Hi! I'm thinking of buying the same one. But here in Russia it is 4000$ for the same mac you have. The question is - would you buy it for this price and is it worth that money?
I'm not playing games much (only sometimes) and I'm not maxing them out, just trying to find optimal settings for each game. Don't know what choose - buy mbp md322 (3000$) and upgrade pc or buy only the iMac.
At 1080p my $800 rig can play the game at very high with AA, so trust me there are computers that can. A 580 could chew through it that high res as well. The problem with your iMac is that it uses a mobile 6970, which is very different than the desktop version. I have the same iMac, and it is a great computer, but for gaming it's a terrible value.
@gamedexterity you are right, it's a laptop high end gfx(equilvalent to a slower mid range desktop graphics, but sometimes it's on par with the gtx550ti. still it's worth to test it.
@OGRMaster I'm sorry but yours didn't come with the 6990. I just bought the highest spec iMac 27inch to date and that has the 6970m. Even with a custom order, you can only upgrade to the 2GB version of the 69070m, you cannot get a 6990.
Bro a lot of gaming rigs can max out crysis. And it's awesome that it can play on high at that resolution! Good performance if only the price wasn't so high

@MrMMMichail Dont buy the 27 inch imac. They have a serious problem with their l.e.d screens dead pixels are know on the 27 inch imac.

I'd say the main problem is trying to play it at the 1440 resolution, bring the res down to 1080 and you shouldn't experience as much lag

I though i7 3.4 comes with 6990gpu? At least mine has. Apparently much faster than 6970.
