The workers can't be blamed for everything. They just don't get paid enough to care, and it has been proven that people who are surrounded by blood make them more violent.

Which unfortunately many don't care to try to be, because they have their own problems (being socially marginalized, extremely poor, etc.) - sometimes they want to take their rage out on someone. I'm 50+ and have stopped consuming any meat or meat products after all the horrific facts I've seen. That was a few months ago. It's never to late to see the light and change.

I don't think it needs to be that way. If people cut down on how much meat they eat, we could raise more poultry free range style. That way they can care for the animals better and the meat will have a better taste. All the stress hormones released by the animals in battery cage farms make the meat less appealing to eat.
Butterball is a company that sells turkeys. So that means they are going to get slaughtered. The language seems rather harsh and maybe I wouldn't throw a Turkey to kill it, but I am more concerned about how much the Turkey cost once it gets to the grocery store.

The workers at the plant didn't do anything that bad. They are probably overworked, underpaid, and uneducated people just trying to get by, and they take their frustration out on the birds, which is fine. I would do it too and their is no law banning fun and entertainment at work.

Yes, humans are engineered to eat meat. However, if we had to go out and hunt down & kill our own 'meat' a majority of us would, without a doubt, become vegetarians.
The food part isn't all that much of a problem. It's all of the conditions that the animals are raised and slaughtered in that is a real problem. Factory farms are incredibly horrific.
However those that tolerate excessive cruelty towards members of the animal kingdom are also the potential abusers of other humans. To use violence to relieve/relive one's own abuse, or by causing the animals that we consume to be filled with terror hormones prior to death simply perpetuates more violence. Eating these animals is like eating fear. We reap what we sow!

You cant kill injected hormones by cooking meat. Neither can you kill the endorphins that get released when an animal is treated cruelly or killed brutally (scientific facts). Nor can you cook out pesticide/poisons buildup. Also, in an animal that eats poisons (pesticides) these build up in the meat and concentrate over a lifetime and are MORE poisonous.
This is why the big fish in japan after fukushima are more poisoned.

I have nbever gotten ill or even felt bad after eating any kind of meat. Blood work is perfect. Yes cooking can get rid of pesticides. There are pesticides on all food from meat to veggies. The endorphines thing in our food is not scientific fact unless the scientist is an idiot.

I can say this now, i work for butterball, thankfully not in the live hang are, and this happens all the time, but they clean their act when USDA comes through once a week to do inspections, sometimes people are caught, but not everyone is. The workers can't be blamed for everything. They just don't get paid enough to care, and it has been proven that people who are surrounded by blood make them more violent.
Although the workers should probably be fired, the companies are more to blame than anyone because they are the ones who are not regulating this.
Also, how does the FDA allow this cruelty?! Don't they have regulations/random checks in factories? The government should be doing more as well.

Which unfortunately many don't care to try to be, because they have their own problems (being socially marginalized, extremely poor, etc.) - sometimes they want to take their rage out on someone. Farm animals are perfect targets for this sort of thing, as they are not protected in any meaningful way.

PETA is doing what they can. The USDA usually blocks efforts to enforce laws, and farm animals abusers are rarely prosecuted - but things are slowly changing.
The Obama thing was a set-up by the tabloid media. PETA made no statement on its own - reporters contacted them to ask them what their position was, and of course they couldn't endorse his action - so the tabloids twisted that to make news for themselves.

I'm 50+ and have stopped consuming any meat or meat products after all the horrific facts I've seen. That was a few months ago. It's never to late to see the light and change.
I am healthier and I am happier knowing that at lest I am not participating in this any longer.
But I am still overwhelmingly sad that this is probably never going to stop. Humanity is doomed!

What you say about lions makes no sense. Lion's aren't cruel, they're guided by their survival instinct. If they don't kill their prey efficiently, then they don't eat and don't survive. Humans can sit around watching tv and have food delivered to them. There's no reason to torture animals we raise for food. My apologies if I misunderstood you. I don't think it needs to be that way. If people cut down on how much meat they eat, we could raise more poultry free range style. That way they can care for the animals better and the meat will have a better taste. All the stress hormones released by the animals in battery cage farms make the meat less appealing to eat.

Why won't Americans write to their government to put an end to the cruelty with which these poor animals are slaughtered? How can anyone feel comfortable sitting down at Thanksgiving or Christmas to eat a turkey feast knowing how inhumanely the animal was tortured prior to being murdered?
Yes, humans are engineered to eat meat. However, if we had to go out and hunt down & kill our own 'meat' a majority of us would, without a doubt, become vegetarians.

The food part isn't all that much of a problem. It's all of the conditions that the animals are raised and slaughtered in that is a real problem. Factory farms are incredibly horrific.

I don't see how anyone can be a turkey handler and not end up treating turkeys like objects.
How can you give care to so many turkeys day in and day out, while meeting the massive turkey demands of the populace? It's not feasible!
After all, we're eating these damned things not putting them in a hospice.

However those that tolerate excessive cruelty towards members of the animal kingdom are also the potential abusers of other humans. To use violence to relieve/relive one's own abuse, or by causing the animals that we consume to be filled with terror hormones prior to death simply perpetuates more violence. Eating these animals is like eating fear. We reap what we sow!

Eating meat or not eating meat is not the point here (altho' in someone's perfect world we wouldn't need mass slaughterhouses). The actual insidiousness of what we are witnessing is that all of this violence is unecessary and excessively cruel. This is not uncommon in slaughterhouses the world over. Violence in general against the defenceless on all levels of existence is part of the human condition.

No question, this is and outrage! Still, to tell all Americans to become vegetarians just isn't going to happen no matter how heart wrenching the images. Take action and write to the USDA and your members of congress. Write to companies and tell them you will not purchase their products. DEMAND change. Demand USDA no-notice inspections and monitoring of animal welfare, and make reports public. You're an American! DEMAND IT!!!
