The term reggae, in a proper sense, only covers the period in Jamaican music from 1969 to 1979 (or 1985 depending on opinion).
However in today's vernacular, the term has come to refer to all Jamaican music from the development of ska in the early 1960s up until today. Rather than create a more confusing List of Genres of Jamaican music but not Jamaican R&B or Mento article, it is pertinent to keep everything under the reggae name.....

We know instantly what happens anywhere in the world and we can travel to any part of the globe in a matter of hours. It is inevitable that we will be borderless in the near future so trying to create artificial borders is futile.

My school is full of white kids and a african joined the school and me and my friend sat with him at lunch and almost the whole cafeteria stared at us... There was also this kid that called the african a monkey. This isn't just a african thing us whites seem to find different races "different" or "funny". Racism and war are the biggest problems in our world.

Well said shiny. My mum and Dad were perfectly sound until I bought a black girlfriend home when I was 17. My MUM took me to one side and said "Andy, you do know she's black don't you?". I was fucking gobsmacked! When I told her I wasn't blind she told me it wouldn't be fair on the children!! I left home the next day.

I still listen to these songs fairly regularly after all these years. First time was a from my turntable then my old boom box, to my walkman, and now my iphone. Great art is timeless, these songs are still very relevant. I really hope some day these videos are embeddable.
