proper tail docking creates little discomfort to a welp, and was has been done so for multiple reasons. brittanys are a gun dog bread for hunting. docking prevents tail damage by thick vegetation they romp through, and keeps feces from building up in what would be very bushy tails keeping the dog healthy. look at most hunting breads and their tails are docked. it's not an act of cruelty it was done so for the dogs sake.

I love brittanys. My old one died at 13. She was playful just like this. She once ripped open a golf ball, and the rubberbands popped off of it and she was freaking out. My new one is 2 and this reminds me of both of them.
