Your a good player and you do some good Stevie impressions. I do think its sad that all these people are so worried about the way Stevie played every little last note. I think if Stevie was still alive he would have told you to do your own thing. He did, its why he sounded the way he did.
dude i like it the way u did it 1st because a real guitar will put their own something something into it! i know that u have 2 teach it the correct way but thanks 4 the lessons. great job!!!
ma favorite part of the video is at the end where he goes over the lesson again pretty fast and says "and last but not least evil harmonics". cracks me up for some reason
Hey Brother. How do I get that classic SRV sound. You got it perfectly. It sounds just like him there..As far as the guitar goes I have a bunch of strats...NP there...I play trough a Fender cyber twin??I cant seem to get the sound???Thanks,Regards,Piero
Anthony man, i need to ask you a question here and hope you'll see it.. :) Can you please do a lesson on a triad or whatever it is from let's say little wing rockpalast from 1984 version.. there is a video here on youtube.. The time is from 4:00.. Please man, i've been trying to find out and it just doesn't sound right.. :) God Bless;)
Hey Anthony. The earlier post was right about the position of this hammer on. Stevie played a double stop on the B string at the 8th fret and G string at the 7th fret - hammering onto the 9th ten landing on the D string at the 10th.
anyone else notice that stevie bends the neck of the guitar to act as wammy, never even thought of that, you rock stevie! and can you do some more gear demo's.
Love Justin's site, blues not exactly his best stuff.
I think I am the only person who can hear that the bass slow down too stoned free is the same notes as couldn't stand the whether and Lenny has a Hendrix like note for note just a different key.
What a great SRV Tone , Stevie is smiling on us all.
To be really picky - I think he used the G and B ( fret 7 & 8) strings with ring finger pulling off from 9th fret of the G string and then onto 10th fret of the D string. Its the same notes, but using the E string gives a distinctly different sound to it, which I cant hear on his recording. I think thats exactly how Hendrix played this hammer-on/pull-off also.
@VVoodstockRider You could always listen to the song and train your ears and hands to work together more efficiently. I understand you can learn alot by watching people but there also a point where you have to grasp the material yourself. Get familiar with your instrument and know everything about it and every sound that comes out of it and you will be much happier. Cheers =D
I'm not criticizing (cuz you are certainly better than me) but I just watched a clip on the el macambo here on youtube and it looked like he kept the e shape around the 8th fret. am I watching the wrong thing or something... but bravo on the lesson. I love this song and I love this style of guitar.

Anthony, I saw a guy who played those "F" style thumb over top major chord with the free pinky, but he would cover/fret both the 4 and 5th strings with his ring finger, giving him a full barre with the ability to pinky embellish still available to him... you ever try this?
Great, great lesson man...!!! I really enjoy the way you teach: very direct and involving. Music means sharing most of all and you really got it right.
Love the tone, Anthony. Could you tell us your amp, pedal, and guitar settings to go from the clean intro into this part and the next overdriven part?
Wow, thank you for explaining this so well, and explaining how the licks come from inside the chords. I know you've said you won't teach a whole song, but you should consider showing the major parts of it!! You explain things well. And that TONE! Holy sh!!, that tone! Are you using a Fender amp?
@VVoodstockRider Look at Justin Sandercoes lesson, he teaches Hendrix original version of the famous intro almost 100% correct! Stevie - and anyone else who plays it - has played it quite differently than Hendrix.
@VVoodstockRider Really? cuz I've actually tried to see how he holds it, and from what I could see, he held it normally. :P But maybe I'm wrong. I'll try it. - thanks. :)
@gr8bluesgtr hey i have version o little win that has third stone from the song after it, he has the leslie swirling like crazy before th transition. have you heard it?
at markcheung07: he's not able to that, because of copyright. I think he explains it on one of his other video's or on his website. But he's still one great player and if you learn from him, you'll be able to find the way to play the song.
Keep the good work on, Anthony. Thanks for everything
