Lame, I'm not impressed, just looks like a knock off version of the Digital TV box that use to take normal TV Ariel to replace normal TV, now they are trying to find a cheap free way to replace sky or be in competition with it, big deal, your offering BBC I-Player feature, can get it on my PS3, can get it on my laptop, can get it on any damn digital box that has a Ethernet port fixed on it and I can get a cheaper box, tell me something else it can do besides all the lame features in this video.
CAT5 cable does not radiate, because it is rf screened. You can plug these rubbish things into CAT5 and there is no problem, but why bother? You can plug the CAT5 straighti linto the equipment you want to connect together!
Mains cable, however, is NOT rf screened. It can even be used as a radio aerial, with a bit of care and knowledge. These homeplug things therefore - plugged into the mains, are effectively connected to an aerial, and radiate all their garbage for all the world to listen to.
there is no such thing as a homeplug anymore they are banned they used rf signal they were just fancy rf repeaters they got banned as they interfear and they are useless..the product available today is a powerline adapter these use your wires beetween the two sockets as a ethernet cable and as long as ur wiring is ok they are just as good as ethernet.because of the badness of the homeplugs people have not realised the change and thing these are the same homeplugs are non existant anymore
@Avataryoutuification sorry this is lies they dont give out any signal what so ever they use the wiring in your house as a giant network they do not send any sort of signal
only cheap crap they are wireless senders they are old and not avalible any more as they are pointless homeplug adapters use the wiring beetween sockets as a ethernet cable and they are brilliant there is alot of lies going about because of the early wireless senders all they senders were was repeaters completely crap
Again I would suggest that you do not take this person's or my word for it but check the facts for yourself before you buy - these devices are polluting the limited valuable resource that is the radio spectrum.
Iy you use them and cause interfernce to someone's radio then you can expect a call from you local spectrum regulator
These device have been recorded as having spuriousemissions up to 1GigiHertz /watch?v=9-Ge61BXsaQ
@Avataryoutuification these adapters are perfect unless your wiring in your house is terrible they dont lost even quarter of a meg speed in houses with reasonably bad wiring unlike large ethernet cables or wifi i have a 120 yo house and 80 to 90 yo wiring and i get a perfect signal sent through i lose virtually no speed i lost more having to run a ethernet cable and compared to wifi even wireless g they are amazing the only time they give u a loss of even near 1mg is if your wiring is dangerous
I connected all my pc's which where wireless to wired so I could transfer large data quickly from pc to pc, pc to nas. i have 1000mb router. i still use wireless tho for Mobiles, Fax and printer, nd would probably buy a Device which is capable of wireless n internet access, which would connect to my tv through HDMI.
@guerillacity i advise powerline adapters they dont cause any interferance they use the wires beetween sockets as ethernet cables you can easily have a complete network through your wiring people say they send out rf signals that is bulllshit the early ones they were actually just wireless repeaters used rf these dont as the rf units have been banned for a long time these are completely different and honestly exactly the same as ethernet if you use them and they are slow ur wiring is dangerous
@guerillacity as i have 80 to 90 year old wiring in my house and it has never been touched it is really old shit lol and it works perfect no speed loss atall but houses wired in the 70s are crap lol bad workmanship everyone was stoned anything made in the 70s was terrible the houses the cars everything lol
these work as two things adapters and wiring testers lol if they dont work right then your wiring should be re done lol
@Doubleringer A shame we can't watch HD on the ps3 with Iplayer. Also a shame how every 360 player says ps3 has slow internet. Reason? The majority don't know much about electronics and use wi fi as opposed to Ethernet, I have one ignorant friend who wont listen to me and he lags in every game with wi fi.
As a pc gamer and pc builder ( no, not for money, I'm 14 but its kinda fun you know) I know that cable would beat wifi. I also know having a ps3 as well as my custom pc there is no hd iplater
Over 60,000 ham radio operators use it and in state emergencies like 9/11, Tsunami and other world emergencies when computer based systems go down then short wave is the only way to communicate using ham radio as a back up.
Juts an update, once again to clarify that Short wave is not out dated, how did the disaster in Haiti manage to keep every one informed yes ham radio operators on short wave kept communication links open when every thing else was down . They did and what a great job they done.
As others have already said, these Homeplugs pollute the shorwave radio spectrum. ADSL broadband is often affected by it slowing it down. Wirless keyboards and mice on pc's stop working requiring you to replace them with wired versions.
