@gretchenlayne We were not actually the first to sing it. I believe it was composed for another High School, so they sang it. But PLHS was the first to be directed by Shank on his own piece. -James
im doing this piece in my choir right now, as this pretty good in my opinion. just more work on pronunciations and vowel sounds. Over all, more sopranos, but good job!
I had Joshua Shank teach me this piece, and the piano is playing it wrong, and there needs to be more feeling not as much screaming, just more practice would do it. but okay job
Where are the sopranos? Its really hard to hear them. I've heard this piece with stronger sopranos and i think the quality is better. You all still did a great job! This song is hard...
These guys have their moments but they need to work on their vowels. They sound like they're in Middle school. No offense. I'm singing this song with my choir so I know the song. I think this need much more work. The tenors are really loud, the tempo is both too fast and too slow at times. And parts stick out way too much. The singers need to blend in a little bit. But really I give this to them: They tried ^^
the vowels definitely need to be rounder and much less spread. this is an amazing song, but it needs work. and the tempo on the birdcall part was too fast, in my opinion. it sounded rushed, and the singers weren't able to get the notes out fast enough. the ladies scoop up to their notes. and individual voices and sections stick out too much throughout the piece. it's a choir, not a solo opportunity. diction could use a little work, but for the most part, it's fine. otehr than that, good job :)
this i actually thought was too slow. and there vowels are too wide. and the dynamics aren't really right. i love this song. you have some really present voices. yay
They did great. No doubt, but the tempo was too quick! I'm in the Concert Choir at my high school and we are performing this song composed by Joshua Shank. I'll try to post it this Wednesday. We've got our last concert Tuesday.
Johnny and Jenny sounded a bit too held out in the first syllable of each name...

Fully agree! The chord on cry at 1:20 sounds a bit off and would sound better a little softer IMO.
