  • You had me at the terminator reference!

  • man I love this guy, one minute he will quote Aristotle and the next he is reenacting the terminator movie!

  • Get on your bike Cameron. Let Hannan do the job!

  • Greetings from Finland. You go, go go, Daniel. Not a penny more to failed statets!

  • Nazi? people are completely mad

  • any man who quotes dr zeus in a political speech is a winner in my eyes.

farage and hannan, two of britains greatest men.

  • yes he speaks very well ;articulate and entertaining but so did adolf hitler

  • @MrStewart149

Exactly what point are you trying to make?

That we shouldn't have articulate politicians? That Dan Hannan is a crypto-Nazi?

    What a fatuous remark.

  • @kzearo YES I AM ; HE IS A NAZI IN SHEEPS CLOTHING ARTICULATE OR OTHERWISE .

  • @MrStewart149 I have never found Adolf Hitler entertaining and I am surprised that you do Mr Stewart. I do not agree that Mr Hannan is a Nazi, and instead of distributing insulting unsubstantiated remarks you should try and engage in debate to expose supporters of intolerance and aggression, as well as those who are incompetent clinging on to unjustified positions of power as Mr Hannan frequently does. By spewing such banalities you descend to the same level of the people you are criticising.

  • @tayloralastair by the sounds of you it would be a waste of time plz stop contacting me thx

  • @MrStewart149 QED

  • @MrStewart149 And Adolf Hitler was a European nationalist, big-government socialist. The same type of people you seem to be supporting. We defeated the Nazis, with the great conservative party PM Churchill at the helm, many decades ago - you and your lot will NOT bring them back. You Nazi-supporters will never win.

  • @matrix4022 So i comment on hannan who i think is little better than a nazi and is at best a little englander and you accuse me of wanting the nazi's back ......... plzzz dont contact me again

  • @MrStewart149 You and your like are as close to Nazi ideology as any grouping today, and best of all you actually call OTHER people Nazis for not agreeing with you lol which ironically is an old Nazi propaganda tool (tell a lie often enough and people will believe it, as Hitler said). We won't surrender to totalitarianism. We defeated the Nazis before, and I'm damn sure we will defeat you pseudo-Nazis now.

  • @matrix4022 Small government nazis? That is impossible. Literally impossible.

  • @lankness1 huh? I said big government nazis - not small.

  • What a fantastic way to receive his result and such a beautiful usage of language, even before the Dr Suess quotation. Thanks for uploading this message, I will hopefully be playing this again in 24 hrs time when the general election results come in!

  • ROFL. Daniel Hannan wins every speech that has ever been made.

  • OBAMA READS DR. SEUSS:

    A sham. Sham I am.

I do so like green-movement scams.

I will tell you lies when your in a box,

I will tell lies to you on FOX.

I do so like greed, lies, and scams.

I do not like that sham, I am.

  • I don't trust the Tory Party.

We have to come out of the EU.

VOTE for the British National Party.

  • Erm why?

  • The EU is trying to make Europe all one country.

They want a new united states.

Don't you think it's an insult to the people who have fought to keep Britain a free country?

  • I agree. Plus, isn't the EU not popularly elected? It's assigned right?

  • Yeah but we didn't fight the Nazi's just so we could vote them back in again. One thing to be anti-EU, another thing to be in the BNP. Most conservative MP's hate Europe, including Hannan, so why bother with crazy eye Griffin.

  • I dont think the EU wants a new united states. I think that want they want is a new soviet union. I dont trust the tories either, they have got the wrong people in it.

  • Brilliant work Mr. Hannan. I don't know a tremendous amount about you but I do like what I see. Someone here in the US needs to read this to Obama.

  • Hannan for PM

  • I dont mind people expressing different opinions to my own but someone of your intelligence should really go play computer games or go masturbate.

The conservatives wil not remove the nhs you fool

  • Someone of my intelligence eh? Learn to spell and where to put capital letters, it would have made your comment more believable.

  • Make Hannan a cabinet minister!

  • @n9165466 Cabinet minister? Hell, make him PM!