This is a classic case of lack of communication across large organisations.
BBC R&D and broadcast have objections that PLT interferes with Short Wave services, yet folks promoting iPlayer technology probably know nothing about the problems that PLT junk causes to Short Wave users.
Same as with BT - Their R&D department have concerns over PLT interference with xDSL services, yet the muppets in Vision seem quite happy to peddle non-compliant junk to their customers.
Their technical staff understand just how polluting these Homeplug adapters are, and some of them are actively fighting with others to get them baned.
Ironic, the BBC recommending using those "home plugs" to connect tv and computers etc. Because a neighbour of mine used those, I couldn't listen to the BBC world service! All I could get on my radio was a loud screaming noise 24 hours a flippin day! Aren't things that cause interference like that illegal? Anyway, Ofcom got them removed in the end. All the neighbour needed was a bit of wire instead! Totally useless devices, unnecessary too. Iplayer looks good though.
1:09 Home Plug adaptors! Are they kidding. Home Plug adaptors on sale now cause havoc with the radio spectrum! Don't use Home Plug adaptors if you want to avoid trouble later. Dreadful suggestion.
The mention of Homeplug makes me wonder what the guys at Freesat are thinking of .They know that they cause harm full interference and do not conform to current UK regulations. So i hope that you are ashamed of your selves.
well thats a let down reading the comments i thought i just found an answer to my prayers. anyway! i have a viera Z10 TV with freesat, veira cast and ethernet ports. Does it have to be new freesat hardware or because my TV has an ethernet port already used for veira cast - bascailly, will it work on my HD TV?
Homeplug Adaptors as described on this video cause harmful interference to other electrical items and services and should be avoided in favour of hard wire Ethernet.
Homeplug adapters are outdated technolog - they leak RF radiation throughout your house and can cause interference both inside and outside the house. They can slow down your broadband speed in certain conditions
Best to use Ethernet everytime. Even wifi if you are lucky.
In the US there is a similar technology that uses the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz - (wifi freqs) - it is produced by Corridor Systems and approved by the ARRL the amateur radio body in US. There is no conflict. It just seems that some people prefer the quick and dirty solution and are prepared to profit at the expense of a minority. The point is moot for me now: I've put in CAT6 cabling. 1Gb/s :D
Also, "some people prefer the quick and dirty solution" is a bit rich coming from somone who has "Man-made global warming hoax" videos on their profile...
Thank you for going down the cable route. Having homeplugs on all the time is neither green or efficienf.
As regards the OT subject you mention, this is not the forum but I will say - at least I have an open mind on the matter. One has to ask tho, logically can the science be really settled here? @6KlingonsRarelyDrop homeplugs use the power of one single led light they use basicly nothing ur lucky if they use 1 pence a day and thats if they even do all they are is a converter to convert your wires beetween the plug socket into an ethernet cable
all it does is basicly puts an ethernet socket on a plug socket and uses the wiring beetween as a ethernet cable
no rf signal it is bullshit no interferance these r powerline not homeplugs
a homeplug is the banned origional a fancy rf repeater
you sound like a salesman for the industry trying to reposition your customer focus. despite what you have been told, powerline uses RF now up to 320Mhz injected into mains wiring - no obfuscation please . . . .
check the facts before you spend your hard earned cash on these polluters
@6KlingonsRarelyDrop homeplug adapters are great unless your houses wiring was installed by a retarded 5 year old mexican then they run fine and the only thing they can possibly interfear with is a fm signal and that is a fact hardly anyone uses a fm radio in a house anymore anyway who cares if it annoys a fm signal like 2 percent of them do as they do not send a signal the they basicly use your wiring as a giant ethernet cable my house is 120 years old and the wiring is beetween 80 and 90
I know'em alright as I get interference from them-it is not the wiring that is the problem - it injects RF onto mains wiring which is/was NOT designed for RF-Laws of physics dictates. These devices only work because all other devices adhere to EMC regs and these DO NOT-
If you do your research and not repeat the industry's hype then you will agree. Even HPA admit that the devices cannot pass proper EMC tests that is why they certify via TCF
@6KlingonsRarelyDrop hey your the one who uses google for information i know first hand i sell these things i have quallifications i know for a fact powerline adapters send no rf signals does a ethernet cable send a rf signal? no it does not
these use your wiring as an ethernet cable
only homeplugs that are now banned in most countrys use rf signals and they never sent it through wiring.they were just fancy repeaters.the fact is these have been slandered so much people think they are homeplugs
