I LOVE wearing my hair natural! I have't gotten a relaxer in 4yrs. My hair is very curly and pretty. :) But...my hairstyles are very limited. I don't like relaxers or putting heat on my hair. Like I said, I LOVE my natural hair. I don't want to damage it. When I get tired of my afro, I like to get sew-ins (and vice-versa). Nothing is wrong with changing your look now and then. I gonna try The Indian Hair Company out, hopefully it doesn't matte up.
@lanadobrota an afro isnt the only style you can wear with natural hair.just say that you like the look of silky straight hair.stop with the excuses.there are tons of beautifull styles you can wear with natural hair that dont require heat.do some research
@mimi42428 I have done a lot of research on hair care products and hair styles for curly hair. And, you are right about the abundance of styles...I'm just picky. I prefer my curly afro. :)
But, you can't deny the fact that sew-ins offer more versatility. With a sew-in, I can change my hair color, texture, and length, whenever I want! :D
Oh and...silky straight is not for me. lol I've always been more of a yaki kinda girl.

People Honestly Think That african-american Women Are The Only Ones Who Wear Weave.
All Races Wear It White,Black,Mexican, Its Not Just Blacks .
Idiots.
And When People Wear Wevave Its Not Beacause The "Hate Their Hair"
Its For The Simple Fact The Want Something New.
The SameReason A White oR Caucasion Would Dye Their Hair Is The Same Reason Black/African American Women Wear Weave ! Or Because The Have To Because Of A Medical Condition .
@TheKookieDohh yea other thnicities wear extensions but it is just that to them.extensions.they dont alter the bond of their hair to match that of an extension.they do it the other way round.as for brown women/afro women.they do the exact opposite.altering their hair to match that of the extension.the sooner that afro women admit the deep truth of why they wear these extension, the soon they will all wake up.stop with the excuses.it makes you look bad.................
@TheKookieDohh do what you want but as long as youre being honest with yourself about why youre doing it.dont try and make out that you wear extensions as an accessory.if it wasnt delf hate then i would see 90% of afro women wearing extensions that looked like their own hair naturally.not that of an indian or caucasion person.doesnt make any sense................
@TheKookieDohh until then can you tell me that its an EXTENSION/ACCESSORY.until then it is point black SELF HATE whether you want to admit it or not.AND PEOPLE WONT LIKE ME FOR SAYING THIS BUT THE TRUTH HURTS.
...I'm half indian and I have the worst hair ever. It is so curly, dry, and damaged. And I'm not just saying that, I have split ends galore when I only straighten my hair once or twice a month and I ALWAYS use a heat protectant, I use redken shampoo, I don't blow dry, I do hot oil treatments every week, and my hair just won't get better. I also get it cut every 6 weeks. I just don't understand. Any tips?
@Honeyknut it sounds like you need more moisture in your hair. I would say deep condition with honey, a moisturizing shampoo, and some of your oils (extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil are good) and make sure that u do this at least twice a week. Oh and don't use a shampoo. Wash your hair with a moisturizing conditioner instead and use a sulfate free shampoo every other week. This will help alot :)
@Honeyknut Shampoo your hair 3 times a week. Leave in conditioner. When you shower, dont wash it, just use hot water and conditioner. Rinsing with cold water before you come out of the shower reduces frizz.
@seygra20 I agreee w/u on the style of the weave not suiting her face...I wanna try the hair b/c generally I've heard good things about it&her makeup was flawless thx 2queenofblending, but I think the model would've benefited from a side part sew in, not a center part I've learned myself what looks great on one person may not look the same way on me :)
@seygra20 i have to disagree, the hair may or may not match her face, but that has nothing to with you or the product. It's about the HAIR quality(texture) not the way it looks on her. She's selling a product based on its quality, not how well it looks on herself, therefore u should judge the product & not the model. :D
It was fine for you to wear a relaxer but since you went natural, all other black women should too? I'm not trying to be confrontational with you, but women of all ethnicities do something to alter their appearance. Going so far as to go under the knife for nips and tucks, wearing inches of makeup. Look at all the Asian chics on here rocking blue/grey contact lenses or telling people how to make their eyes appear larger or rounder. Why are black women the only ones who take the heat?
What is wrong with the folks commenting on this video? You all have issues: black, white and ALL women wear hair weaves. It's not a big deal! *shrug*. Give it a rest, people....it's just an accessory!
WOMEN stop being soooo critical!! If it makes people feel better about themself to have a weave let it be!!! girls it is NOT that serious for some people it IS easier to maintain that than "our own hair! stop hating !
Yeah, it's really not that serious. You would think other grown people would be able to make choices for themselves without the opinions of others as if it were law. You are so right!
i think if someone wants to wear a weave or wat ever its their head and they are old enough to make the decision, i just hope no one wears because they feel ugly without it, ur beautiful with or without, its just a different hairstyle
i go from weave to natural every six months. I buy indian hair because it last longer then a 20 dollar pack of yaky! I can take it down wash it store it and get back to it months later. I do it that way so my hair can rest from the heat and chemicals. i don't mind doing my hair every week (natural hair) i keep it oiled and wrapped.
i think that people need to stop referring to weave as just something for black women i have seen plenty of white women who pay 100s and 100s for hair to enhance their own. To me a weave is enhancement on what you have not replace to it altogether. I have a weave myself, it's more practical fro me i don't have the time to straighten my hair every morning so i look presentable, a weave allows me to do so
the reason why this is presented as a black issue is because the commercial is clearly targeting black women, plus alot of caucasian women use hair from eastern europe, not necessarily indian hair. this product is made for and marketed to, primarily black women.
and LOL at your hair having to be straight, in order for you to percieve it as presentable
it doesn't have to be straight it just makes my hair more manageable when im busy at work its easier for me to run a brush through straight hair than my natural curly hair
you mentioned nothing about management in your comment, you said
"i don't have the time to straighten my hair every morning so i look presentable," implying that not straight hair would be un-presentable.
but whatever. it amazes me what we convince ourselves of to justify our behavior . if weave was ONLY about enhancement of one's own assets and not hiding it, why arent there millions of dollars made with kinky weaves or some other texture closer to our natural hair. actually nevermind.
