  • This is a good warning song about "the drink"

  • Heard them live as a part of the on campus free concerts at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI in the mid-1960s! One of the best concerts I ever atteneded.

  • Their version of this is fun as hell to play and sing; we used to play it a lot at Austin, TX coffeehouses back in the '60s. Rockin' guitar work. Also, though Ian has one of the alltime great voices, I loved the way they put Sylvia's right up there with his in a sort of duo lead, instead of lead and backup. How many musical duos are there where BOTH singers sing lead and write songs? Just about none nowadays.

  • Oh ... when just a young lad, Sylvia inebriated me just like the whiskey of which they sing - I truly loved this lass, and the music they make as well.

  • sad

  • So beautiful! I have to listen to it again.

  • @Finistereny

    you are very welcome!

  • Golly, thanks for posting this! What wonderful memories of this music hearing this piece conjures up.

I always loved their musicianship and hearing their recordings now 50 years later confirms in me that real art doesn't age.

  • @rvcrvc2

their early music is fabulous. glad you enjoy the post!

  • Thanks for the post. I & S at their very best, pre-Great Speckled Bird. I loved the first 3-4 Vanguard albums.