when they are really powerline there is a difference
power and line duhhh
look these dont and never have sent rf signals
what would the rf signals be for tell me that
there is nothing ethernet can use rf for so why use it
for the hell of it i suppose just to cause interferance on purpose
you are thick son and so are the rest of the people who listen to crap that people post about products when the only proof is gossop your a thick shit kunt you know that
@6KlingonsRarelyDrop you know fuck all m8 the only ones using rf is the originals home plugs and these are not even slightly the same they look similar but they work different home plugs send rf signals between each other wireless they are really small repeaters
the ones of today are power lines they just use ur wiring as an Ethernet cable no rf signals
also even the originals never sent rf signals through wiring its not safe they would never have been aloud thats a fire waiting to happen
@6KlingonsRarelyDrop because of the bad shit with homeplugs people just assume they are still the same product they never realised they got stopped and a completely new product has came out some people are just that busy listening to gossip that they dont realise the complete difference in two products
and it still works great you dont know about these so dont diss them till you try them people are always doing this because somehow lies has gotten out and people just asume it is fact these dont send any signal atall the only way they can interfear is by fm and only if the radio is plugged into the same socket as the adapter
these are the best you get all the speed you get from a cable no loss atall and if you dont get a good connection beware get your wiring checked asap as these are good test
testers lol if they dont work good ur electrics have a big problem lol i use mine from my living room to my bedroom upstairs i swapped about all my sockets in the living room then the bedroom to find out what one is the best as obviosly some have shorter wiring beetween each other that is the trick move them about till you find the closest plug sockets from room to room if u get me like the closest socket in my room to the living room is the one at my door in living room and the one behind my
if you use wireless i would advise these honestly they are the best things i ever bought i used to have to run a cable all the way upstairs as the wireless through my ceilings just does not happen it is so slow even wireless g i tryed repeaters and everything and i got one of these with my bt vision and tryed it for my internet and they were perfect i have never had my net so fast upstairs i got more interferance from long cables than these i lose no speed atall
people call them homeplugs sometimes but that is just slang as the units look similar but they are very different..a power line uses no signal atall not wireless they basicly plug into the nearest socket to ur router or other desired network device then the other adapter into the plug socket nearest your pc basicly it turns the socket into an ethernet socket and the wiring beetween as a ethernet cable so essentially you can have like 5 for different stuff ie more computers and you can network
you can network your whole house using these adapters i have 4 pcs and my bt vision and my apple tv all on poweline adapters so basicly i use my houses wiring as a network i can plug into the net anywere in my house and have the full speed unlike wireless these have been given a bad name they are amazing and i would recomend them to anyone only if your wiring is dangerous then you would have trouble my houses wirings 80 years old and i have not got a complaint yet
It should be pointed out that Homeplug adaptors have not passed the required electrical approval tests and cause radio interference for a distance of up to half a kilometre.
and what if you live in germany it wont ork shit

Used by Aviation,Weather, Mod and the Military.

At the risk of being called a "Young wipper-snapper", isn't SW radio is the outdated technology? ^_^
On a serious note, it is a pity that they did not develop a system that avoided those frequencys.
Maybe there where some hardware constraints, due to people having different grades of wiring?

people call them homeplugs sometimes but that is just slang as the units look similar but they are very different..a power line uses no signal atall not wireless they basicly plug into the nearest socket to ur router or other desired network device then the other adapter into the plug socket nearest your pc basicly it turns the socket into an ethernet socket and the wiring beetween as a ethernet cable so essentially you can have like 5 for different stuff ie more computers and you can network

you can network your whole house using these adapters i have 4 pcs and my bt vision and my apple tv all on poweline adapters so basicly i use my houses wiring as a network i can plug into the net anywere in my house and have the full speed unlike wireless these have been given a bad name they are amazing and i would recomend them to anyone only if your wiring is dangerous then you would have trouble my houses wirings 80 years old and i have not got a complaint yet

It should be pointed out that Homeplug adaptors have not passed the required electrical approval tests and cause radio interference for a distance of up to half a kilometre.
