A good example of a country known for oligarch is Saudi Arabia. There are at least 100 royal prince that control the lives of 22 million Saudis.

To help the poor, the royal families collectively provided financial grants such as establishing hospitals, donation of lands for housing projects, charitable foundations, these are private donations..not from the government.

If all Filipino oligarch can duplicate what the oligarch have done in Saudi Arabia, Filipinos will be contented.

Filipino oligarchs are not as rich as the Saudis but still they should learn to give back to the community and share their riches to the poor, this is what Jesus Christ has preached.

Most of these oligarch have been politicians or politicians. The Roman Catholic church, though it can influence the them when it comes to population control issues it seems they are reluctant to persuade them to share their riches to the poor except when they ask government donations to the church.

It is a difficult task itself for GRP to win trust from the Moro despite all their efforts providing services and developments in Moro dominated regions unless they implement laws to prevent the spread of hate in schools, mosque and public by Muslim radicals and other negative propaganda against the government.

We could only hope the elected president next year can attract more foreign investments, boost the manufacturing sector, private sector, especially agricultural sector in the southern provinces that can stimulate the economy.

Other problems such as government corruptions might depend on the will of the successor of Arroyo..he should increase funding on those courts that prosecute unscrupulous government officials and remove worthless administrators.

At this current situation, limited government resources is available due to world economic crisis, natural calamities and some inefficiencies in public sector operations.

Those are also the reasons infrastructure and developments are lagging not just in Mindanao but the whole country.

Peace agreement must happen but it must be fair and just for all the diverse inhabitants and complex societies in southern Mindanao.

The MILF should not be impatient, there will be a new Philippine leader next year so they have to give the new administration a chance to do some services, improvements and developments in the Muslim communities.

One reason they are suffering because every time funds coming from the Philippine government and foreign countries such as Japan, World Bank...supposedly to be used in projects for providing basic necessity of people in the impoverished areas in the autonomous regions, it is being diverted to purchase military weapons for the MILF.
