So, he got cold, so he covered himself with more blanket-ish stuff. Definitely a great survival tactic. Thank god I watched this totally worthwhile video. As for the ticks, what time of year were you out there? I take that back. I don't care. Is this surviving? Or is it camping? It looks like camping to me. Ah I take that one back to. Don't care about that either.
you guys must be soft in america, last time i camped out was in wales here in the uk it was 24 F (-4C) using an army bivi bag, a marmot hydrogen sleeping and the clothes i was wearing and it wasn't bad
sugestions, im no wizz on this tho here is my tought : fire reflector, hammock, wool sheet
i know those sleeping bag suck big time i have one :P with the tent i have gets even whorse :-/ also most of the cold comes from condensation of the air in the early hours (2-4 am ) also adding lots of leafs under your floor matt is good (nylon thingy ) but id never put it in the sleeping bag tho .
Being trained by the military I can appreciate his concern for ticks. However using a cover of leaves and a decent bed of leaves would have certainly made the night much more comfortable. Ticks can be treated but a cold night just sucks!
at around 0 dark 30 I would have made my way closer to that fire!!! You can also use 5/50 cord to make that poncho into another bag to use on the outside of all your sleep gear. Good vid Kev, I'll be waiting for your next. :)
...once the ruck straps are fitted to you, go ahead and 100mph tape the straps and their adjustment loops, etc. in place to prevent them from coming loose.
You might even be able to save the strap that took a shit on you.
This helps to prevent mishaps like having your ruck fly apart in the middle of a hike, road marches, etc.
Great video, man.
Have you ever considered making a video about tie-downs?
I need to figure out what a good one man tent would be for winter or temperatures down to below zero

survivalist? and that's all you slept with? I'd rather boil inside and have to slip my feet out over being any bit cold any day of the week.

I wish the comments were not turned off of so many of this guys videos. I like watching his vids and talking about b.o.b. and camping stuff.
I just got my first mre's and those things aren't cheep man. I usually use the 1 or 2 serving mountain house freeze dry pouches.

surprised you didn't didn't think to stuff your sleepingbag with some leaves. but by then..they were probly a lil damp huh. wakin up cold sucks

Ticks are a real problem here. Stuffing your bag with leaves can be asking for big trouble. I would rather take my chances with the cold.

Tip for Alice Pack straps...
