Nas, the rappers you mentioned aren't the voices of the black community. Neither is Jessie or Al or any of those cats. True society has changed, it's not the same as it was 20, 30 years ago, but if rappers who don't teach the community anything about how to truly progress in life are the role models, you can see why we're in major trouble
First of all Nas is not trying to be a leader. He is just pointing out the fact that a lot of our so called leaders who are in the forefront criticize rappers without knowing about a lot of the charitable things that they do! Secondly he was pointing out the trouble with compromise in leadership. Out leaders have compromised to the point of cooperating with the same people or institutions that hang them out to dry. He supports a leader who shows promise of making change and not compromising.
fuck jesse. fuck al. fuck oprah. in fact, fuck everybody who isn't black that keeps running to them assuming they speak for all black people. they're all sell outs, only out for themselves. as for nas, i love the new album. but quit only acknowledging the mainstream. you know damn well the underground's really where hip hop is. hell, you bit little brother's "minstrel show" for your "hip hop is dead" (and used the same kane reference from "the listening") & not once have you even mentioned them.
Nas sounds like a real coon talking like that. I mean...honestly, David who?... They can never be my leader, hip hop doesnt have a damn thing at heart now a days. Artists have sold their sold for paper and making one song about how niggas in jail should hold their head up but then the next ten tracks about pushing drugs is NOTTTTT HELPING A GOT DAMN PERSON. So to hell with BANNER and to hell with NAS for thinking that they are the voice of this generation. Shit I have my OWN voice!!!!!
I totally agree with "nisastar". I would never want a rapper to speak as the voice of my generation. Of course David Banner has been known to help the community, but his songs and videos, represent the definition of a true "Nigger". Until rappers learn to glorify education, knowledge of history, and self-love to stop the hatred amongst young black men and women...I will speak for myself also.
can you i magine that we would rule the world i tell you if you go around asking how many people knows martin speech in the world would be less than the people who knows if i rule world by nas get it yet? nah ok fantasia america idol artist had more votes than the democratic president last election, but now we have a chance to have a BLACK president instead of jesse encourage hip hop artists to support barack he is playin' hatin' tha'ts fuck up i would vote barack 1,000,000 times if could
to all those uphere commenting the negativity of hip hop my question to you is, can a son be sucessfull without support of father? my answer yes it can with a father figure it is ESIER why is that? hip hop is # 1 method of communication in other to Outreach to World is offcourse a multi-billion dollars industry but foremost is the way to let people know, what if jesse,al sharpton and all the greatest trough-out the nation could be the father figure to hiphop,
Nas: Young Jeezy and David Banner? I will put my head in between my legs and kiss my black ass goodbye if those were the new so-called black "leaders".
The hip hop industry has glorified a lot of destructive and self-destructive behavior. It has helped perpetuate many of the issues that people in the black comunity are trying to solve. I believe in hip-hop as a means of activism and change because I know that it is has the power. However it is not there yet. So much of it has lead a whole generation astray. It is unfortuate but hip-hop is not the same.
There are the good artists and the bad ones. The ones who use their mic for uplift and others who use it for degradation. I actually expected Nas to know the difference but he doesn't dropping names like David Banner and Young Jeezy.
is it the same as our president our country saying in god we trust then go kill men women and children? You have to realize what world YOUR living in..these artist are from the streets and have more powerful voices than politicians. NAS pump hate and love just like our country pump hate and love..im sure youre the same way..its who we all are..NAS is out in the streets making a statement and your on youtube making statements..what difference are you making?
young jeezy come on nas talk like you know what you talking about thats why i dont like him he lost how you the voice i aint heard you say shit who the fuck gon follow you not me make some sense first learn how to lead thats yo biggest problem you want to be 2pac but you not
I support Obama but I am aware of his shortcomings and I have not always agreed with him during this election. I also refuse to defend him when I feel that he doesn't need defending.
I am always confused as to why the hip-hop community comes out so strong for Obama when they also cared so much about the Sean Bell verdict. He said to respect the verdict and that we are "a nation of laws" which means that he was trying to get at one of two things-Black people are lawless or the laws of the land allow free reign to kill black people and use excessive force at will.
Think about it though. The latter of what you said is probably true. In the United States constitution black males are considered to be worth 1/8th the worth of caucasian males. Till this day, that's still in there. That was an intergral part in the founding of the country. Now, just on that alone, it can be said that a black life doesn't hold high worth.
When I was 15 I was arrested for property damage. I was damn near given juvie and 4-to live in jail. How come the law is so fast to destroy a life but when life is destroyed like the case with Latasha back at the start of the L.A. riots, they'll give a killer a slap on the wrist? I don't know, just some things to think about.
I hear that. My mother recently retired as a probation officer in the South Bronx. She spoke all the young black men who are in the system whether fairly or unfairly. It didn't matter why they were there because the reality was that they were doing to have the book thrown at them regardless. After having the book thrown at them on top of already being black, their lives are then truly destroyed. Nobody is looking to give them a second chance and it follows them the rest of their lives.