  • @n9165466 Make him and Farage cabinet ministers

  • Make Hannan a cabinet member!

  • Dr Seuss, hilarious. Kind of ironic to see Hannan speak on a state-run broadcast though. As a libertarian American, I'm interested in pro-individual liberty proponents. I'll admit I know little about Hannan's views overall, but so far I like what the man says, and hope my fellows in Britain and around the world are listening.

The individual should be the ultimate sovereign. Listen up govts:

Guarantee our human rights to LIFE, LIBERTY, and PROPERTY!

Then kindly get out of our way.

  • Yes, but it promotes EU more than any private channel does.

  • How does it and when has it? I'd love to know.

  • This is good. International collaboration of liberty minded people. It is not simply the idea of being free, which is enough, but also the fact that free markets thrive and prosper without the claws of intervention. For too long have we watched as large monied interests use influence and lobbyists to obtain tax breaks and other favorable legislation. Preferential treatment has been given to the largest institutions, wiping out competition and thus reducing responsibility to consumers.

  • Mr. Hannan truly is an amazing man. Love is stuff and I thoroughly enjoy his interviews and speeches wherever he goes.

I would absolutely love to have him in America as a politician, however, I realize that the UK's need is greater than ours at the moment.

Good luck Hannan, and I give my luck to the UK as well. Both America and the UK are having a difficult time right now, so I hope the best for both.

  • This guy is an MEP, not an MP. Sure, he's a representative of the Conservative Party, but it isn't his job to speak in the House of Commons. His remit should extend as far as the European Parliament, whether he criticises it or not.

Granted, these elections are an opportunity to express our opinions against or for a government, but obviously not as major as people think, with regard to the turnout.

If Mr. Hannan wants to criticise, he should confine it to the European Parliament.

  • Hannan for Prime Minster, motherfuckers.

    Warm Regards from America.

  • These anti privatisation people forget that there was a waiting list to get a telephone before BT was privatised in the 1980's, is there a waiting list now? My mother died of cancer due to a large tumor that was not spotted in time even though she was being screened regularly due to previously having breast cancer. The problem in the UK is most people have not used health services overseas so have nothing to compare it to and assume the NHS is great, I have and can tell you it isn't.

  • I am not against state health care but what he says about the NHS is true, it needs a massive restructuring to remove the excessive numbers of non medical staff. Survival rates for serious illness, waiting times ect are worse than many other countries health care systems. A good friend of mine qualified as a dentist recently and promptly moved abroad, he now earns twice as much and see's half as many patients per day allowing him to give them a better standard of treatment.

  • The issue is not even how these programs are run. It is whether the costs are affordable. For instance, in the US we have accrued at least over $30 trillion in medicare/medicaid UNFUNDED liabilities. Many people like medicare/medcaid in the US, but they also do not know about the massive mounting costs. It is barely ever mentioned in the media even though it amounts to a cost of $100,000 per US citizen (that includes babies and children). Medicare is 50% govt healthcare, why dabble with 100%?

  • I hear alot of loud individuals complaining about capitalism, whilst at the same time enjoying its many fruits. Funny, that.

  • the guy is a great speaker. sadly he is also a fool. His attack on the NHS was a despicable bunch of lies and half truths. His conservative cronies ruined most of what made britain a great place to live and will no doubt sell off the NHS to the foul American insurance companies given another term in office.

I wish he would go to the US, he seems to think it better in every way to his own country.

  • and the best part is the english accent sells it! Imagine Sarah Palin saying the Dr. Seus line vs. Hannan

  • this guy has been doing a bit of interviews in the U.S. recently. talking about our troubles. It's amazing how he is in greater support of our U.S. constitution than many of our own politicians. I wish the U.S. just had a handful of guys like him currently serving. He is a true patriot to England. you guys should be proud to have him.

  • Hannan gives me hope for my country, after twelve years of destructive socialism from the Labour Party. Also, apparently he's in the process of writing a book about your Founding Fathers, so that's certainly something to look forward to!

  • lol, proud of him? No, I'm proud of our doctors and nurses, working their asses off as this little worm runs off to the US to talk down our health system!

