Usually games are dumbed down or made easier for the American crowd, Because most game companies think us American gamers are weaklings (ahem, i'm looking at you Nintendo), not Konami. This is a company that takes a game and makes it harder for a US release, call me a masochist but this is also why i'm such a huge Konami fan :D

I always find myself playing the Japanese ROM because you have energy, they made it harder on the US version of the game. by making it have a one hit kill. but you can get hit a few times on a Japanese version of the game. it's too hard on my LEGAL copy :P

Is it me or did the US version of the game give the girl a MORE revealing outfit than the Japanese version? In the US version, she is wearing one of those 1980s styled bodysuits and some boots but in this version of the game, she has full military fatigues. Personally, I find her Japanese look better but in either version of the game (as well as in Contra 4), she kicks ass!

ive been trying to find a contra game, it looks just like this one. But the meny is different, it supposed to be black background and some red colors, dont remember it exactly.. But it was for a sega system. Anyone knows what im talking about? One of the boses turned into zodiac signs.

That is this game. It has a branching multiple-choice story structure. One branch leads to the virtual zodiac fight (not shown in this vid). Also, you likely played the US or PAL version.

this is by far the best contra game ive played i own it for the genesis and i actually got it free to its classic but its hard at first till u kiss ass with brownie the robot he is the best he has a yo-yo that is the most powerful weapon in that game it destroys everything trust me but differnt bosses r weaker to different weapons

I have the PAL version (Probotectors) of this game, but have never been able to play it. Looks cool since all the playable characters have been modified to be cyborgs/robots. Anybody know who can do a Nomad mod, so I can play PAL games on it?

Emulated, with all save states turned off. That was from start to finish.

You can't run a Jap cart, on a US system.

@DarkValentine1984 Actually, you can with a Game Genie or by widening the cart slot. For region protected games a region switch or code with Game Genie is needed. It's actually a fairly simple mod, especially for Genesis 1, but Game Genies aren't hard to find and they work just as well. Contra Hard Corps JP is region locked, but the codes are CTBT-AA6J, A2BT-AA72, and BBRA-AA3Y.

@DarkValentine1984 What controle pad did you use to play it? I use the xbox 360 pad and don't like the D-Pad on it and using the analog stick instead doesn't work very well either in my opinion.

So what device did you use to play this, can you recommend a certain pad for playing emulated vintage console games on the PC, like Sega Genesis games?

I was trying to say that, i got this directors account around the time they were only giving it out by way of application. If your application got accepted, then you could go past 10 minutes with no problem

However, when the directors account became accessable to all, they pulled the option to go past 10 minutes for those who wanted to try. but it remained for those who got it before this happened.
