  • I love the first version but the first duet is perfect to!!!! And what a wonderful song!!!!

  • I can't believe Aine Ui Cheallaigh's powerful and daunting version was cut into by the duets... which I can't even listen to after hearing her voice! AHHHHHH!!!

  • I agree, Aine's is the absolute best. The duet was beautiful when I saw this show live, but just listening to the song, the duet is awful.

  • I wrote museum, not Austin....

  • Aine's version is magnificent; yearning, pining, evocative, heartbreaking. Until tonight I hadn't realised that the masterful solo had been massacred into a schmaltzy duet.

My riverdance tape is clearly belongs in austin BUT is the better for it!

  • The best: Áine Uí Cheallaigh

  • can anyone tellme what ht eguy says as the song starts playing

  • I think the first couple (second singers) were by far the best. The last two singers were absolutely garbage!

  • Aine Ui Chealaigh (Gaelic) = Anne Kelly (Anglo)

  • Lisa Kelly is great but on this song Aine Ui Chealaigh is undisputed the best , there is no doubt she smokes it

  • Aine Ui Chealaigh is the name of the first singer in this video. My favorite version is when she sings the entire song herself. I wish I knew how to post it.

  • BEST VERSION!!!

  • Song destroyed. The River Dance 1 was beyond belief -beautiful.

  • the girl at 3:27 sucks!!

    Lisa Kelly's version is fabulous!

  • really.....wonderful

  • special memories of my beautiful family on a special night at riverdance, wow.

  • We're playing a bit of this in our field show this year...the vocals are basically played by a trumpet soloist (she does amazing justice to it). It's a great song.

  • At 74 years young I've heard most of the great voices. Aine's voice is superb.

    Ron in OZ

  • Aine Ui Cheallaigh! How lucky was I, an American kid in Ireland, to have had her as a music teacher? That gorgeous voice captures the heartbreak of exile in this haunting song.

  • I love this song, and Aine has one of the loveliest Irish voices I ever heard.

  • Lisa Kelly flat blows smoke on this song , But not as good as the original riverdance singer, The orginal version rips your heart out.

  • Uilleann pipes btw are awesome, i know they were used in the original riverdance productions at least

  • If you like the pipes you should listen to Caoineadh Chu Chulainn. It's one of my favourites from Riverdance.

  • This song sounds so much better with the higher female vocals. Dunno why all the newer versions of Riverdance use males for this song.

  • I love this womens voice. Who is she?

  • I love this song! It's one of my favourites. Her name is Aine Ui Cheallaigh by the way.

  • You should check out Lisa Kellys version as well she has to be my favourite singer EVER!

  • i love this version (the first half, original soloist), but lisa kelly's is really good too...a good alternative when you cant find this version

  • @Jemsgem First name Aine (pronounce as An-ya: Irish Anne).

Cannot spell or pronounce her Gaelic last name. If you look for show

    credits you may find it.

  • @Jemsgem Aine Ui Cheallaigh

  • i love this song, but I think the best version was when Michael Flatley and Jean Butler came out about halfway through it, it almost made me cry!

Cheers to everyone involved in Riverdance!

  • I adore the first couple...they have something special....I can't quite pinpoint what it is, but it's fabulous..... it's a gorgeous song anyway

  • wish it was the full version of the 1st bird, beautifullllllllllll

  • I played this song 'till my VHS wore out, had to bye another and played it more. Her voice is something else. I LOVE IT

  • I meant BUY not bye LOL,

  • how fantastic is her voice,! stunning

  • I grew up with this song, and it still gives me chills. I love it, I love Riverdance, I love Jean Butler, I love Ireland and I love this version of it so much.

  • I grew up with this song too. I saw the show live nearly a dozen times in one summer [when I was around 12]. My dad worked security at the venue and I watched every show, hung around backstage and got an autographed poster from the whole troupe. Was the best summer of my life. This song was my favorite, and luckily enough they made a t-shirt with one of the verses on it. Still have it, but it's so worn away now.

  • Spectacular.

  • This is such a beautiful song...it makes me think so much of those so far away from me, and how a simple song like this can draw them near again....

  • Love This Version

    Very Moving

    And Great Music

    xx

  • Who is the boy that sang with Katie Mcmohan?

  • Morgan Crowley

  • This version I love. Saw the 2002 version, and didn't like it very much.
