this WOULD'VE been the beginning of the BIGGEST girl group reunions of ALL TIME.. well actually the BET Awards was, but En Vogue was ALL OVER the place when Dawn returned on a permanent basis... of course things didn't work out but i sure wished it did... the MAGIC and CHEMISTRY of the original 4 is shown right HERE...
Well I just found out what happened...it's Dawn again...she was always the one causing trouble. I think everyone in the group was genuine except for her, in truly wanting to reunite and she was doing it for publicity. She is suppose to be starting a new show. Does she even realize that everything she has done outside of En Vogue failed? The so called "family" she spoke of in this very video, she back stabs again? One more for the road huh? Dawn please go back "home" to your "family"
I don;t like the lady that was talking with the goddesses. stupid bitch didn;t know who the fuck was who. hope they got her ass right together after the show.
@fe920128 There was a Divamentary but no channel cable company wanted to buy it. I thought the show was going to show them shopping and stuff like that but I think it was more like a Documentary about how they began and why Dawn left.
@Aspidiske78 I know what you mean. Me too! I think if Maxine's singing the melody (the 1st) an octave lower than Cindy (the 8th) then Terry's singing the 3rd and Dawn the 5th-assuming that's the chord structure. I always thought Terry sang the 5th but going by this per4mance and where Dawn comes in I don't think it's the case.
Thanks for finding out...it was hard for me because Terry was the only one in the harmony I couldn't hear clearly. I'm always trying to sing along with them safely behind my computer pretending I was doing Terry's part, LOL! Thanks!
@Aspidiske78 Haha! Me too. I always listen out for Terry. She's my favourite, then Cindy. I'm only guessing the arrangement by the way, best to get a second opinion just in case ;-)
Wow! It's been 20 years..........they look, sound, and feel great. Their energy still feels fresh! They didn't have to change the key of the song or anything. Yeah, it's about preservation because you are still a human after your career is gone. There is no artist development anymore. Does record companies have A&R departments anymore? Only the best for En Vogue!!!!!!!!!!
thank u for showing this!!!! they are so amazing!!!!... Any other girl-group can never take their place!!!!... The only irl group that ALL 4 MEMBERS can Lead!!!!... And good looking girls too!!!!... Hope their 20th anniversary concert will be released on dvd!!!!... with lots of behind-the-scenes of then rehearsing vocally!!!! That would be so hot to watch!!!!
its too late they were the best thing since sliced bread and had they stayed together they would be legendary and rock steady consistant but they could have been doing what teena marie and charlie wilson are doing....just rockin steady maybe its not too late but they should have been around to school the rihannas, keri hilsons, michelle crissets and the likes
just to clarify, my last post was in response to someone saying that "there wasn't a girl group that could harmonize better than En Vogue". didn't want someone to think that it was in response to the comments about the upcoming single and cd.
Yep. That's why artists try to form their own labels. I don't know why record companies only give roughly 5 cents/dollar from the sale of an album and then, expect artists to pay for recording and video budgets off those pitiful royalty payouts.
what???!!!! my all time favourite gurl group of the 90's!!!! and they look so mighty fineeeeee!!!! dangggggg gotta get in shape cus i want 2 look that good when i'm about the big 4.0 in a few months....!!!!! WOW!!! bless!
I don't know but Dawn said in her husbands video that En Vogue was not making much money 20 years ago..but Foster & McElroy were so I doubt they will work with them but they could. Maybe they'll also have a song by Dawn's husband because he is one of their 3 management teams.
We used to refer to En Vogue as "famous poor people" along with acts like Lo Key? and Mint Condition. Foster & McElroy being the songwriters/producers, would make the lions share of royalties outside of the Atlantic. I think that's why Dawn left during EV3 recording was over money issues.
@Impulsensx To hell with Dawn..she is the reason they broke up in the first place..they had so much potential to be the number one and only female group out..there was no other group like them and everybody had a favorite..they were so popular and talented but then Dawn's head got to big for the group..
The blend isn't the same as it used to be, but for 20 years apart they still sound amazing! I bet it only took them 1 month to get their exact sound back...I can't wait to here the new album; I so missed them.!!
I'm wondering if they used some other singers in the background vocals when they recorded this song because they seem to usually lip sync the never gonna get it parts so it sounds nothing like the original here. Only Dawn and Max parts sound the same.
En Vogue use some other singers?!!?...never that. the sound is different simply because one is used to hearing the "polished, finished" sound from the 4 of the them singing it perfectly in the studio(the vocals might have also been layered for added effect). this was live, TOTALLY unaccompanied so it was just different. it's similar to how the studio background vocals to "Lies" sounds versus the live performance. it's all good...just not studio perfect.
Maybe they had someone sing the backgrounds on the original track or maybe they didn't use all four for the background vocals on this song. When they have been singing this song in their recent concerts, they seem to use the original background vocals and cleavage
This show doesn't have a studio audience. It was just the employee's who work there so there was only like 20 employee's ( I saw the photo of them at the KTLA web site so it looked like it was 15 to 20 people).
ok stop with the damn DC vs. EV vd. TLC and all that bs who cares about them it's about En Vogue that what this video is about them reuniting why evne bring up Destiny's Child, EN & Dc aren't even in the same league
