I dont have to do a valve ajustment every other ride and I can do over 100mph on it if the trail allows. Its never left me in the Desert and I go out by myself 90 percent of the time.
the best trail bike that i have ever ridden is an xr500r. thats the beast of the trails! very impressive and has incredible torque with the single piston engine. i have never ridden a bike that i thought was better for trails.
they really need to put some work into the shroud and gas tank design, i mean for the 2010, they changed the back fender to white, to match the race bikes, but the front half is still ugly, and they need the headlight off the 450x
i wish the xr 650 r came street legal from the factory but im buying a new L because i want a road legal bike from the factory so i dont have to deal with the DMV. I also like the electric start not that the R is a pain to start

@rcfreak632 Just get a Baja Designs electric start for your XR650R. But come on now in 50years old been riding since 1966 and have never needed a electric starter. I have a custon sticker on my XR thats states KICK START MY HEART.
@rcfreak632 Move to Arizona. A mirror, lights, smog check, and insurince is all you need to make anything out here street legal. They dont even inspect it. Plus you can carry a gun anywhere. the only draw back with AZ is you have to register even a dirt bike now.

Plus you can pack a hog leg and the cops dont give you a secound look. the hog leg is for dumb asses that try to steal your stuff while camping.
LOL! He died 2 weeks after we went riding in that area. I wouldn't ride his bike because i wanted him to ride it. So when he passed, he left the bike to me, so i made this vid for his kids because he followed me on these trails and jumps.

Ya man Calico is 10 miles from the OHV area in Lenwood before, Barstow use to ride there all the time, know I live in Calico and ride just about everyday. The OHV area got too crowded with out of towners with the Trophy trucks, no respect for bikes.
I have one of these , Excellent bike - plenty of power where you need it , Just and absolute PIG to kick start , don't know why they didn't make these electric start - its the only thing i dislike about this bike.
I have one of these too, and mine is a one kick start EVERYTIME, even if it's subzero or scorching hot, one tip is to get rid of that shitty auto-decompressor on the camshaft, it doesn't work like it should.
and check your jetting and make sure the bike is completely uncorcked.
these bikes are not hard starters if they are healthy.
I don't recall exactly when, but I believe it was about a year or two ago. If you look on Honda's website, only the L is shown now. It's sad, really, because it dominated the competition.

Yes, the road is dangerous. I rode a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R for 14,000 miles, and then sold the bike for a snowmachine. You just have to be very carefull of other people.
I do like the KTM. The bike has everything there really is for riding. I just can't afford the maintenance here were I live. Parts cost alot. Thanks for the comment

I HAVE A 2003 BRP AND WOULD NEVER SELL UIT.. ITS A CLASSIC AND IS STILL THE MOST RELIABLE BIG BORE EVER MADE. GOD BLESS HONDA.

This looks like Stoddard Valley. It's definitely in the Mojave.

110. I put a 45 tooth sprocket on it with a 13 in the front. It hauled but was heavy. But the bike is strong and very good.

i added the music because you couldn't really hear the engine. It was windy that day and as you can see, the video of it was pretty crappy.
And so true, that was the best bike Honda made for the 650. The new ones are nothing compaired to them. Thanks for the comments.