  • get this guy into 10 Downing St...asap

  • This guy is incredible. You are blessed to have him, don't let him go to waste.

  • this guy should definetly be ur M.P. he used the terminator and doctor Seuss in one speech! my god this guy is god sent!!

  • God I love this guy. I hope you get him as your PM. We could use him here in the U.S.

  • agreed

  • unleash the beast Cameron!

  • Love it, jokes, worth a punt 50/1 next tory leader. political betting.

  • What do we have to do to get leaders of courage, substance and clever wit like this in the United States? It's sad that we have to look overseas to find conservative leadership standing up against all nonsense.

  • This man must run to be an MP, this is what the Conservative Party should be as.

  • hannan for pm

  • Comment removed

  • Hannan is awesome

  • This is a great follow up to his first act. Brilliant, Daniel!

  • could somebody please explain the crowd reaction...Hannan seemed to just carry on w/ his speech through the laughter and groans at points. Why didn't he wait for them to calm down and why did the crowd carry on through his words?

  • It wasn't really the time and place for a proper speech as there were folk from every political party in the room. Hannan made the short speech in the room which announced the election result for his area, so naturally there were lots of people who had just lost and probably didn't want to listen :p

  • Dont know, maybe there was labour mps in the room like giving him stick during the speech and he was just talking over them!? and the laughing was probably at what some of them were shouting out

  • Thats the British way!!

  • You should understand that in England its not necessary to be quiet while one of the other people are speaking. Speakers are regularly shouted down while at the podium, and the speaker always just goes on talking through it all.

  • I think they were Labour hecklers which explains everything...

  • knock them into history? what one election defeat, your memory seems abit short the country voted in our leader 3 times, over ur 3 public school bum boys hague, smith and howard

  • Thatcher won three elections and each time increased both the number of votes and the share of votes. Labour won three and decreased its share all this time. It hasn't done as badly since 1910 when it was a fringe party, so it being left in the history books is probably a good bet.

  • listen mate if it wasnt for the labour party and it was left up to you monkeys, the people wouldnt have their natiional health service or even their home

  • How do explain all the people who bought their council houses thanks to Conservative policy then?

  • it was another capitalist money maker, more proof of the fact the tories would privatise or make money out of the most basic of human needs i.e government housing, healthcare, banking

  • No, people should have the right to own their own house if they want to. Talk to any tennant who bought their council house and they'll support the measure.

And contrary to your sad, socialist belief for every £1 spent on the NHS under Old Labour £3 was spent (after inflation) by Thatcher's government.

  • The NHS should be privatised.

After all, no one should be forced to use their tax for others healthcare. That's forced charity.

  • thatcher destroyed jobs and wrecked communities, she persecuted the peole that dug home so she could heat her home thats the typical no gratitiude I owe nobody nothing attitude of the tories

  • How was persecuting the miners going to heat her home? Or is it that your English is so appaling I can't actually understand a word you're saying, and I'm damned if anyone else can.

  • no its the fact you cant read, she persecuted the miners, and they were the people who dug coal out of the ground so she could heat her home at night

  • You're also forgetting that coal was reducing in demand in the 1980s, who's to say the Great Lady didn't heat her home on gas or electric?

  • as if thats even the point you stupid man

  • Well the Miners didn't have to pick a fight with her did they?

  • the thing is with you, youve got your head so far up your arse that you simply cant see how in any way the tories are a good political party for anybody except the rich, they are good for you my friend simply because you spend all day looking down ur nose at peole who arent like yourself and the tories do aswell so you and them fit perfectly, why am I arguing with an ignorant toff anyway, go and hunt some foxes or something will you

  • Ah, the blatant classism of a Labour supporter with no argument. If you took your head out of your own arse first you'd notice that it was the Conservatives that oversaw 'the elevation of the people' in the 1800s and it was Conservative PM Chamberlain who abolished workhouses and laid the foundation for Attlee's Welfare State.

  • i need to pull my head out of my arse, youve just tried to tell me we are better off buying coal from russia that digging it out the ground in our own country,

  • Indeed, because after years of socialism Russian coal miners' wages are rising more slowly and are still lower now than those of British miners in the 1980s, therefore it is cheaper for them to dig the coal out and ship it here than it is to open up a British coal mine.

