it started as "white soap" which was 100% white soap

then 1 worker left a batch stir while he was on lunch

thus fussing air with it (he got promoted)

so "ivory soap" is 99% white soap and 1% air

Interesting you should mention soap and electricity... the Incandescent light bulb and the famous Procter & Gamble invention "Ivory Soap" were both made in October of 1879. And the 'legend' in this vid is absolutely true, the machine that made the soap was indeed left on for too long, but people wrote in favourable reviews of the ivory soap and it was made a separate soap product line.
