that was easier with les mis because they could stream it like they were doing on the screens in the o2 arena...i can't wait for the dvd...
I WANT TO SEE IT LIVE SOOOOOO BAD !!! People who are living in London are so lucky... I live in Serbia, which is far from England. And my biggest fear is that they will stop performing PotO, but they can't! Until I see it at Her Majesty's Theater!!!!
I saw this on saturday and completely fell in love! this show is BEYOND PHENOMENAL! <3 I would definately recommend this as a must see in Vegas! I think i must go see it again :)
I can't believe Wynne Evans is playing Piangi! Even though he is an amazing tenor.... Whenever I see him all I can think of is "Go compare.... go compare..."
I'd be exceptionally ecstatic if they put this on DVD. Phantom of the Opera is my life, I sing it everyday. It inspired me at the age of 14 to be a 1st Soprano. I can almost sing every note, I am just missing two. I openly admit that I am obsessed with this Musical. It has impacted my life, it brings me to a whole other world of Magik, Love, and Music. Thank Andrew Lloyd Webber for this phenomenal Musical and Congratulations on 25 years. Please put this on DVD!!
Please, I am like many stuck somewhere where we can't see our favorite musical (I am from Serbia) but could you please have a tour across the universe in the honor of 25 years of work? The movie was really good too,but I have to tell you it's not the same if you see this LIVE or live recorded on DVD. Those people who live in London are the happiest on Earth, some of them don't even now how much lucky they are. And you CAN'T STOP PERFORMING PHANTOM UNTIL I SEE IT! Then, I can die happily in peace!

Isn't Ramin coming back to do a one time performance as the Phantom celebrating the 25th anniversary? Or did I hear wrong? Hmm..maybe he's just singing,..I'm not sure.
@heyheymister Hi, I don't know if anyone has answered you, but it was Robert Guillame. When he played the role (in LA?) apparently there was uproar - how could there be a black phantom? This was Paris after all! @animelover13579 If they were to make a DVD of this, that would require the musical to cease to run. Those of us who cant travel to Royal Albert Hall can only hope they film it and put it out on DVD or something.... I would LOVE to see it, I want to see Ramin Karimloo play the Phantom so bad!
By the way, great cast....but no my first choice for Phantom, and sure not my first for Christine either. Hugh Panaro, John Owen-Jones, Gina Beck and Anna O'Byrne all the way.
Will it be shown in selected cinema screens like Les Mis? I really really really hope so, sooooo many people will be missing out on this amazing experience if the performance is limited just to the Royal Albert Hall. Oh and I'm personally hoping for Ramin Karimloo to play the Phantom XD ooooooo and I really hope there's a DVD release! I'm so excited!
I've performed there.

the role of Christine was well and truly superceded by Sierra Boggess, she should be renamed Sierra Godess,
too bad the "HD" versions is just an upscaled SD version and the audio is stereo not 5.1. Least on the Itunes version it seems to be

Those of us who cant travel to Royal Albert Hall can only hope they film it and put it out on DVD or something.... I would LOVE to see it, I want to see Ramin Karimloo play the Phantom so bad!

What about Meg, Raoul and Carlotta???
By the way, great cast....but no my first choice for Phantom, and sure not my first for Christine either. Hugh Panaro, John Owen-Jones, Gina Beck and Anna O'Byrne all the way.

Will it be shown in selected cinema screens like Les Mis? I really really really hope so, sooooo many people will be missing out on this amazing experience if the performance is limited just to the Royal Albert Hall. Oh and I'm personally hoping for Ramin Karimloo to play the Phantom XD ooooooo and I really hope there's a DVD release! I'm so excited!
