the itunes immediately unlinked my ipod from itunes,going back to the mainmenu with a popup box that says "The ipod 'ipod' could not be restored. an unknown error occurred (1)".so i unplugged the ipod from the computer.itried to turn on the ipod and i only see the usb pointing at the itunes symbol. i plug it back into itunes and the computer says that the ipod is in recovery mode and i have to restore. I cannot upgrade and get the ipod out of recovery mode and idon't want to restore. HELP!

did you connect your ipod to itunes and see something that said "ipod is in recovery mode"? If you did, then shift click recovery and go to ur 1.1.1 software and the rest is history. :D in a good way

this actually works, but i used the link that's not the wiki one. the 1.1.1 firmware in the instructions was for the iphone so if you look through the comments find the link by "downgrader" and that works.
