All of those children are so beautiful. I work with children and my dream is to go to Africa and help these children in whatever way possible to make their lives a little brighter and give them hope, play with them so for 10 inutes they can 4get about the pain and anguish of their lives. Its not fair that their are murderers out there perfectly healthy and theses beautiful children and families destroyed by this virus. I pray to God that one day we will find a cure to help them, we live in hope!

This video has left me in tears. I can not even begin to imagine what it must be like to grow up in a nation devestated by the AIDS epidemic. The images in this video are absolutely incredible. If you just look into the children's eyes, you can sense the kind of pain and tragedy they experience day in and day out. These poor children are surrounded by disease and poverty, and so many are left orphaned. It is disgusting to see how these children live in comparison to children here in America.

As little as you understand, at least understand that these people need our help. We don't know how they feel, how hard they work to survive a regular day, or how much pain they suffer with. We don't know because we're fortunate enough to not have to deal with that, but we can at least try out absolute best to help...

Now I understand that there might be some ethical problems with the idea of promoting the use of any sort of contraception...but how can you solve this problem in a cost-effective manner? I'm open to suggestions...I personally would love to see a vaccine developed to prevent HIV but I know that empowering women, children, and the poor alone will def. equalize the impact of HIV.

If one want's to help children impacted by AIDS, one has to first address the root of the problem and that is the lack of rights given to women in most African societies. A UNAIDS/WHO report stated that women are 75% more likely to contract HIV. This is due to things like lack of sexual autonomy, marital rape, not having the ability to use a condom even if your husband is adulterous, bride price, inability to move up in the socioeconomic ladder...and the list keeps going..

I have no sympathy for orphaned children whose parents died from AIDS. Reason: Because their parents - or at least one of their parents - were being promiscuous. They shouldn't have been promiscuous. Everyone only needs to have one sexual partner their entire lives - that's all. Otherwise they're slutty. Moreover, if a man has sex while married, he definitely derserves to get HIV and, because he was an adulterer, deserves no sympathy.

This is true-not all African tribal culture, but yes a majority do allow or even encourage a man to be polygamous-it's a sign of wealth. I also want to add though that lack of economic opportunities and migrant work has a lot to do with it too. Men who have to travel far and to make ends meat are tempted to sleeping with prostitutes when they're away from their wives for so long.

What about rape? Millions of African women are raped every year. Militias and armies use rape as a tool of destruction, purposely raping women to infect them with AIDS because they know it will slowly decimate the population they are trying to destroy themselves. God, my heart truly goes out to these people. ALL of these people, women, children, and men all suffering alike. It is truly horrible. I'm glad to see that the funds to help these people doubled. That is truly wonderful.
