I like Bargnani, but he's not close to Nowitzki yet. His rebounding and defense has ways to go. Dirk is not a great defender, but he often plays respectable defense, and is a solid rebounder. He's also a CLUTCH player, with so many game-winning and big-time shots under his belt. Bargnani will make it, he'll become a great player in his own right. I'm really excited for him, the same way I am Dirk. They are 2 special 7-footers!

Really? Have his seen his stats? He's had two years to develop. How much of a learning curve are you giving him? Four years? Ten years? It's not as though he hasn't had a chance to demonstrate something beyond mediocrity. Dirk put up 17 points and pulled down six and a half rebounds per game in his second season. Bargnani put up eleven points and pulled down less t!)han four rebounds per game last year. Talk to me when he gets at least 5 rebounds or 15 points a game.

I'll agree with you that Bargnani is starting to look better this season (it remains to see if his good streak will last). But the rest of your statement makes absolutely no sense. Basketball was different in 98? Yes, Dirk was good because there were just no good big men in '98 like Shaq, Mutumbo, Duncan, Mourning, Malone, Pippen, Robinson, Olajuwon, Garnett. Stick with Bargnani is doing better this year, that actually made sense. I still say the Raptors would have been better off with Roy.

His position is not Centre, Colangelo picked up Nesterovic for that position, already knowing he was going to be picking Bargnari in the draft.
