Exactly what I needed to hear exactly when I needed to hear it. One of my "flaws" is a need to always be right. I rarely think what I say might affect others. Being right also tends to make me pessimistic and misanthropic. I read a guide for spiritual agnostics which suggested something called "G.I.F.T.S."- "Grant Intellectual Freedom To Speculate"- to yourself and others. It seems to me that the differences between the major religions are mostly in the areas of speculation- whether there's a God or Gods and what there nature is, what happens after Death, etc.. The ethics tend to be similar- "do unto others...". Once we recognize that individuals have freedom to speculate about the Unknown, we're halfway home.
The Buddha died neither affirming or denying the existence of God.. but his followers developed Buddhism as an atheistic religion...... the way I see it.. the Buddha was only half right.......and half right is not right enough. I still think Jesus, who rose from the dead and paid the penalty for our sin/karma, and offers the gift of eternal life/salvation/enlightenment... to ANYONE who will believe/trust in and rely upon is the most amazing offer.

1. My view: Any skillful buddhist understands that building temple is not the important priority in buddhism. It is just a place where people meet. The buddha can teach buddhism anywhere, even in a forrest.

Suppose a person has been hit by an poison arrow, and the man is in pain and dying. but he won't allow others to pull out the arrow and treat him,until he is told the details of the person who soot the arrow, the kind of material that the arrow was made and so on. without thinking what is to be done immediatly. It is unlikly that you will get an answer to your question.
1) There is no god in Buddhism but we have devas and boddhisatva. We are not suppose to rely on them for help as we have to work to get the reward, like we have to work for our money. They are normally guarded by devas (divine beings) we can get help if we really need to. It is mainly a place to learn the teaching of the Buddha, to chant for protection, to consult the monks for any problems or questions and a place for us to meditate, to contemplate and share our wholesome thoughts
2) We are responsible for our own karma. If I do bad so don't expect anything good to come to me. If I slap others, I will probably be slapped by the person in return. So karma ripen right away but some ripen later
We can't decide if we want to be born. That is depend on how much good karma we have accumulated in the past. It's just like you can't decide which house you want to buy unless you have save enough money. In the same manner, my Muslims and Christian friends say that they just have to pray and God give them everything. I can't deny that sometimes prayers come true, just like Buddhists, our good wishes come true as well. But if I have no money, I have to work for it, God won't give me!
Considering Buddha Siddhartha talked to a god, Buddhism doesn't say there is no god it says that when the Buddha talked to god, god told him that he was also born of existence - he did not create it. He is great when humans in comparison look at god, and say "I am this, but he is that!". You are one with god, your hand doesn't worship your brain - it automatically does as the will of the brain. We are all hands of the source. God is also a hand, maybe the arm.
There are different degrees of adhering to some of the rules. I believe Buddha described them as guidelines instead of commandments. Some Buddhists drink, but in moderation. It depends on the person, the sect, and the level of adherence, I suppose.
There is a Chinese saying that goes "jio ro chuan tsang guo, fou tzu xing zhong liuo" which means "meat and alcohal pass through the body, Buddha stays in the heart. I can only speak from experience and In China, which is prodominantly Pure Land Buddhist, it seems that it is mostly the monks who refrain from these.
So often i'll see people and events around that their way is not the way and all i can do is knowing in my mind they still do not understand. But on the real, they do not understand the wisdom because of their fundamental controlled beliefs..
I've been living the buddhist way since I was young without even realizing it is buddhism until recent understanding.

1. My view: Any skillful buddhist understands that building temple is not the important priority in buddhism. It is just a place where people meet. The buddha can teach buddhism anywhere, even in a forrest.

Suppose a person has been hit by an poison arrow, and the man is in pain and dying. but he won't allow others to pull out the arrow and treat him,until he is told the details of the person who soot the arrow, the kind of material that the arrow was made and so on. without thinking what is to be done immediatly. 1) There is no god in Buddhism but we have devas and boddhisatva. We are not suppose to rely on them for help as we have to work to get the reward, like we have to work for our money. They are normally guarded by devas (divine beings) we can get help if we really need to. It is mainly a place to learn the teaching of the Buddha, to chant for protection, to consult the monks for any problems or questions and a place for us to meditate, to contemplate and share our wholesome thoughts

We can't decide if we want to be born. That is depend on how much good karma we have accumulated in the past. It's just like you can't decide which house you want to buy unless you have save enough money. In the same manner, my Muslims and Christian friends say that they just have to pray and God give them everything. I can't deny that sometimes prayers come true, just like Buddhists, our good wishes come true as well. But if I have no money, I have to work for it, God won't give me!

Considering Buddha Siddhartha talked to a god, Buddhism doesn't say there is no god it says that when the Buddha talked to god, god told him that he was also born of existence - he did not create it. He is great when humans in comparison look at god, and say "I am this, but he is that!". You are one with god, your hand doesn't worship your brain - it automatically does as the will of the brain. We are all hands of the source. God is also a hand, maybe the arm.

There are different degrees of adhering to some of the rules. I believe Buddha described them as guidelines instead of commandments. Some Buddhists drink, but in moderation. It depends on the person, the sect, and the level of adherence, I suppose.

There is a Chinese saying that goes "jio ro chuan tsang guo, fou tzu xing zhong liuo" which means "meat and alcohal pass through the body, Buddha stays in the heart. I can only speak from experience and In China, which is prodominantly Pure Land Buddhist, it seems that it is mostly the monks who refrain from these.

The have total peace with myself and the only problem i have is that other people do not understand what i understood and the way i live. Therefore, they will thought i'm weird and it is hard because they dont give their peace even if i give mine.
