How to Convert .VOB files to .avi or any other format easily in windows vista & xp

Did you notice the file size change? That is because it didn't change or convert the file. All it did was change the file extension. When the mpeg(VOB) file is renamed to avi, it opens in the video player and the player recognized it as a vob even though it was renamed as an avi file. For this reason the file still plays and for no other.

i can't believe how easy this is!!!!! i wasted the whole day downloading useless programs and deleting them when they didn't do what they promised. all i had to do is change the file extension type. this made the files work in sony vegas when nothing else would. now i can do my film project...THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

When I did this it works, it says "avi". But, when I try to upload the file to youtube , youtube says that the file is not compatable...(or somthing :D) Help me out?

(btw, when i try to put the avi file on camtasia and such it has the same problem) :(

This works for uploading to youtube, but not for editing. You can't open that file in a program like WMM.

yeah, you didnt change the file type, you just changed the type of file the computer recognizes the file as....
