Hey guys, thanks for the discussion... some very interesting perspectives here. If any of you are interested in a poster of one of the descents, they available at our website.
they can talk however they want its easy for u to say anybody could do it but i doubt u would have the balls to.. give these guys some damn respect!!!
i love the interviews they have done on this. these kids had fun, granted. but they talk about it like they had to be "professionals" to do this. newsflash: you paddled to an edge, and the waterfall+gravity did the rest, morons. have a good time, find new ways to make the news and get a little closer to the darwin award that's just eluded you; but don't tell me that you used any degree of talent to do it.
@chadvipe2 that's the point, Your Brilliance. anyone who feels so inclined COULD go do it. it isn't a question of skill, just a matter of want-to and stupidity. hell, if anything, it is a lack of intelligence and a desire for the subsequent limelight that prompted them to it in the first place. You had to NOT how to kayak to decide to do this.
@chadvipe2 You obviously know NOTHING about the degree of danger and skill needed to make such a drop. You don't just let gravity take over. You search a line, set yourself on it and then work like hell to see that you don't waiver over into rocks and boulders that can and do kill people. While I do not condone such hairboating, I do realize the complications and danger that must be overcome with SKILL to survive. (To the boater... Good run but don't do it again please. Stay alive)
@t1g3rtoes you need to stop being an internet "RAMBO",these guys are monsters.you say they lack skill,if they dont take the plunge head on,they die!think about what would happen if they hit flat?also, have you ever tried anything like this?absolutely not.before you say anything crital, strap up,get in and go!
@kobylake yeah. that would be really intelligent. before i criticize someone's action as being stupid, i should "strap up" and do it myself. makes sense to me. thanks for playing.
Slow down internet rambo... Have you ever even been in a Kayak? Given your statement I will assume you haven't. I will also assume your definition of talent is making lines in your fathers yard.
@roor20 ,*.....you're*....father's*.....and not sure what "lines in your fathers yard" is a reference to. sorry if it was supposed to be witty. i'll leave the witticisms and smarts to someone of your proven ability and evident case of severe intellectual gigantism. (ps- yes. i kayak. which is the only reason i stumbled on this video in the first place. and i'm quite underwhelmed by these idiots.)
here's a thought, since these geniuses require you all to jump to their defense: maybe they realise that it's only by doing something this dumb can they get noticed. now stop whining like babies, and why don't YOU go kayak over a drop-off? i'll be waiting with bated breath for either the grainy youtube footage, or perhaps the footnote on the 10 o'clock news that some copycat attention-seekers discovered how shallow the water actually was and got elected as mayor of paraplegicville.
@roor20 mostly just amused that so many people (yourself included, roor) have taken the time to complain that i thought it was a retarded move. you're entitled to be easily impressed, i'm entitled to think it was ill-advised and ignorant. if i ever become genuinely upset or concerned over the comments of a stranger that i could give two you-know-whats about, i'll probably need to reevaluate my life. (ps- no typos that time, unless you want to count absent commas. bravo!)
@yellowman88 You don't want to know. But the answer is about three feet deep, maximum, this time of year... Meaning, it's an incredibly stupid place to drop 90 feet.
@junipermama1 3 feet lol. How do you think the grand canyon was formed? Erosion. That waterfalls has been dumping tons of water down there for a long time. maybe in spots that the waterfall doesn't hit is 3 feet. but the direct area of the water fall (where they landed) could be anywhere from 10-30 feet easy.
@JakeStewart2020 No, dude. I've waded in that water as recently as last summer. When it's running hard, it's 3 feet deep, max. When it's dry, it's often less than a foot. I don't have an explanation for how erosion works in the Black Creek gorge, but it's not half as deep as you'd expect. Have you been down there yourself?
Well, I have seen some STUPID Stunts in my Life, BUT, This is Absolutely Bloody Crazy and I say that because, What would have happened if things went wrong and He ended up Dead and or Seriously injured after this Crazy Stunt at the Cost at the Tax Payers expense of having Hospital Treatment for the rest of his life.. BUT, I guess, That Takes some Gut's in a Flooded River that could have taken his Life and left his Family without a Son because of this Stupid cary Stunt.
@jeay4nz I agree! Several years ago someone died at these falls, by just wading in the water and was swept over the falls. It took several days to find the body that was trapped under one of the large boulders. And to boot thrill seekers like these do not even think of their families, just their own personal thrill.
It doesn't seem physically possible that those little kayaks could possibly fit the big brass balls those dudes must have. It's easy to see why they go bow first, but how do they stay afloat?
that crazy shit that went down pretty crazy even really like are to be congratulated for descent. adrenalin in a hug a hug from friend ...... Brazilian
Nice footage. Across the edge, in between the huge plumes of water, then splashdown! I am sure you guys researched it before you took the plunge plus you had safety boater in place to minimize any issues.. Looked great!
Killer drop guys . I seen it on the news , they were pissed about it ! I thought it was awesome . I have been unable to paddle my kayak for about 6 years now because of a back injury . NOT related too whitewater kayaking . I remember watching the falls once when the water was a little higher and thinking yeah thats possible . WAY TO GO GUYS !
WOW!!! I love IT!!! Grew up about a mile from the falls. Worked my first job @ Falls Drug Store, just up the road. Did some canoeing when it became popular in the 70's. LOL. Never even thought about anyone going over the falls and surviving. I love the video and the music. Read you guys are going to put out a doc. on video soon. Would like to see it if you can give a little info. Also, I bet the city of Gadsden will have an ordinance with lots of ugly signs coming soon. LOL Thanks for sharing.
@chadvipe2 That was some super ballsy stuff man. I've never even heard of someone going off the falls at ALL, let alone on a kayak! It looked like you were on I20 so i'm assuming you don't live in Gadsden but there is VERY rarely that much water coming down so you picked a hell of a day to go
AWESOME! This place is about 30 minutes from where I live. Dude, I go out there a lot with my friends and I've never seen it like that before when was this?