I have always called it a conspiracy because i am sorta radical like that. the criminal justice system in this country needs to be reformed from top to bottom.
I completely hear that line of reasoning and that in itself is a clear indicator of the moral of our nation. However if we were to put our hopes and dreams in a black president, shouldn't his goal and our goal be to change that? I understand that he is in between a rock and a hard place. I know that giving passionate answers to issues having to do with race is like a Catch 22 for him, damn if you do, damn if you dont. This is the exact reason why I refuse to put my hope and dreams in him.
Any President, Black, White, Asian, or Hispanic still has obligations to fill. There is a chain of command and the President is not on the top. Lets keep it real. You can be Black but when your in that suit, your raceless. This is because the President is suppose to represent the greater needs of the country. Have you ever wondered why everyone with color is considered a minority? The president is just the driver in the car that is the country. Now, if that driver is Black, White, Asian or
Hispanic, they still have to follow the rules of the road, they just can't start going 100 mi per hour. When It comes down to it, the problem's not with Obama. The country has laws and hierarchies to regulate power to the rich, wealthy and affluent. Its like the Rap game. Major labels run the show and tell all your favorite artists what to say, dress and how to look. Most artists have little to no power in their early careers without any help from headliner artists (thats just like how president
Of course, I understand that. I said already that he will be the figure head of a white supremacist society. I am keeping it real because black people are becoming collectively retarded in that they think Obama will be their "leader" when he has to represent the interests of the dominant community and blacks are not simply a minority but a constituency that has been marginalized, constantly ignored and taken for granted as well as maligned. Also I hate the word "raceless".
When someone says "raceless", you are basically saying that being white is not a race. That is because being white has been naturalized, seen as normal and set as default. Everyone else is seen as the "other". That in my book is problematic and is one of the key issues that I have with assimilation.
I agree with what you say. However, when I say "raceless" Im not talking about a state of being, I am talking about a state of mind. When you go against the general interest of your own people, you are "raceless". The president can be White and "raceless", but that is something your likely never to see. White IS a race and it is generally seen as the one with the 'power' but, it doesn't have to be a White person screwin' you over it could be the 'Brotha' down the block.
In other words, I believe (In addition to what you said) we have to watch our own. Keep them informed. The when we have more leader in our communities, the less we will see our people becoming "collectively retarded". "Keeping it real" again, In the Black community, who is there to look up to? That's why I believe their has been an over pour in Obama support. It's a beautiful thing to see someone who looks like you with power.
While I am an avid supporter, i know what my expectations are of him and i know what to realistically expect from him. As I say, we need to look to those in the grassroots, in local politics, civil rights activists, freedom thinkers and others to become a voice. That voice is not only not Barack obama but barack obama is far from being anyone that we should as a community rely on to make real change.
He has limitations and the executive branch has limitations. we would be singing a sorry tune if we chose to ignore this. we will be singing a sorrier tune if we chose to throw the people who are actually free to help us under the bus and we will be damn near crying if we are left high and dry.
Barack Obama has made comments in front of black crowds that have been disparaging-either they were based in stereotype or wide sweeping generalizations. Some people have not been following a lot of what went on.
I wonder how jesse jackson feel about fox news and do he feel nas fox song (if he heard it). but point blank I think that it was all jesse plan to say what he said while the cameras was off, cause he said barak talking down on black ppl. thinking ppl would say jesse right,(I think jesse knew what they/he was doing all along) because why would he say black ppl when he knows majority of the blacks voting for barack. jesse is jealous of barack cause he didn't go this far when he wanted to be pres.
Jesse Jackson did the WORST thing he could possibly do for Obama saying some bullshit like that. YouTube is a monster people ca just sweep shit under a rug anymore. Dumb fuck.
MistaMississippi you say you are an intelligent black male but you don't even know what you are talking about. Know I wouldn't expect you to know what is going on throughout the intellectual community since you like rap so much but you could at least know your own supposed profession. Alas you don't even know that.
Wanna know "fuck [i'm] talkin bout"? Read some books.
You're saying he doesn't sell records because...? Who could give a shit about a pop song love in the club, you know for yourself that ain't even Nas' style, wanna talk to me about reading a book or even think about questioning my intelligence? Please don't play yourself prophet, or better yet Ms. Cleo because that fits you better. Who said my professionalism was rap? I'm on my hiphop shit, and you can see thru record sales that real hiphop doesn't sell as much as craprap but its still better
Whatever you say, Nas is correct. Why Jessie is going on FOX News in the first place? That's like me walking into a Klan rally and expect to be treat with respect. Or Obama going on Rush Limbaugh show expect to get a fair interview but we all know Rush will humiliate him. If Jessie don't see FOX is setting his ass up, then he deserve what's coming to him.
he's cut his own nuts off XD