  • closing the workhouses had nothing to do with elevating the people, it is a basic human right that children shouldnt work in workhouses, its a common sense law that needed to be implimented at the time, closing the workhouses can hardly be called "laying the foundation for the welfare state"

  • Did you actually understand my post?

The 'elevation of the people' was done through the Reform Act under Derby and the Public Health Act 1875, the Factory Act, and the Employers and Workmen Act under Disraeli.

In the 1930s Chamberlain built on this, one of the measures was closing workhouses. This was not the sole measure of his acheivements, as you seemed to think. There was plenty more.

  • And Hague didn't go to public school either, he went to a comprehensive in Rotherham and won his scholarship to Oxford on entirely his own merits.

Smith was educated at a navy training school and never attended University.

Howard went to a grammar school and again made Cambridge purely on his own merits.

  • maybe thats why they lost ha ha

  • 6 stars

  • Someone (I don't remember who) used this poem for Nixon during Watergate.

Wow. Labour in fifth place! That's is so great. Now if you can just knock them down into fifth place in the House of Commons.

  • Or even better knock them into history.

  • amanda is a mean guy

  • love the terminator bit lol lol

  • DANIEL 4 PM

  • I wish there was a conservative in office in America that had half the balls Daniel has. Someone needs to tell Obama the same thing he is telling Brown!

  • you yanks do - he's called rick santelli

  • Ron Paul... figure it out

  • the reason conservatives in america cant say "we are now being run by a government of unelected aparatchicks" is because obamas was democratically elected by the country, and the conservatives were white washed, sorry mate

  • As usual you see only a part of the picture, dazza. Anytime a president makes an appointment, an unelected "czar" of whatever, he is immune to public opinion & given powers that really should go to someone who must answer to voters. Obama has expanded not only the size of our bloated federal system but its power and we have no power over those usually-unqualified people he is appointing. The appointees will just create more stuff to undo when the Dems leave office in a couple years.

  • Yes Zippy I agree, all the bureaucrats in all the phony agencies; EPA, FDA, Education Department, DMV, etc., are all unelected fools who are making their own laws and regulations that control our lives in America.

  • socalist labour = failure

  • now now thats not very nice is it....is that the sound of jealousy emanating from your underpants?

  • tiny underpants tiny....

  • Can we please have him?

  • Ha ha, leave it to Hannan to come up with a great speech. Once again, well done!

  • I think you're confusing him with members of the Labor (Socialist) party.

  • Im taking the browns to the superbowl

  • Another Conservative PM in the making. You are a star Dan, and a credit to my party.

  • Great Speech, Gordon Brown must go grrrrrrrr!!!

  • Hannan for US President.

  • hannan is da man...

  • Oh, how I wish he could be our US president!

  • The money ran out a long time ago. They were spending their kids' futures on themselves and Hannan was one of the few who would fearlessly crucify them for it in public. Not surprisingly, the same libtards who are cheering Obama's spending American's kids futures today think this is a bad thing. And these are the same peope that keep calling themselves 'the reality based community'?

  • SMACK! that's gonna leave a mark

  • I love seeing socialists getting their butts kicked!

I can't wait until US elections in 2010.

  • Please look at the Conservative website for detailed policies.

  • Im not Brown fan, but who's the socialist?

  • Hannan for PM!

  • The stenchippie sitting in the audience didn't like it one bit. What will become of his marxist utopian dreams now?

  • tell it like it is Hannan

  • Hannan for PM!

  • Socialists continue till they run out of other peoples money. I have in my lifetime never seen a socialists voted out. Once they seize power, they continue till the country collapses. Very sad. Congrats British National Party!

  • LargeHandgun:

The British National Party has socialist economic policies. Are you only in favor of their racial policies?

  • You mean British Socialist Party surely?

The BNP economic policy is more left wing than even Labour's.

For a party who love Enoch Powell, you sure don't like his free market capitalist ideas do you?

