That's what happened when they got a game with an NFL PA license, but not a straight up NFL license to go with it! N.E.S. Play Action Football had that same problem. So we got this. Teams with dinosaurs and women and whatnot on the helmets... and a good game. :)

I used to love playing this game. I could beat anyone with the 49ers in this game. Even if all the receivers were covered, you could throw to Jerry Rice without worrying about an interception. I almost forgot the Bears cheat pass play.

Tecmo Super Bowl may have been a better game overall, but they should have kept this theme music -- so epic!  Especially 0:34-0:55.

I remember being sad when Jerry Rice retired -- because he was the last player on this original Tecmo Bowl game who was still playing in 2004!

@gokinsmen Actually you are wrong on that, although as a typical American Football fan I'm sure you won't care, or will try to imply that the position is not really important, but I digress. The last player to retire from the NFL while being featured in the first Tecmo Bowl NES game was Punter Sean Landeta (0:48) with the NY Giants. Also, Tim Brown of the Raiders, who came into the league in '88 after Rice, but who was also featured in the first Tecmo Bowl, was still playing in 2004.

I could never get this game to work lol. It would start up for 2 seconds and then reset again and again ... so the first few seconds of the song repeated over and over again is like imprinted on my brain lol

@kipper199 One time I set up my NES to play this game and it did the reset thing, but it didn't play the music, it played the first note and said a touchdown then it did it again and again. Yeah the game says touchdown, it was doing that reset thing.