This is a great commercial and QOB did a wonderful job as always on the models makeup. I would like to comment on some of the various crazy comments I see here though. Weave is worn by many of different races and religions. All hair that is sold or donated isn't for religious purposes. I never knew so many people are so closed minded about women wearing weaves just because of the race. I got plenty of hair but I'll wear a wig sometimes or even a weave to give my hair a break. lighten up peeps.
I think people need to loosen up A LOT. So what if some one wants to wear extensions? There are so many various reasons as to why one gets extensions. People need to lighten up!
That is true, but unless you know exactly where the hair products come from then it's really uknown. A company can always tell you it came from someone doing a religious deed but you never know.
I honestly don't believe that african hair is any difficult to deal with than any other hair. I have my hair natural for the past 6 years and I've been just fine. Yes we all have bad hair days, who doesn't? I can understand giving your hair a break from time to time but I just don't like the tone of the advert, like indian hair is some how "better" that what grows naturally.I just think that if women took the time to find out what works for their hair they wouldn't be relying on someones elses.
Thank you! I have been natural close to 2 years now, I'm 18. I was relaxed from like 4 years old. What makes me angry is that I never got a chance to learn about my hair. There is nothing wrong with my hair, I love it, now that I KNOW it. I don't feel right with bone straight hair anymore. Yeah, it's good to change my look up here and there, but the main problem is we are told our hair is inferior from a young age by our own people. Messed up. We need to fix up black women, sorry but it's true.
I agree. It's really sad that EVERYWOMAN despite her race or age or looks is taught my society that she should look a certain way. Magazines can be difficult to look at, if you don't look like the women on the cover there is something wrong with how you look and you should change what you have. :( We all need to be more savy when it comes to beauty.
@TribalKris10 the indian women dont sell their hair. they gave their hair to temples as offerings n for religious rituals. the temple sells the hair . in china yes, women sell their hair. in india no women really sell their hair.
Note that not all Indian hair suppliers sell actual temple hair and this commercial is also not using the term temple hair....they are selling a lessor quality product.
@kittenbhm You should invent words for a living, lol. Indian Monkey Hair? Really? That's the best insult you could come up with? At least Chels asked a real asshole question, like is it gonna smell like curry. Get your game up :)
when i watched the behind the scenes it didnt look like the indian hair it was a lady curling it it looked like regualr hair. thats why i was confused when they were like that wasnt her real hair?
because sometimes our hair is hard to work with and you need a break. i have "african hair" down my back and I give it resting periods so I braid it and put weave in sometimes. It makes it grow even longer.
I disagree that our hair is "hard" to work with. We don't know our hair enough, that's the main problem. Now that I understand my hair being natural for 2 years, I know what to do with it, how to protect it, how to achieve any style I want. But I do agree that sometimes it needs a rest and that does help it grow.
I also wear my hair in it's natural UNPROCESSED state. We don't NEED weaves and our hair is MANAGEABLE...you just have to know how to manage it and not shun it like it's the curse of black women
we dont need weaves but some of us choose to wear. my reason for wearing them is because i like the versatility of being a woman and changing my natural hair or weave. it's also a way for me to wear a protective style and letmy hair rest.
I usually don't reply 2 comments on other ppl's vids but after reading yours, I felt the need. On one hand, ur right. Some ppl depend on weave to feel pretty. Then there are those who wear it because they appreciate variety. And I can't help but notice your "pro unprocessed, natural hair" stance when your locs R bright red/orange. I'm sure it doesn't grow out of your scalp that color. (if it does, i'm more than happy to take my comment back) Ppl who live in glass houses shouldn't cast stones...
actually, I never cast any stones...you're doing that. I never said that I've never worn a weave and I never said that variety wasn't good. I dyed my hair b/c I wanted to, and I can always dye it back if I want to. What I'm saying is that overall the hair texture of Black women is shunned...if it weren't true then we wouldn't have millions of dollars being spent each year by BLACK women to purchase INDIAN hair. Weave, like color, or hair pins, would be an ACCESSORY, not a NECESSITY.
lol Plz point out where I criticized ur hair or any1's for that matter. Mentioning ur hair color isn't being critical; it's stating a fact. Your hair is bright red/orange, is it not? I don't pass judgement on ppl based on what they decide 2 do with their hair (regardless of what they used 2 do with it or what they choose 2 do with it now). I just found your comment to be very judgemental, without much merit and borderline hypocritical. But then again controversy makes the world go round so.....
and you point out where I criticized any1? I said that we don't NEED weaves and that our hair is manageable, you (meaning ppl in general) just have to learn how to do it and not shun it. Where was that criticizing any1? It was stating the fact that millions of black women have no idea what they're real hair texture feels like and truly believe it is unmanageable. I wore my loose, natural (undyed) hair for 2 years before I loced and was loced almost a year before I dyed them, so I know from...
experience that our afro, kinky, nappy texture of hair is easily managed when you have the right tools and know how to do it. Weaves can be fun when they're worn for fun and not the primary hair choice of any woman, especially black women who's hair texture is so dramatically different from most weaves that they choose to wear. this is my final response, however, b/c clearly you either misread or misunderstood my first comment.
This too is my final response to such trivialities. The point I simply made was love and appreciate what YOU do with yourself and don't judge others based on why you THINK they do what they do.....
Actually...I am "colored" (black as I call it) and my hair is quite manageable. Honestly, it's very manageable. I used to wear my long, black hair down my back, but I decided to cut it. Also, it is quite thin, not thick at all. It is also curly when not flat ironed, but I'm sure when you say curly you mean nappy. Hmm come to think about it...I don't think I have had one nap in my life.....and I am BLACK! ISN'T THAT CRAZY!!!! OMG a black girl with NATURAL silky hair!!!!
I feel kinda sad when I see this. I'm indian and so many indian girls hate their hair. What's even more tragic is all the women in india who are so desperately poor and chop off their locks, which are considered the most attractive feature after colour.
it's a shame when people don't love themselves the way they are. So many women spend their lives trying to look like someone else instead of embracing who they are. I guess it crosses all cultures
well, isnt it theyre hair and they should be able to choose what they do with it, but i really do understand what your saying, its just like coloring you hair, but if they want it, then so be it.
@lilacfunk its just hair...it grows back...its not like they had to chop off a limb or give one of their kidneys like people in other countries actually do for money

