No doubt the 1000/1. I only got the 500 b/c at the time i was 16 and broke. IMO, save your money and buy a better amp for half the price. With JL, you're paying for the name. There are many better brands out there.

@TurtLePimpin There should be no distortion if you don't clip the signal. The gain is not a volume knob for your sub. Either use a dmm or just put your head unit up to ~75% volume on a 50hz sine wave and turn the gain up until you hear clipping then back it down a bit and you're set.
when i still had this setup there was no big 3, no need for it. i had an alpine cda-9885 (top of the line at the time) and i had NO boost on the amp with the gain set to 500 watts with a dmm.

HAAH thanks alot my man. The reason the name is so expensive is due to its competitive nature. Its great sounding, still loud, and very durable. Ive never heard any of my friends actually blowing a W6 or W7 as long as the install is done properly. The W6's and W7's are built to last, not like kicker that blows after a couple of months use lol.
Yeah up until last summer i had 2 12 M3's made by Memphis audio. Comparable to the W3's on loudness, but the quality wasnt nearly as good. My 13W6 was only put in when i spilled water into the Memphis amp, and it fried it to pieces. But it was worth the money, the JL products are much crisper and overall just great to listen to.
Pretty loud but would sound a lot better with a sealed box. If you just want bass ported is the way to go. If you want more quality go sealed. I'm doing the same setup. 500.1 x w7 12'

i got this setup 5 months ago, and at the time a 500/1 was all i had the money for, personally i would go with the 1000/1 or if you want the same power for a couple hundred dollars cheaper then get a JBL gto 1201.1, it'll give it about 950 @ 3 ohms and from there, turn the gains down to run it at 750

i was gonna get some focal 6 1/2" components but my car didnt come with components stock and i wasnt gonna do the fab work so i got mb quart dkf-168 6x8s; i got a rf 450/4 on those and they scream! they're also some of the most crisp sounding speakers ive ever heard with all types of music

Yeah i love my XR's. I crank them up and they just deliver, and with the 450/4 pushing 150 watts to each XR in the front, its unbeatable lol.

Yeah man all i have is the 13W6 with the 500/1 and its nuts. I still get headaches from time to time lol. Might add another 13, but gotta get that paper first to pay for it lol.

WOW i dont talk shit unless ive heard both. Been in a setup with the 18 BTL, and I WASNT IMPRESSED U ASSWIPE. Yeah the 18 can move more air, but it sounded like crap, no SQ. Id rather sacrifice the 5 inches, get a 13 W6 or W7 and jam out. I have people talk about how they can actually hear the words when I crank it way up. Do your friends say that about your car? I bet they do if your running alpine components, what a joke. Alpine is good for headunits, and thats all.

y the fuck would you spend a grand on type r's?they can get loud but they are not the best sounding subs around. if u kno so much about audio then y dont u just do the big 3 and u can get a big difference in alt amperage. once u do that get ur "badass" system and then get back to me. in 2 years i plan on puttin a wall in the back of this explorer w/ 2 18s and you'll prob still have ur shitty p1's u fuckin lil bitch. dont come round here talkin all that trash when u aint got shit to back it up

it all depends on what you want outta ur system, if all u want is spl and no sq then all u need is a loud sub like a type r or re mt. i go for sql b/c i want the loudness and the quality. its your own personal preference.

HAAH thanks alot my man. The reason the name is so expensive is due to its competitive nature. Its great sounding, still loud, and very durable. Ive never heard any of my friends actually blowing a W6 or W7 as long as the install is done properly. The W6's and W7's are built to last, not like kicker that blows after a couple of months use lol.

Yeah up until last summer i had 2 12 M3's made by Memphis audio. Comparable to the W3's on loudness, but the quality wasnt nearly as good. My 13W6 was only put in when i spilled water into the Memphis amp, and it fried it to pieces. But it was worth the money, the JL products are much crisper and overall just great to listen to.

Pretty loud but would sound a lot better with a sealed box. If you just want bass ported is the way to go. If you want more quality go sealed. I'm doing the same setup. 500.1 x w7 12'

i went for clarity and loudness so i ported it but tuned it low, a sealed box on a w7 is like a v6 in a muscle car, it just sucks

yea its defenitely worth it if you have the money cuz its optimized for the w7, get a jl 1000/1 with it if u want all jl shit otherwise get a jbl 1201.1 it'll get it the same power for half the price

i got this setup 5 months ago, and at the time a 500/1 was all i had the money for, personally i would go with the 1000/1 or if you want the same power for a couple hundred dollars cheaper then get a JBL gto 1201.1, it'll give it about 950 @ 3 ohms and from there, turn the gains down to run it at 750
