South Sudan is mostly filled mostly with two main religions. They are Christianity and local beliefs. That's why they broke away from Sudan, because the Govt in Sudan (which is mostly Muslim ) would massacre the people of South Sudan as an attempt on making them convert to Islam.
@hatethegame82 u know nothin . south sudan people murdr muslim people of north. they do genocid n apartid n now steal country ! muslim wil prevail! we wil reconqr n non muslims will be drivin to sea !!!
@tysonlaa1 Because the people of South Sudan are not predominately Arabs, they are Sub-Saharan (Black). The South Sudanese use English because it was Sudan's primary language during the British colonial period, which made it the most widely spoken in the area, and because it helps them communicate with the rest of the world.
I'll say, too Bless South Sudan, BUT honestly.. this anthem sux and i'm here not here to flame, but it's the truth, it does.. your country should taken something traditional, not something in a language that the singers can't even speak right..
I am cameroonian, our national anthem is french and english. why so, well because we have about 200 different linguas and dialect. Imagine that..! So too is South Sudan, One people but diverse culture, language, gastronomy etc That´s why I´m proud of being African.
FYI English is the official language for our new born country, we will translate this anthem to our own languages later.Remeber the ocean starts with drop of water. Please don't be hasty.May God bless South Sudan.
This new anthem is quite horrible. But the thing that I really don't undertand is why they chose as official language english, while most of them don't speak it and they don't know it also as second language. It's a very bad effect of the globalization, I think. Just think that people won't understand their own anthem... it's very sad...
@simoneislanda What language would you suggest then? Globalization has its advantage and disadvantages, at least Southern Sudanese can catch up to the english easily than Arabic, wont you agree?. This is a new nation, you shouldnt expect everything to run perfect from the start. English is a good start I think because i dont see any other language fitting. maybe the Media can transulate the anthem in different tribal languages as time passes for those who do not understand it.
@andrzejnher4eva . yeah but we have our own language wat the point of singing it in english... y can't we just sing it in dinka.... like other conutry sing they national anthem in their own language:) n no 1 give a shit:((
@theanyieth so the dinka represents the whole of the south? :) what about the nuer? the miseriya? the arabs? south sudan is what the north could not be... don't repeat what they did to you on others. :) I wish you peace and happiness in your new country.
South Sudan has come from far to make this dream a reality....wish them all the best in the task ahead of them as they start to build their nation....
I wish you the people of South Sudan in the name of the still repressed people of Tamil Eelam all the best for your future. I am sure you will soon build a prosperous, free and just country for all community to live in. Your national anthem is brilliant. God bless South Sudan and its great people.
we stand up for saluting our Martyrs so please do not spam our National Anthem with spaming words just go and read Lyrics you will understand it very well
sounds good to me, I think it has now improved and encompassed some credit to the veterans which makes sense . I would still suggest some improvement to include the meaning of our core value, e.g. what we stand for, be it unity, justice, equal rights, opotunity .
@SonicobbsessedR2 Good for them. Hope they succeed and develop!
However, The song sucks. They can do better.

Why English?! Arabic is perfect.
English is taking over the world and we are losing our heritage!
Congrats!