I think people need to loosen up A LOT. So what if some one wants to wear extensions? There are so many various reasons as to why one gets extensions. People need to lighten up!
Japaraga 2 years ago 7
wait, was it really a secret that wasn't her hair and it is disturbing to make a profit off of people's religious sacrifices.

@TribalKris10 many shave it off as a sacrifice to their Hindu god, for blessings and to raise money for the temple
opp811 2 years ago
That is true, but unless you know exactly where the hair products come from then it's really uknown. A company can always tell you it came from someone doing a religious deed but you never know.

this was a little disturbing.

I honestly don't believe that african hair is any difficult to deal with than any other hair. I have my hair natural for the past 6 years and I've been just fine. Yes we all have bad hair days, who doesn't? I can understand giving your hair a break from time to time but I just don't like the tone of the advert, like indian hair is some how "better" that what grows naturally.I just think that if women took the time to find out what works for their hair they wouldn't be relying on someones elses.
brownstar45 2 years ago 10
Messed up. We need to fix up black women, sorry but it's true.
kweencessX 2 years ago 7
I agree. It's really sad that EVERYWOMAN despite her race or age or looks is taught my society that she should look a certain way. Magazines can be difficult to look at, if you don't look like the women on the cover there is something wrong with how you look and you should change what you have. :( We all need to be more savy when it comes to beauty.
actingchick23 2 years ago
@kweencessX True! I LOVE my natural hair too! Been natural almost 4 months and it's been an awakening for my mind, body AND soul!

