a robot that screams when you burn its hand felt no pain, didn't need to nor could ever. by logical equivalence of semiconductor and electrochemistry neither would we were we merely the physical beings you think we are.
and because we have qualia such as pain and the physical can't do it, it follows that we are more than the physical.
something as seemingly trivial as pain is the most profound. no machine can do it. try to think about a simple screaming robot. there is no pain
Hi Jack and Brian, i am glad u bring up the "standardized" situations in vehicles. I believe that most existing kit cars have so many options that it would be impossible to get a company to actually produce an electric version COST EFFECTIVELY for the public. i invision a kit car to be sold with a standardized electrical drive train that has been completely engineered to take the guess work out of building the kit. Every nut and bolt, every component, with a very extensive but simple intructions
Ron Paul has some good ideas like stopping the stupid wars and reducing spending but he has some deranged issues to like believing tax is illegal and that government has no collective role. he wants no taxes at all which is foolish. taxes are good if they serve a useful community service so he should just shift the taxes from idiotic military spending to free schools and hospitals like we have in europe.
but like many on the right he's too far gone to be sanitized. but would be interesting
@DanFrederiksen I might add that Dr. Paul(MD) gives me some reason to pause. As a bio teacher, I get nervous when an MD claims to not accept the Theory of Evolution since this theory explains the underpinnings of life. What is his explanation for biodiversity? He has publicly announced he doesn't accept this factual biological process. Wonder how he feels about other scientific theories such as Germ Theory, Endosymbiont Theory, Cell Theory? He studied all of these to get the MD degree!
@saxmanchiro if that makes you nervous then prepare to be terrified because I know for a fact that evolution isn't real : )
and don't kid yourself that it's because I don't understand it. I'm comp sci, simulated evolution is a valid concept. the principle is sound, it seems so obvious, except for a pesky spiritual component. qualia.
a robot can run away from danger without fear and retract hand without pain. seems so simple but nothing physical can make pain. ergo, evolution didn't make us.
denial is the most predictable of all human responses. you don't stop to think about the deeply profound thing I just told you, you simply relied on lazy arrogant assumption, how could I possibly know that. of all humans in all of time what are the odds that I have discovered what noone else has. probability betrays you however. only thinking will do and it is not hard to understand the proof if only you try. you fail because you don't try.
I happen to be the one who knows. however improbable
