@Spudly42 As a scientist (ok, an engineer with a Ph.D.), I can tell you that it doesn't matter at all what the consensus is. There was a consensus in the 1400's that the world is flat.
@Spudly42. I understand where you are coming from. Maybe there is global warming, maybe there isn't. It's vague and there is no hard evidence. If there is, it's not man made. If it is, explain the ice age. That happened without the help of humans. Also, you're telling me our climate is warming because cows fart and release CO2? Yeah, okay...
Whether it's true or not, I tend to side with the most evidence. Right now about 97% of climate/relevant scientists believe in climate change, so I'll just go ahead and agree with them, seeing as I'm not planning on running any significant scientific experiments of my own. Also, don't you guys see the weather patterns acting different? Maybe it's just my imagination, but every year there are more intense things happening, like more hurricanes or like 8 F5 tornadoes in 1 year.
I remember in 6th grade, I had this science teacher named Mr. Chatham who told me that by the time we were 16, we would be out of fossil fuel and would not be able to drive, and that the earth would be destroyed. That was in the early 1980's.
long long ago & far far away... back in the 70's when I was a little itty bitty kid these so-called experts had most people convinced that we were going to freeze to death by now. How'd that turn out?
They can't accurately predict weather for next week so how in the Wide Wide World of Sports can they be trusted with this so blindly?
Remember, in Gore's movie, he states he was trying to get Carbon Taxes started in 1982. That was still during the "Global Cooling" scare that had scientists warning of a new Ice Age coming - and politicians insisting Americans bore financial responsibility for causing it and should help pay for the consequences of global cooling to developing nations.
Pillaging of America has been the goal all along. Any excuse will do.
To "de-develop" the USA, per Obama's Czar, John Holdren.
Gore created Generation Investment Management Corporation, in London, to set up investments designed to receive our "green" investment dollars and make him rich. He and his Leftists buddies crafted the whole "global warming" scare then used it as an excuse to craft legislation to funnel billions of our dollars into their investment schemes.
A Private Citizen is usually imprisoned for these sorts of "insider trading" schemes...
I can print a whole bunch of carbon credits, and sell them to anyone who feels guilty about driving a car, having a warm house, food to eat, clothes to wear, and so on. If it makes you feel better to give me your money for a piece of paper that says you can "exhale", by all means I'll take it. Algore belongs in a mental institution, or prison, or both...
I like how some people keep claiming that climate change is a big scheme to make money. As if there wouldn't be a lot of SHORT TERM money in denial of climate change, in the form of oil company performance, etc.
Only in America climate change is a political issue. In any other developed country in the world, conservatives and liberals agree on this. Here it's a political issue, not a scientific issue. Schwarzenegger, a Republican, said "If 98 out of 100 doctors tell you your son is sick and needs medication, and 2 say he'll be fine, who would you trust". In 50 years, when even in this county climate change is an undeniable reality, people will look back on this garbage and wonder what we were thinking.
so-called Global Warming/Climate Change is an example of the nonsense some are willing to support to feel that they're somehow more enlightened & fashionable than us rationally thinking folks. Blindly giving more control of their lives to the GW God via government proxy. I continue to shake my head @them. :-/
Seasons are changing. Weather unstable. Tsunamis, flood and earthquakes happen in low risk places. Maybe you don't want to call this as global warming. But something is happening. & we better do something about it.
@RobbiePT That's why I say 'maybe you don't want to call this as global warming'. But something is happening. Ice are melting. Water rises & some places becomes dryer. Do we need to call this as global warming or any other catchy terms just to do something about it.
@RobbiePT cont..Yes, tsunamis & earthquakes are caused by earth movement. But my old culture believe, whatever we do the earth will give back. Maybe u don't believe in this but we believe that everything have a soul. Sooner or later when Earth got fed up with us, she just wipe us all.
@JedaqiaAngel yeah well basically nature can do anything it wants to and we have pretty much nothing to say. Earth has been showing us that in the past few years quite clearly
Haha, I love the guy whose voice sounds like it belongs on a trailer for Dirty Harry saying: "Parental guidance suggested."
Anyway, all you showed us was one supposed expert and a bunch of politicians. Aren't documentary trailers such as this supposed to convince us that the majority of your interviewees are, you know, experts on the subject?
@futurefeet Well, we all know that Newt Gingrich is a credible source. LOL! No, I have zero respect for any of the presidential candidates, except for Ron Paul. He and Jesse Ventura do a far better job debunking global warming.
Global warming or not, the amount of crap we put into the atmosphere is making it into the air we breathe and the water we drink. So even if the planet doesn't get a fever, we will die off anyway, and we will have caused our own extinction. DO I believe in Global Warming? Absolutely. And I think people that sit there and deny that this planet is changing are blind. Either we kill ourselves or we kill the Earth. Either way, we lose.
@CuriousGeorgeMonkey9 Human arrogance speaks, again. The Earth was here well before us & it will remain long after we're gone. Nothing you do or don't do will change that.
@anvildrop We need to take steps to preserve and protect our planet. State and local governments have the power to regulate pollution and to ensure that corporations don't make decisions that can have irreversible effects on our environment. That much is important.
@CuriousGeorgeMonkey9 That's true, and that's why we should focus on important stuff like preventing wars, corruption, and other evil in the world, preserve trees and all that, which is already being done - And not focus on decreasing CO2 emissions and profess nonsense that the earth is gonna set fire.
@Illidanek The Earth isn't going to catch on fire. And there are clearly more steps we have to take to preserve trees, because that honestly is not happening. I'm more than happy to listen to both sides of the argument, but this documentary has clearly made the mistake of identifying Newt Gingrich as a credible source.
I don't think a subject as serious as GWT needs a quasi serious satire that is obviously riding on Al's coattails. Make a serious movie on the subject and state your case. We'll listen. If you're just poking fun at AG go on SNL.
@jthread Okay, Ebert? Get the Chinese & Indians (who comprise nearly 1/2 of the World's population) to comply then just maybe we'd consider your bs agenda. Otherwise, you're just pissin' in the wind.
I did my own research using some funds my country donated to me and I found no proof that global warming exists . A volcano emits more Co2 than all of our factories put together.
Al Gore lost his mind after the 2000 election. After a couple of years of therapy, he parlayed pity into wealth by relying on the stupidlity of the American people!
CuriousGeorge: maybe you didn't realize this but Newt testified against cap and trade the same day Gore testified for it so.......just thought I would point that out!
What's with the shades, Phil? Interviewing the man on the street when they can't see your eyes is just not your honesty. Can't wait for the DVD, we don't go to theaters. Good luck with the film. Hoping it does really well.
The minute a filmmaker utilizes Newt Gingrich as a credible source is the minute their credibility begins to deteriorate. I'm not a big fan of Al Gore either, but I just had to point that out.