@TribalKris10 the indian women dont sell their hair. they gave their hair to temples as offerings n for religious rituals. the temple sells the hair . in china yes, women sell their hair. in india no women really sell their hair.
ochaiscream 2 years ago
Note that not all Indian hair suppliers sell actual temple hair and this commercial is also not using the term temple hair....they are selling a lessor quality product.

Lord have mercy. These people have commercials now....Hope none of you send off for Indian hair and get Indian monkey hair instead.

Apparantly you havent ordered from them. So yes It was.

@kittenbhm You should invent words for a living, lol. Indian Monkey Hair? Really? That's the best insult you could come up with? At least Chels asked a real asshole question, like is it gonna smell like curry. Get your game up :)

No its the truest insult i could come up with. While im busy "getting my game up" go sit down somewhere.

why don't people wear their african hair instead of indian?
brownstar45 2 years ago 14
because sometimes our hair is hard to work with and you need a break. i have "african hair" down my back and I give it resting periods so I braid it and put weave in sometimes. It makes it grow even longer.
NvrSettle 2 years ago 8
I disagree that our hair is "hard" to work with. We don't know our hair enough, that's the main problem. Now that I understand my hair being natural for 2 years, I know what to do with it, how to protect it, how to achieve any style I want. But I do agree that sometimes it needs a rest and that does help it grow.
kweencessX 2 years ago 7
@brownstar45 why dont people stop being ignorant?

ummmmm there are PLENTY of african americans who wear their hair in their natural state. i do.
brittaneys352 2 years ago 7
I also wear my hair in it's natural UNPROCESSED state. We don't NEED weaves and our hair is MANAGEABLE...you just have to know how to manage it and not shun it like it's the curse of black women
GenuinelyGiGi 2 years ago
we dont need weaves but some of us choose to wear. my reason for wearing them is because i like the versatility of being a woman and changing my natural hair or weave. it's also a way for me to wear a protective style and letmy hair rest.
brittaneys352 2 years ago
I usually don't reply 2 comments on other ppl's vids but after reading yours, I felt the need. On one hand, ur right. Some ppl depend on weave to feel pretty. Then there are those who wear it because they appreciate variety. And I can't help but notice your "pro unprocessed, natural hair" stance when your locs R bright red/orange. I'm sure it doesn't grow out of your scalp that color. (if it does, i'm more than happy to take my comment back) Ppl who live in glass houses shouldn't cast stones...
ameritrini 2 years ago 5
actually, I never cast any stones...you're doing that.
GenuinelyGiGi 2 years ago
lol Plz point out where I criticized ur hair or any1's for that matter. But then again controversy makes the world go round so.....
ameritrini 2 years ago 3
and you point out where I criticized any1? I said that we don't NEED weaves and that our hair is manageable, you (meaning ppl in general) just have to learn how to do it and not shun it. Where was that criticizing any1? It was stating the fact that millions of black women have no idea what they're real hair texture feels like and truly believe it is unmanageable. I wore my loose, natural (undyed) hair for 2 years before I loced and was loced almost a year before I dyed them, so I know from...
GenuinelyGiGi 2 years ago
experience that our afro, kinky, nappy texture of hair is easily managed when you have the right tools and know how to do it. Weaves can be fun when they're worn for fun and not the primary hair choice of any woman, especially black women who's hair texture is so dramatically different from most weaves that they choose to wear. this is my final response, however, b/c clearly you either misread or misunderstood my first comment.
GenuinelyGiGi 2 years ago
This too is my final response to such trivialities. The point I simply made was love and appreciate what YOU do with yourself and don't judge others based on why you THINK they do what they do.....
ameritrini 2 years ago

What's even more tragic is all the women in india who are so desperately poor and chop off their locks, which are considered the most attractive feature after colour.
lilacfunk 2 years ago 36
it's a shame when people don't love themselves the way they are. So many women spend their lives trying to look like someone else instead of embracing who they are. I guess it crosses all cultures
GenuinelyGiGi 2 years ago
well, isnt it theyre hair and they should be able to choose what they do with it, but i really do understand what your saying, its just like coloring you hair, but if they want it, then so be it.
nyxchix 2 years ago
@lilacfunk its just hair...it grows back...its not like they had to chop off a limb or give one of their kidneys like people in other countries actually do for money