  • Powell was once described as 'an economic Whig, but a cultural Tory'. Not a good start.

  • The most uneducated? I guess that explains away the university educations etc.

  • I really like Daniel Hannan... He is very smart and savvy... I look forward to hearing about him in the future... possible prime minister? UK... finally someone who makes sense! Keep it up!

  • EAR EAR!

  • this country NEEDs a tory government urgent to rebalance all the cr4p labour has put it thru for years.labour = socialist sleaze

  • a tory government in a recession?, this is the party that put 1 million of out work u stupid ignorant fool, PIG

  • Those 1million people joined the 1million already out of work owing to Labour's failed socialist policies in the 1970s. Proof of your own ignorance perhaps?

  • what about the conservatives failed policies, only a bunch of foolish toffs would allow their leader to put their own personal needs over the countries the tories let thatcher, close down main stable resourcefull mines without thinking about how communities would find jobs to feed their families, neverless not thinking about the fact that britain would now have to go to the trouble of paying for and importing all its coal from other countries meaning we would have to be more dependant on europe

  • Personal needs? What personal need was Thatcher satisfying when closing the mines? The mines were a perpetual problem thanks to the politicized actions of the Marxist unions desperate to bring down the government. The taxpayer could not keep them open without forcing the miners into slave labour in order to compete with global demand from Russia and its neighbours and cronies, and no private enterprise was going to be able to sustain them. They had to close.

  • her personal needs the fact, that the miners knew she had to pay up or she would be fucked, she wanted to prove them wrong and crush them and the unions, thats ridiculous britain is a tiny island and we had over a hundred open coal mines, their was no need at all to close them and buy from russia, just another selfish egotitical move from thatcher, putting her own needs above the countries and the peoples

  • Pay up? I know you're illiterate but please make clear what you're actually talking about.

The unions needed crushing. They had taken far too much control, used undemocratic practices and were generally ruining Britain's productivity and its reputation abroad. They killed British industry.

And when Russia was taking our export market (because its coal was cheaper) it was meant mines were going to close. You would rather people had British coal than money in their pockets.

  • ha ha how can coal be cheaper buying it from another country when its already in the ground, retard

  • You really don't understand anything, do you?

  • hannan for pm...a man with the courage of his conviction

  • left foot, right foot, feet.. feet.. feet...Gordon Brown's feet should meet the street

  • Dude does it up and adds in a terminator zing as well. Uber

  • I doff my hat to you sir.

  • Daniel Hannan for US President in 2012!!!!

Hey Daniel, make a Dr. Suess rhyme for getting rid of Obama!!

  • Given in the House of Commons

    20 April 1653

    ......

"I command ye, therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. You have sat here too long for the good you do. In the name of God, go!"

--Oliver Cromwell dissolution of the Rump

  • So, I still have a reason to be proud of being English. Carry on Mr.Hannan, carry on...

  • NO CONFIDENCE on the Labour Government!

  • I hope that he does well! He's got a solid head on his shoulders.

  • Daniel, brilliant! I too wish you were American but I understand the need for you right where you are. Much luck to you and the people of the UK.

  • (APPLAUSE)

  • I love this Guy. I wish he was an American.

  • we already have him in the US and his name is Ron Paul. Same ideas with less colorful words and accent

  • Daniel is our John Connor and Gordon Brown is the Skynet who keeps sending "labornators" to crush the resistance...we know how the story ends...

  • WHERE IS JOHN CONNOR

  • Dan, once again, you absolutely rock.

I've sent you about 5 emails and i'm not at all annoyed that you haven't replied yet :)

There's a lot more Seuss for you to quote before you begin to impinge on Cromwell terrirtory.

Keep pounding the socialists. They'll lose next time, regardless of what you do, but your exquisite rhetoric has made a lot of people like myself feel much more confident.

    Thanks, Dan Hannan.

    Andy

  • When you are finished with Mr. Hannan in Europe, may we in America please borrow him for a while?

...I don't care how. Rent him to us now!

  • I love this guy. i wish he would come to the US and run.

  • The Europian Ron Paul......yippie........

  • Excellent! Hannan is great!
