Yes they can, but obviously their chances of having a heart attack are greatly decreased if they don't smoke or drink excessively and also because people at that age are still young. People who have never drank or smoked then a heart attack is usually caused by old age, but also heart attacks can also be caused by a lack of exercise or the complete opposite too much exercise and too much junk food can also increase the chances of a heart attack regardless of age.

I need an honest answer, I was smoking weed two months ago (havent since) and my heart beat was at 170-180. My arms went numb and part of my legs also, I understand I caused my heart to beat faster by worrying, but what could have caused this? I have smoked in small amounts since and it happens a little bit, maybe I'm psychologically scarred, who knows?

It's a panic attack you're having. nothing is wrong with your heart - I had my first few panic attacks when smoking and I didn't know what they are.

It's the fight or flight response - internally you sense something wrong and your brain triggers a release of adrenaline and epinephrine - just like if you were running from a sabretooth tiger.

It doesn't happen to everyone but weed is a WELL KNOWN trigger for panic attacks and anxiety.

i have gone through the same thing with panic attcks and weed. there are many ways of dealing with it... i did mine naturaly but medicine cures it instantly, things like xanex or clonazepam... meditation works... it is realy just controling your mind... realize its all in your head. take deep breaths... dont drink caffine or eat alot of sugar... eating healthy is a huge part of it

it is a panic attack - sometimes when your heart is racing like that, and you have those adrenaline chemicals streaming from anxiety, you can get palpitations, skipping beats. these can be bad, though rarely! this happened to me the last time I smoked - I had the phone ready to dial 911 bc I was sure my heart was going to stop. just DON'T SMOKE. there are alternatives to relaxing.

It dosent nessasarily have to beat fast, but it will have random effects, such as 1 minute it will go really fast, then one minute it will go very slow... it will be random how the heart beats as there is insufficient blood to pump around to all the organs.
