That's quite a mystery, Buggeroffall. When he flew to the USA where he basically became a tax refugee in the mid 70s, Ahmed Ertegun signed him to Atlantic Records but his US career somehow got limited to the "Michel Polnareff" album in 1975 (he did appear once on American Bandstand but this excellent album was a flop over there) and the "Lipstick" soundtrack. At least, he got a hit single in clubs with "Lipstick".
How did this guy never reach the USA scene in the 1960's? No one at that time was like him. Very original. Who the hell decided on the English title "Soul Coaxing" for French title "Ame Caline" ??
