This movie is so cool. It has a great cyberpunk/dystopia feel. So many of the best cyberpunk novels came out about this time too. Neuromancer, Voice of the Whirlwind, Count Zero, Hardwired, Snow Crash, and The Difference Engine are fantastic books. Oh yeah, this song always gets stuck in my head as well.

This is a great song. It goes so well with the TechNoir scene, especially when Sarah accidentally knocks the bottle off her table. She bends down to pick it up, just as the Terminator walks by; the fate of humanity is saved by a simple mistake. The slow-motion of everyone in the club dancing with this music is just awesome.
@JosiahPlummer1988 If Sarah hadn't knocked the bottle off, the Terminator would've seen her sooner, but I think Reese still would've stopped it by shooting it down with his shotgun before it could kill her, just like what happens a minute later. All the knocking of the bottle did was delay what ends up happening later.
You have to admit, that turning the Terminator the "protector" in T2, was a brilliant idea!
The Terminator is one of the most intimidating and ruthless villians ever, having IT become a good guy suprised everyone! Plus it allowed them to put the T-800 against the T-1000 and create some very amazing fights!
Also, it showed the ultimate weakness of the Machines, they can be reprogrammed!
The only thing i wanna know and i know i'mma get flamed and yes it was a lucky chance they were at a iron shmelting plant or w/e but if kyle reese and sarah conner could kill a reg t'101' or as we know now a t 800 or 850 how the hell did a terminator beat a damn t 1000 .... i mean a HUMAN can kill a t 800. wtf

well T3 wasn't as good as the first 2, but that's cause they were both some of the greatest films ever made. They're hard acts to follow, and T3 didn't match up, but it's still miles and miles better than most of the crap that gets released every year.
terminator 3 was good for what its worth dont dismiss it. However keep in mind James Cameron had nothing to do with T3 or T4 for that matter. It always sucks when people leave movie in other peoples hands

T2 is way more family friendly. I saw both when I saw 8 and I wasn't anywhere near as frightened by Terminator 2 as I was by The Terminator. They're very different films with different objectives and motivations for their stories. The first terminator has an "us against them" mentality that is sort of corrupted in the second movie by Arnold being the hero. There is also a brutal irony to a lot of the dialougue and shots in the the first one that suggest that humanity is on the way out.
the original movie has elements of horror in it.. along with carefully planned segments of humor, and of course a shit ton of action sequences with suspense! it is a sci-fi movie at heart, but with all these other elements it is no secret why it is one of the best movies of all time... T2 simply could not capture the same kind of feel, which is why the first one is my favorite!
in 1984 everything felt like "we were on our way out" - AIDS, Reagan bringing us to the brink with the Russians, economic recession, drug wars, corrupt govt, etc. it's in alot of the culture of the times. Add a little fear of computers and automation taking jobs from men and women and you get a little idea why this movie was such a hit. Plus action, suspense, sex...
Is today any different? Climate change, global epidemic diseases, Russia, Iran, North Korea, economic recession, famine, more drug wars, more corruption, etc... Even more computers and automation today than in 1984. The machines rule this world, whether we like it or not. We must play their game.
yeah i gotta agree,T2 really annoys me. the kid was an ass wipe geek. he turned arnie into a pussy who couldn't kill anybody and had to speak like an asshole. plus the cinematography in T1 kicked ass. tech noir scene was class.
