My stepfather bought me a Smitty Gatlin Trio album around 1969 and I have treasured it ever since. It is my favorite album and when I listen to it I have the memories of him and all the old-fashioned singings we used to attend on Saturday nights together. I have looked for other albums by this group but I haven't found any yet. I think they have the most beautiful blending of voices I have ever heard.
Our Pastor always says "It is no accident you are here today" and I feel it was no accident that I found this sound. My Uncle just died, a Vietnam Vet and this so beautifully sung song really helped in knowing that for Vets of that war, Jesus is giving him the rightful welcome home.
Smitty was a great singer. Went to college with him and my wife accompanied him numerous times while in college. I never knew what happened to him after graduation. He was on his way along with his lovely wife Nell to stardom. But God had other plans!
Wow. That is my Dad playing the piano. Thanks so much for posting this. Would love to see more. My Dad told me that the record company that released all of their records had a fire years ago, and they lost about everything, so these are very hard to come by!

Do you know what year this was taped? It couldn't have been too long before Smitty got sick.
