  • because of the horizontal hive and a calm way of moving around them.

  • why doesnt it sting :0

  • our bees actually do better in straw than in wooden boxes.

  • good looking girls. Hope you wont get mites inside the straws. it'll be harder to clear up than plain wood boxes.

  • bee nests with natural comb can be moved without problems - one just has to know what NOT to do. No bee is getting killed , actually it's the other way around: Natural comb allows bees to thrive and be healthy; By the way: Commercial Demeter beekeepers in Germany are using this design .... .

  • Because wax in this case is so thin, you can't move the hive without breaking it or at least combs will kill bees in between, also its harder to harvest, while a normal hive can be easier to make more organized natural comb, and easier to check or treat when necessary. - if your son got sick you cannot just say let him be cured naturally ;)

but at least it's good looking for gardens if you dont put harvesting in mind.

    thx for sharing

  • i mix of European Honey bees

  • what species of bees is this ?

  • where is this garden? i love this video and this beautiful bee hive. i sure wish i knew how to have one like it and knew how to care for it. beautiful.

  • Beautiful and sacred....

  • bees are much calmer in straw hives, and the inner climate is great. Cow dung has comforting and sustaining properties for the bees - also, it is a wonderful and light plaster! health depends on many issues - one is bee centered hives ...

Thank you for your interest. Michael

  • Have you found that this way of keeping them reduces problems such as mites and diseases? Why cow dung instead of mud or clay... are there some advantages to it over mud/straw? Very nice hives, I love this design, it seems to allow more air flow. Would love to hear more about it.

  • Fantastic bee hive! Bees are great.

  • Wow that is great Just great.

  • such gentle bees,I see the video was posted last year did they ever fill up the twenty bars?also about the cow dung,I have seen a lot of videos about straw bale houses and how they are built, using a clay based mortar with shredded straw would have made a good coating too for the outside of the box though I do like your design, it is to say it is a very nice set up.they honey that dripped when you pulled the comb apart looked really clear i bet it was great!!!

  • Oh yeah I'm going to go coat my hive with a protective layer of cow dung... does anyone else think that is a bad idea?

  • Great footage! They took there time with this. I wish there were 20 more min.

  • Im all about natural beeking. This is another example of how to keep bees in a way that is more or less more natural than the Lang box. Its very similar to a top bar in concept. very neat.

  • So you're not putting any foundation in the frames? Just letting the bees do their own thing? did you have anything to start them off?

  • @liber8me it looked to me the wax roll on top she was rolling back they could have drawn some of the wax off of that
