I think this is very good! I think Clapton managed to get that intensity and frustration that the original recording by Johnson had. Of course Johnson managed to do so with just him and an acoustic, but watch the other video with Bramhall and Clapton doing it the acoustic way. I certainly think it's a good cover!
The arcane Devil, what the F@#k.Clapton has been through alot of crap in his life.He lost a son for God's sake(Tears in Heaven). He did not mail this one in, I felt the Hell Hound on my trail bro!!!!!!!!!!!
@thearcanedevil That's such a subjective opinion and completely unfounded, I think what he has done for the blues is a significant piece of work. I think him living most of his young life in poverty, never knowing his father and being lied to for some years about his true parents he has the right to call himself a blues musician. Not mentioning his son's death. Yes, he has gotten famous, but he popularized and propagaded Chicago blues scene throughout his career. Credit is where it's due.
This is horrendous! What a slap at the original Robert Johnson. For Clapton to think that he even has a 1/100th of the soul to pull this off is a sad, very sad. Eric, your carreer was just trying to copy others; wish you had come up with something original.
@budgely You're the slap to his efforts to popularize those old school blues artists to the younger audience. You have no idea how many people have turned to those old forgotten legends because of him. He isn't trying to outplay anyone, he is paying tribute to his idol the best way he can. Watch the whole Sessions For Robert Johnson.
@fc7alibi It's from the "Sessions for Robert J "...and I don't think he's trying to "outplay" him, I think its a tribute to Johnson for all of his wonderful music

Yes clapton is god but go find Kelly Joe Phelps version of this - much better not clamouring to be commercial.

I agree. There's no pain in this, no truth. No blues.