I support Obama but I am aware of his shortcomings and I have not always agreed with him during this election. I also refuse to defend him when I feel that he doesn't need defending.

I am always confused as to why the hip-hop community comes out so strong for Obama when they also cared so much about the Sean Bell verdict. He said to respect the verdict and that we are "a nation of laws" which means that he was trying to get at one of two things-Black people are lawless or the laws of the land allow free reign to kill black people and use excessive force at will.
LoveTruth86 3 years ago

ChrisImaniBeatz 3 years ago
I hear that. My mother recently retired as a probation officer in the South Bronx. She spoke all the young black men who are in the system whether fairly or unfairly. It didn't matter why they were there because the reality was that they were doing to have the book thrown at them regardless. After having the book thrown at them on top of already being black, their lives are then truly destroyed. Nobody is looking to give them a second chance and it follows them the rest of their lives.
LoveTruth86 3 years ago
I have always called it a conspiracy because i am sorta radical like that. the criminal justice system in this country needs to be reformed from top to bottom.
It is unfair and nobody can deny that.
LoveTruth86 3 years ago
I completely hear that line of reasoning and that in itself is a clear indicator of the moral of our nation. However if we were to put our hopes and dreams in a black president, shouldn't his goal and our goal be to change that? I understand that he is in between a rock and a hard place. I know that giving passionate answers to issues having to do with race is like a Catch 22 for him, damn if you do, damn if you dont. This is the exact reason why I refuse to put my hope and dreams in him.
LoveTruth86 3 years ago
Any President, Black, White, Asian, or Hispanic still has obligations to fill. There is a chain of command and the President is not on the top. Lets keep it real. You can be Black but when your in that suit, your raceless. This is because the President is suppose to represent the greater needs of the country. Have you ever wondered why everyone with color is considered a minority? The president is just the driver in the car that is the country. Now, if that driver is Black, White, Asian or
ChrisImaniBeatz 3 years ago
Hispanic, they still have to follow the rules of the road, they just can't start going 100 mi per hour. When It comes down to it, the problem's not with Obama. The country has laws and hierarchies to regulate power to the rich, wealthy and affluent. Its like the Rap game. Major labels run the show and tell all your favorite artists what to say, dress and how to look. Most artists have little to no power in their early careers without any help from headliner artists (thats just like how president

Bush came into power).
ChrisImaniBeatz 3 years ago
Of course, I understand that. I said already that he will be the figure head of a white supremacist society. I am keeping it real because black people are becoming collectively retarded in that they think Obama will be their "leader" when he has to represent the interests of the dominant community and blacks are not simply a minority but a constituency that has been marginalized, constantly ignored and taken for granted as well as maligned. Also I hate the word "raceless".
LoveTruth86 3 years ago
When someone says "raceless", you are basically saying that being white is not a race. That is because being white has been naturalized, seen as normal and set as default. Everyone else is seen as the "other". That in my book is problematic and is one of the key issues that I have with assimilation.
LoveTruth86 3 years ago
I agree with what you say. However, when I say "raceless" Im not talking about a state of being, I am talking about a state of mind. When you go against the general interest of your own people, you are "raceless". The president can be White and "raceless", but that is something your likely never to see. White IS a race and it is generally seen as the one with the 'power' but, it doesn't have to be a White person screwin' you over it could be the 'Brotha' down the block.
ChrisImaniBeatz 3 years ago
In other words, I believe (In addition to what you said) we have to watch our own. Keep them informed. The when we have more leader in our communities, the less we will see our people becoming "collectively retarded". "Keeping it real" again, In the Black community, who is there to look up to? That's why I believe their has been an over pour in Obama support. It's a beautiful thing to see someone who looks like you with power.
ChrisImaniBeatz 3 years ago
While I am an avid supporter, i know what my expectations are of him and i know what to realistically expect from him. As I say, we need to look to those in the grassroots, in local politics, civil rights activists, freedom thinkers and others to become a voice. That voice is not only not Barack obama but barack obama is far from being anyone that we should as a community rely on to make real change.
LoveTruth86 3 years ago
He has limitations and the executive branch has limitations. we would be singing a sorry tune if we chose to ignore this. we will be singing a sorrier tune if we chose to throw the people who are actually free to help us under the bus and we will be damn near crying if we are left high and dry.
Its like being in an affair with a married man.

So you would rather the truth be swept under a rug instead of being published/broadcast for the world to see?
I'm not surprised you are an Obama supporter. I bet you wished Rev. Wright would be swept under a rug too huh?

MistaMississippi you say you are an intelligent black male but you don't even know what you are talking about. Know I wouldn't expect you to know what is going on throughout the intellectual community since you like rap so much but you could at least know your own supposed profession. Alas you don't even know that.
Wanna know "fuck [i'm] talkin bout"? Read some books.
prophetofdoom 3 years ago
and again I say What the fuck are you talking about?
MistaMississippi 3 years ago
