@MrGroundpounderz Being semi retired at the time and I managed to work on it for 10-12 hours a day at times, it took only 6-months. I continue to add or change details but the ship itself is about the same as when I built it. Thanks for taking time to write, I appreciate it--and as you know--it never rains on the Airborne but when we become infantry we become ground pounder's as well.
@deathbutt09 I guess the old wives tale that wealth will cure stupidity is true in your case.. Is everyone in your circle of acquaintences as ignorant and as ugly as you?
THE HMS SURPRISE FLING AND AMERICAN FLAG LOVE IT BUT SERIOUSLY GET A SMALL ENGLISH FALG TO PUT ON THE SHIP IT WILL MAKE IT LOOK SO MUCH MORE LIKE THE REAL SHIP
@casperelle1 Why? The POMES lost that war and we colonialists gained freedom from the crown--but we are slowly becoming more socialist just like them. Anyway if you look at some of the fleet sail videos we have up you'll see we were flying that little POME ensign.
@crazedNdiffused All we will be capable of doing is a rolling broadside because of the electronic firing mechanism but we are working on some new guns--stay tuned.
@formerparatrooper I think he meant Gyroscope, which is usually use to keep RC bikes, helicopter, etc. balanced. Even though I don't see why a boat needs one.
@softie1975 Thank you sir, I appreciate you taking time to comment. The ship is a kit from SC&H in Palo Alto CA and the real work was done by Phillip Roberts who designed the kit. All I did with my multi thumbed hands was put it together and sail it.
@BNSF1985 I had it sailing in about 6 months after getting the kit, and I have been doing some upgrade and detail work for about 2 years. Another generation of guns is in the works right now and hopefully they will be ready for the fleet sail later this year when we go to MN to sail with some other modelers.
To: SUNCAP60--If you read the thread you will find out two things, I delete posts that have foul language in them and the dimensions of this ship is 110 inches long and 80 inches tall.
@LuteNYC Thank you sir, I apprecaite it. We hope to have a 2nd generation set of guns later this year if our tests of the new systems work out. Stay tuned.
@woozypeak Hey when ya capture a ship ya always run up your own nations flag. It stimulates the female prisoners. Women love being captured. :) (I was a pirate in a past life, i think i got hung)
i kinda did that once and i used bottle rockets and it took me a year to perfectly build a black pearl model that was an rc and my frined made the flying dutch man lets just say his one and now mine is at the bottom of my lake
However as HMS (His/Her Majesty's Ship) Surprise it is not likely she would be flying Old Glory. Then she could have been the spoils of war, that makes a better story.
Your boat is wonderful! We are just starting to build our first RC fregatte and would love to equip her with carronades, too. We already experimented a bit, but I wondered if you would like to share your construction knowledge of your guns with us?

That is absolutely incredible. I have always fantasizes about having a model ship actually open fire, but I have never seen it before until I saw this video. Thank you for the inspiration I probably am going to try to build one for my self now.

Are you going to sell it?

@TOMTHETOUGHGUY Tom, I might entertain that. Send me a PM and we can talk, I wouldn't attempt a conversation like that in a thread of this type.

Do the guns fire anything or is it just an effect?
Very nice ship, looks amazing.

@VeyronBD No, we never load anything in the bore. It would be extremely dangerous and we are in it for the fun. Remember the kid in the Christmas Story--you load one of these and you'll shoot yer eye out!

@formerparatrooper They actually work, that's some amazing craftwork there.