Eat your heart out you female groups of today, cause when you stepped on the stage in the 80's and early 90's you had to blow!!! Also, groups sung live, without the voice help.
I don't know. I did read in one of the EN VOGUE PHOTO SHOOT--SOUL FLOWER video's here at You Tube that they wanted to sell the show to BET but they didn't want it or something like that.
User teemack uploaded those videos and he knows what the show was suppose to be about because he has the inside information.
Maybe they won't air the show because Cindy didn't mention anything about the show when
In agreeance with you broke2471. Kids today don't know music. Just like my parents use to say, "Our music from the 80's and 90's was garbage" to my parents and their claim was their music was better than mine. Indeed, the Temptation's and Patti Labelle days were even better than ours. That's where all the sampling in 2days music come from, my parents days.
These lil young Beyonce Hounds think that everything is Beyonce this and Beyonce that , and don't realize that Every female group comes "after" another..
En Vogue are the original Funky Diva's, known for they're tight Harmony and not tight clothes. They are known for being classy and Singing about something other than bull crap. So Young Beekie fans, pick up an En vogue CD or two or three and listen to some real music.
En Vogue was not the only damn artists nor the main artists that influenced Destiny's Child.
Besides I'm a fan of both, I just hate when ppl say just because you were first everybody else after you would never been there if it wasnt for you. Anyways glad to see them all back together. If only Dawn ass would stop thinking people checking for her solo album they would already have a reunion album.
Actually, Envogue was the only group Desiny's child were influenced by as Envogue was the last of the Girl Groups that ended in the mid 90's when DC came out. We can't say that DC was influenced by the Supremes or Martha Reed because DC were too young to appreciate that music. 4 part harmonies were the key to each group. Even the way they dressed played a factor.
TLC were still out when DC came out. When DC came out EV was basically over(commercially successful wise) cause Dawn had already left. Pluse Beyonce parents had her listening to old day music so she does appreciate that music. Anyways Destiny's Child biggest influences were not even a female group. It was Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. DC have stated that in many interviews.
Destiny's child started when they were 9 years old. TLC wasn't out then as they, themselves were in high school and hadn't started their group. It's apparent that Beyonce's mom had her listening to older music for entertainment and influence purposes but we're talking about EV. Envogue STILL holds the record formost albums sold by female group. Not even DC has topped that. Beyonce topped that as a female R&B singer- solo though. With that said... Envogue was the girl group that influenced them.
What do you mean run away and sulk. We done already talked on the situation and said what we had to say. LOL!!! It's over. I do have a life outside of YouTube dammit. LOL!!!. GOD BLESS YO CRAZY ASS. J/K
True but the original DC line-up (the quartet) were heirs apparent of the En Vogue throne...if they had stayed together. En Vogue inspired me so much and helped fuel my love of close harmony singing. I wanted to be in a similar group so badly. Terry was/is my fave EV vocalist. Her and Cindy were always the most gorgeous to me too but they all looked amazing. Legends.
I think I read user teemack say that their show would be similar to his EN VOGUE PHOTO SHOOT SOUL FLOWER videos. I think he knows En Vogue and or he knows Denzil Foster Thomas McElroy the creators of En Vogue.
Dunno...but it was so interesting in the early 90s, Rosanne Barr wanted to develop a series/show for En Vogue but it was stated that it was difficult to create a show that centered around all four of the ladies. oddly enough, shortly after that, "Living Single" hit the air and not to mention "Girlfriends" years later. these 2 shows were centered around the 4 female lead characters! i wonder if this go 'round it'll be a sitcom or a reality show. i wonder as i wander.... sing En Vogue!
Yeah lovejoydiva, they sure are best friends. They were on Lifestyles of the Rich and famous together too. Holly was featured and she had Terry on the show with her. I thought that was kool. I missed the Oprah show though.
ain't that THE TRUTH! all 4 of them look wonderful. they can still rock those lil' BLACK DRESSES from the "Hold On" video. i send both Cindy and Maxine Happy Mother's Day wishes!
That is so exciting. Thanks for telling me. I always set my VCR to record GDLA, Regis and Kelly, The View and Mike and Juliet. And the KTLA morning news too. I hope they sing a new song.
this WOULD'VE been the beginning of the BIGGEST girl group reunions of ALL TIME.. well actually the BET Awards was, but En Vogue was ALL OVER the place when Dawn returned on a permanent basis... of course things didn't work out but i sure wished it did... the MAGIC and CHEMISTRY of the original 4 is shown right HERE...

TLC, DC have both sold more albums then En Vogue. Anyways I'm done with this conversation now.

What? You don't appreciate a little debate. You have to give up, run away and sulk? Wow. Impressive.

thats true

True but the original DC line-up (the quartet) were heirs apparent of the En Vogue throne...if they had stayed together. En Vogue inspired me so much and helped fuel my love of close harmony singing. I wanted to be in a similar group so badly. Terry was/is my fave EV vocalist. Her and Cindy were always the most gorgeous to me too but they all looked amazing. Legends.

Sooooo what kind of TV show are they coming up with???
fe920128 2 years ago

They are good friends and everyone get them confused. I saw it on Oprah a long time ago. It was a show on bestfriends
lovejoydiva 2 years ago
Yeah lovejoydiva, they sure are best friends. They were on Lifestyles of the Rich and famous together too. Holly was featured and she had Terry on the show with her. I thought that was kool. I missed the Oprah show though.
