The princess and the frog was actually a good movie. I dont care about race when it comes to watching a disney film because it gets in the way of the films magic.
I appreciate your review. Thanks. After my daughter of 3years saw the movie, she tells me she is Princess Tiana. My baby is not black, but that doesnt seem to affect her imagination.
Can i ask you a question is it not a good thing to show young girls its amazing to work hard for what you want in life. That we as people cant just wish for somthing to come true me myself im a biracial person being half african american enjoyed this movie.I believe we need to lighten up on this movie. This is a movie for childern for a african american girl or boy to see a african american princess is amazing in itself i never got to see one in cartoons have you.
This woman is so stupid it amazes me. People that think like this piss me the hell off.
Why do these people read into ever damn thing?! Stop thinking everyone is racist!!! Just enjoy the fucking movie.
If you think there should be an all black romance fantasy disney movie then YOU are the racist ones. For crying out loud. nothing is ever good enough for these people
You're the stupi ignorant person for being naive about the world we live in. YOu need an education about statistics, the power repetitive messages and the media.
You are a fool that is too invested and proud of your stupidity to LEARN. You are the reason why the world remains racist!
I work towards ending racism and just because I talk about race doesn't mean I'm the racist.
That foolish shallow-thinking elementary OLD-ASS point of view of yours keeps the White Supremacy alive!
@MoviemanDoug I don't think the movie was racist, but I do think it was a really heavy movie for something that was supposed to be lightweight, love fantasy for kids.... and I seriously don't understand why the princess and the frog was about... a freakin frog! No offense, but how do u expect black ppl to actually like the movie if the first black princess in disney is not a princess at all..
@eckosama the same could be said the other way around. In every disney animated film there's a character that must overcome great odds to reach their ultimate dream. Snow White, Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty all are women that are victims of some event or plot. White women aren't given the best situations in disney movies.....so did the black population expect disney to make it different just so people would think they weren't racist? lol. disney just told another story
@MoviemanDoug its not that there wasn't hardship. It was that she never was a real princess, which I thought should be what the story was about. A black princess.
You have to blame the black fools right along with racist over at Disney, and then you had black radio pushing the shit out of this movie like it's the second coming of Jesus.Black people need to tell black stories because these white folks get it wrong every damn time.
I can name a few other movies where the girl is stronger than the man. Anastasia, Pocahauntus, Hunchback of notredame. Plus, Tiana was a very hard worker just cause she wanted something and wasn't gonna wait on someone to give it to her. I can relate to that. Plus Naveen was lazy and had NEVER worked. Had he been running the place it woulda caught fire or something.
We DO need a black prince though, I agree completely. :)
the lexicon of the people... Metaphysically, you cannot directly intrude on the males psyche because he's automatically tuned to defense mode, therefore, you must subvert the receptive woman and use her to break him internally. From this review, this movie appears to be an ALL OUT ATTACK on the fundamental principles of masculinity. Take notice at how in all tv shows and commercials that HE plays the senseless buffoon and she plays the well educated person that brings about stability....
Hmmm.. Why have I never heard of PearlJr before? Wait.. let me hit subscribe... Ok... I refuse to pay to see this movie, I'll wait for it to come on TV. Yes, it anyone understood anything about history, they would see the BIG difference between women's suffrage and the Feminist Movement... NOT THE SAME THING! A direct campaign against the black male was set in place through out the sixties to render him irrelevant and it is quite clear from this review this is the madness they're seeding into
Either you are stubborn, blind or dumb. You need more education and information before an intellectual conversation can take place.
You are way behind in your knowledge of psychological, repetitive images, messages in the media.
HINT: Rap Crap (music) changed the way most Blacks talked, walked, clothing trends, incarceration went way up. 2 parent households went down, signaling repetitive seductive images influence wide spread behaviors.
Ma'am, having a different opinion does not make me "stubborn, blind, or dumb." If you feel that The Princess and the Frog, or media for that matter, is controling and ruining blacks, then that's fine. But, I feel that, believe it or not, some people have more sense than that.
THANK YOU PEARL, JR.!!! The black audience needs to wake up, and start reading between the lines. All forms of media will always be used to influence public opinion. If Disney did a Jewish princess story, all HELL would break loose if she were marrying a non-Jew or if it did not properly appeal to Jews. We need to hold them accountable.
I normally don't comment on things, but here goes:
Of course someone as traditional-minded as you don't like this movie very much because it brings a modern message. Women can be independant and love is color-blind. I don't know about you, but I give it an A. I'm black and I'm glad that the first black Disney princess is very strong. BTW, the prince isn't white. And if he is, who cares, it's not like this isn't Disney's first interracial couple.
Does all this so-called "modern message" stuff work for the good of the Black community?
HELL NO!
We are moving backwards, so when things are not progressing, then back to basics
Interrracial relationship are snatching millions out of the Black community, & this independent woman thing is overplayed. Our men are disappearing out of our homes because they don't know what to do. They are supposed to be wearing the pants, but instead BW are and men feel unless and flee
If you have time, check out my movie reviews from all of 2009 and you'll see that this "it's just a movie thing" really shows out complete ignorance an gulliibility!
Ok, this is my last comment, because this is giving me a headache.
I think you're being a tad paranoid. Disney did not make The Princess and the Frog to ruin the black community. It was made to entertain children and adults of all color. What's "ignorance" is determing the faith of people from a kid's movie.
I'm making you think and that gives you a headache--must not be thinking too much!
The powers that be love people like you, who put their head in the sand and ignore the obvious.
I've been reviewing movies for 3 years now and it's always the same mind-tricks.
Disney, Warner Bros, 20th century doesn't matter. Look at us, are we getting better or worse and if worst, then why--it's the media sending messages to millions over & over to create harmful thinking that leads to bad behaviors.
Black people need to stop waiting on racist white hollywood to put us in something. We can't just do it ourselves because.
"Oh I'm glad THEY finally put US in one of THEIR movies"???????????????
Also has anyone noticed how more and more media is putting black actresses with white actors. "The Cleveland Show" "princess and the Frog" The latest Star Trek movie, "Avatar" "Something New"etc.
The princess and the frog was actually a good movie. I dont care about race when it comes to watching a disney film because it gets in the way of the films magic.

I hope you are not saying it's impossible to have a Black Prince. There are Princes all over African.
Remember the movie "Coming to America"? Quite a success!!!
Pearljr 2 years ago
@Pearljr or prince among slaves, the documentary. Have u seen it? I haven't yet.
eckosama 1 year ago
The reason the prince wasn't African American in this film was because it wouldn't have made sense within the context of the story.
But I hope disney does a black prince one day!
