  • Peru's tragedy is the result of the globalization and politics of neoliberalism.

  • I wouldn't go that far. It's just the result of terrible politicians and lack of communication. Antonio Brack, one of the most important environmet defenders in Perù and America /who has walways fought to preserve the amazonia, worked hard in the law the natives protested again. The problem is that government didnt comunicate well and never listened to their suggestions...

  • the more tribes involved, the more political power!! the more powerful the voice to the outside world! next stop, Ecuador!

  • random............_.

  • Not random. Stop watching those stupid cartoons and learn about the reality outside your TV.

These are crude violations of the human rights and a abusive and oppressive force on natives who should have the right to their lands, as they are the true original owners.

  • You only speak about the native who were killed in Bagua, but it seems that you forget about the police officers who were slayed by the natives

  • Sure every single death is a shame.

However, the natives were there before the European people started to colonize (steal) their land.

It takes millions of police officers killed to even the Historical genocides of the American natives.

  • So because they're natives they're over the law, have more privileges than other peruvians? As a peruvian, I feel really bad for what happened in Bagua, It should have never happened, but it's really frustrating that in other countries they inform about this, like if the only victims were the natives. That police officers who were slayed were only doing their job, and also have human rights that need to be defended... but oh, they're not native, so their death has not the same value.

  • Ladyotakuperu, I understand your point. I'm also certainly against the killing of an innocent. Plus I'm also against the execution of criminals: I'm against the death penalty.

But I'm not supporting or condemning the deaths here. I'm talking about the situation where the natives are oppressed and almost forced to behave in a violent way. It almost reminds me of how Motecuhzoma Xocoyotzin got stoned to death by his own people because he was totally serving the Spanish colonial agenda. Its enough.
