  • Still looking back at it, this was one of the best gigs I've ever seen. I was so blown away it was unreal.

  • is it save or say? i cant tell iv listened to like 20 videos now and some sound like save others sound like say

  • They're coming to Tulsa!

    I'm stoked. (:

  • only gig i ever fell over at. twice. sic transit gloria and quiet things that no one ever knows. best night ever. they didnt want to come off stage. screaming you dont know till they had to stop;

  • yeah man brand new put on the best performances ever

  • squeak much?? lol

    love this song though

  • :')

  • they sound great live. One of the deepest and best songs i have heard in a while

  • um.. this is NOT better than the letterman performance.... I loved the climax there at 330 or so... great song, very epic.

  • I was there xD was an awesome moment when they played this =D

  • New York Hard Core. Read as top to bottom, left to right, just like everything else in the US. ;)

  • whatever you say brother..

  • haha i love the HCNY,

    hard core New York baby.

  • this is so much better than the version on david letterman 'maybe its just due to the sound set up but jesses vocal sounds uch stronger and he hasnt missed out as many guitar parts too.such a deep beautiful song..i was obbsessed with it during a very low period an this song always takes me back to it.

  • you made it sound like a bad thing (reffering to 2nd half of your comment) haha but i know what you mean

  • was there too..

got three of mates onto Brand New

  • I was down there at the front for that. That entire show was amazing. Got knocked over and almost crushed under most of the crowd during sic transit gloria... I still stand by its the best gig ive been too. Wow =)

  • i didnt realize what i'm really scared about, and that if there is a God, i have lived a wasted life and will be punished, or if there isn't a God and after i die, i cease to exist. But, i guess if the law of conservation of mass and energy is true, energy cannot be created or destroyed, therefore our existence in infinite and we have lived past lives or something, follwing that logic of course

  • sucks to be you then.

  • wow dude. i love this song, this song is so heavy (in the emotional way) and the meaning is something i can relate to.

  • johnielsen08.

sorry but when talking to the band they said it was about his friends dying and not knowing how to live his life anymore. and what death is really like. Not about jesus or god.

    sorry to bust yer bubble.

  • I was always under the impression that this song is just about loneliness and feeling lost; and Jesse was just using death and the afterlife to artfully touch on these subjects.

  • this song isnt about god or jesus really... its about what happens when you die... brand new isnt a christian rock band whoever it was that had refered to them as that...

  • This isn't specifically about Jesus. This song is about how his friends died in a car crash and he doesn't know what will happen to him when he dies because he thinks he lived a life of sin

  • bingo :)

  • i think that this song is about how nobody really knows whats gonna happen when they die and hes saying how hes scared of not knowing what to expect. you can be taught all this stuff in church but youll never know till it happens.

  • i agree completely

  • thats not true. its completely about jesus. just not in the christian rock kinda way...more like the "does god exist" kinda way

  • Are these guys a christian rock band?

  • no they're not. it's not even really about jesus if you look up the lyrics. metaphor.

  • i think the song is definitely about Jesus if you read the lyrics. They aren't a Christian band but that doesn't mean that they can't comment on Jesus. Jesse was a Christian in his youth. Whether or not he is today I don't know.

  • i think you definately have no idea what you're on about.

yes he cross references biblical points, but are any song meanings as simple as what the title suggests? hardly. discounting pop of course.

to me this song has many meaings, but put simply, i think its his way of releasing something that can be likened to crucifixtion.

  • nope

  • Naaa, son. About as far from it as a band can be. They rock, though.

  • I think the singer needs to put down the guitar live and focus more on his vocals. Not that they are terrible live but he could do better if he wasn't trying to shuffle focusing on guitar and singing at once.

  • no, he's just really drunk/depressed or something lately. in live shows from a few years ago he rocked shit out

  • he might be getting the kurt cobain syndrome where he just doesn't get as excited about performing as he used to..

  • i dont think its that at all,

a lot of their older shit was more upbeat and this album has a lot of incredibly meaningful lyrics, if he was singing this song dancing around and shit hed look like a fool, this isnt depressing its beautiful

  • yeah i agree with that, but he does seem a lot more depressed on this album. one of my friends got to go to a jesse and kevin devine show and he talked about how he wasn't happy with how much attention his band has been getting

  • true that.

  • Think about what he is singing about. Read the lyrics. This is obviously emotional material and so that may have an effect on him.

  • This song is amazing. Why do almost all of Brand New's songs make my heart go into my throat? lol

  • i was there too!

really good, but i was in the standing bit near the middle =]

I loved the fact that they played pretty much the entire of deja entendu, but i was really annoyed that they played like four or five off the new album, which is the one they were touring at the time =[
