The old car cues ARE classics, and need to be brought back in a BIG WAY, they are priceless and cannot be retired whatsoever, Stan Blkitz is a knucklehead for retiring the old car cues, they can remaster the old car cues in stereo.
I have wasted many enjoyable hours loving all the great memorable funk / jazz / pop tunes that Edd Kalehoff created for TPIR. You can download them at gameshowthemesongs dot n e t, followed by a slash then tpir_library.htm - GREAT STUFF.
I loved this theme. The best when it was used was from the 70's playing "Lucky 7 on this board right here" and the music would still be playing and the big doors were opening. Great stuff!
Apparently, Stan Blitz said that so many of the old cues were retired because they weren't in stereo, only mono, which is a really dumb reason IMO. They can always remaster it! But I guess not :(. But yeah, the last time this cue was used was in Season 36 (Drew's first season).
@GSNSmashFan3 Why would anyone care if they were in mono - it appears most of them were since the L-R mix is identical. So what - they are great songs and were played mono for 35 years, 99% of the audience wouldnt notice and doesnt care. Most people havent heard all of them thru for the great songs they are.
Wow! Well, the show WAS by Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions! I read that some TPIR cues were also recycled for other game shows, and I'm assuming those are MG-BT Productions too.
@GSNSmashFan3 Originally, it was from Barry & Enright Productions, but only when it moved from NY to LA in 1973 when the Narz version premiered did it become part of Goodson-Todman.
@GSNSmashFan3 I have heard that the world famous"Family Feud" theme that got sent to that show was actually a car cue from TPIR 1st.... Correct me if I'm wrong.... But that is what i have heard
@bambam2124 Yes thats correct. Actually since both were Goodson Todman shows, they simply used a song they already had he rights to. You'll notice a lot of sharing between CBS / G-T shows. For example, Alex Trebek's Double Dare 1976 used the same theme song as Card Sharks. The CBS shows used a lot of the same sounds effects - i.e. the bell on Match Game, TPIR, Double Dare, etc.
Bob Barker: "Whadda we have for him, Johnny?"

I hear this and I think of the late Rod Roddy saying,"A NEW CAR!!!"

Every time I heard this cue: I'd wait for Bob to say: "Here Come My Beuties With The Dice For The DICE GAME"

@bambam2124 I always think of Card Game in the mid-80s

Goodson & Todman never owned Concentration. They were under contract to syndicator Jim Victory to produce it.

Why don't they play this car cue anymore? Maybe I'm out of the blue because I can't really watch it regularly, lol...

@GSNSmashFan3
Well it does seem archaic, but I do agree; being unable to stereo-ize it wasn't a really good excuse :P

I associate this theme with the Jack Narz version of Concentration when a car was won on the Double Play round.

@tvtimetravel
Yeah, Narz Concentration also recycled the Consolation Prize cue as well. All roads lead to TPIR I guess! LOL
GSNSmashFan3 11 months ago
@GSNSmashFan3 On the only full Concetration video on Youtube so far, they also had the Splendido and Starcrossed cues.
